Prepping for Preorder: Tips from a "seasoned vet"

Funny thing is that Chrome worked better for me than Safari for the new iPad.

Haha that is way intense. Who cares if you are the first or the thousandth person to preorder one...as long as you get in the first batch you're going to get your phone at the same time.
 
Alright I'm confused

If you're ordering from Apple's site, they're going to ship to the billing address? The Payment information section of your Account home page?

Also, I'm in college, will they be able to ship it here?
 
So on my Apple account I have separate billing and shipping address (there is trouble with theft of packages in my area). But what you guys are saying is that that will make no difference, and they will ship to the billing address of your AT&T account? So if that is the case, can I just call Apple the next day or two and switch the shipping address?

I don't know if my college uses P.O Box system
we have a mail/package room with a bunch of mailboxes
we get our stuff there. is that considered a P.O box?
apple says they can't ship to P.O box addresses..
 
Log into the store 30 minutes before preordering starts so that you won't have to wait extra time for it to sign in while you're checking out.
 
I called Apple twice in order to get two different people and they both said you can have it shipped wherever you want, doesn't have to be to the cell phone billing address (I have Verizon).

Earlier I went through the steps to order a 4S and it let me put in a separate shipping address. I'm a bit confused why everyone says it's not possible.
 
I am wondering if I should change the billing address through Att right now??? I wanted to try to ship it too my work address. Any thoughts?? I have read conflicting reports about whether or not Apple will let me specify a shipping address that is different than my billing.

Edit: I see the post right above me saying Apple reps said can change shipping at the time of order.

I hope what you are saying is true. Though, I have AT&T. Could that be the difference?

Not sure. I know through Verizon's website you can only have it shipped to your billing address though so that's not an option for me. My account is shared with someone in another state so it's kind of a big deal for me. They are pre ordering it too so I can't just change the billing address and change it back either.

Well I just went and changed the address on my AT&T account just in case.
 
I'm planning on ordering a 5 tonight as is my sister. The problem is, we're both away from home (i.e. the billing address). I'm in City A, she's in City B and the Billing Address (on AT&T account) is for City C. Any suggestions?

I guess worst comes to worst we can have our phones sent home (City C), and then sent to us after their received on launch day....but that's no fun :(
 
For us Sprint users, do we need to worry about this whole billing/shipping address ordeal? I called and the rep said that this will not be an issue, but I just want to make sure...
 
Changed billing and shipping in Apple but still says it's shipping to my original address. I guess it's linked to your ATT account info(CC address)
 
If you order through apple store, you can just change the shipping address to where ever you want when it's processing. Just changed it from my original address to my college address:D

Another tip. There is no reason to flood the site when the pre-orders first start or at prime time which will likely be between 6-9am. Wait a few hours to try again later and things will go much smoother for you. The phone will not sell out within an hour or two so just wait a bit until the rush dies down or else it only causes you and everyone else strife when trying to get the pages and checkout to load.
