From Canada here and mine kicked into preparing for shipment just now for Sept 24 delivery. Preparing for shipment this early in the game probably means the phone isn’t already in a warehouse nearby but has to come from China

None of them are in a warehouse in the U.S, you will see all tracking numbers will be coming from China. Tracking will begin to show tomorrow and Monday typically

My iPad preorder earlier this year came from a local warehouse so it only went to preparing for shipment 2 days before delivery

Just checked and you're right! I'm in the same boat. Ordered at 8:05 a.m. ET, confirmation email from Apple at 8:10 a.m. (Just one Apple Pay glitch along the way.) iPhone 13 Pro Max, 256GB, white.
Just for giggles, was your pay glitch the fact that it didn’t like your shipping address? It took me 3 tries before Apple Pay would accept my home address, even though it was the same as last years.

UK launch day devices have i believe always come from partner (synchreon tech?), and so tend to switch to shipping/shipped around wednesday/thursday. The final charge (not the 1 pence details check) tends to happen around then too.
I'm still on processing (delivers 24th), as is the case (delivers 22nd). Case money amount has now been "requested".

Mine is moving. Shipment tracking popped up in my UPS app. 😁 iPhone 13 Pro Max 256 GB. Still shows preparing for shipment on the Apple Store.

The Apple Pay issue I ran into was more anodyne. I just got an error message that the payment "couldn't be processed" or something like that. I immediately tried again and it went through, but scared the s**t out of me since I knew delivery times would likely slip.

At what point do we start stalking UPS and put in our phone numbers in an effort to figure out where the phones are? My recollection is it's not until at least tomorrow before that's an option.
Read some have info and some don't so you could at least try.

I don’t see any info yet in the UPS app. How do you track by reference number on UPS website. Is there a specific way you’re suppose to fill out? I kept getting an error message about the date range But I’m entering it in as far as I can see. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thank you!

I’m sure this has been asked and answered in the past. But do orders ship slower from mobile phone carriers as opposed to ordering from Apple? Or do they all really ship from the same Apple distribution process? Right now my order from a cellular service indicates shipping by Sept. 23rd.
Not the same distribution process at all. Each carrier has their whole own process. There's some sort of allocation of phones from Apple to the carriers ahead of time, and the carriers ship from their own warehouses via whatever carrier they use. They don't all use UPS.

Regardless of the date your carrier gives you, you won't get your phone before the 24th. Apple has agreements with all the delivery services not to deliver anything before launch date. Also, "ship by Sept 23rd" is not the same as "deliver by Sept 23rd".

Both of mine are in preparing to ship and I already have UPS tracking numbers for both of them. The numbers showed up in the My Choice area on the site. They both say on the way, but I can't find any updated information as to where they are now.

Thanks for the information! I didn't know if purchase from a carrier was going to doom the delivery to a date long after a purchase directly from Apple. Of course these days shipping services all have to battle delays. If the new phones are stockpiled in the USA (where I live) maybe pre-orders will deliver a little faster.
