I got the 2.00-2.75 reader inserts but the AVP is reporting them as .75 in settings. I checked the lenses themselves and they are indeed labeled 2.00-2.75 so I assume it's a software error. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Well it “works” with scleral hard lenses but not great. Some points are easy to focus some aren’t. I switched the pointer on and switched to head tracking and works a lot better. Just wish I could get lens inserts for my prescription.

I also have Scleral lenses and it's not perfect, I agree. I'll have to give the head tracking a try!

I’m having the same issue…

On Thursday my order went to shipped but with no delivery date. UPS delivery is still saying ‘On the way but no delivery date’. The email notice of shipping said 2/28! The Apple Store says 2/6-8. I have no idea what UPS is doing.

I already posted on this thread about my experience and problems getting correct reading inserts a few days ago.

To make a long story short, Apple sells prescription reading inserts as part of the Vision Pro order process on their website, but Zeiss does not make prescription reading inserts---I had a Zeiss representative on the phone last week who told me so. I alerted Apple that they're selling something that Zeiss won't fulfill, but apparently nobody at Apple cares and they still have not changed their ordering process on the website that allows to order prescription reading inserts.

Anyways, as an alternative I ordered readers. Apple sells them in different ranges, like +0.75 / +1.25. However, my eyes need different ranges, but one can only order pairs of inserts with identical ranges. So I ordered two pairs, one for each range, and was planning to use only one insert from each pair that has the correct range for one of my eyes.

I went to the Apple Store this evening to pick up the Vision Pro and the inserts. I tried out the Vision Pro in the store and inserted the respective inserts. The Vision Pro recognized that I inserted lenses, and asked me to scan the code on the package. Problem: The software does not anticipate that someone would use inserts with different ranges. So I could scan only one code. Then I was able to see well using the eye that had the insert that I scanned. But the other eye did not work at all --- the vision was blurry. 😬

So, well, I explained the problem to the employees at the store, but they couldn't help me. I then returned the Vision Pro and the two pairs of Zeiss inserts. It seems that Apple spent billions to develop the Vision Pro, but literally nobody could have anticipated the problem that I ran into. Seems like old guys like me are not the target market for the product (even though old guys like me have the money to buy the thing) 🤷‍♂️. June 30, 2007, I had an infinitely better experience picking up a first-generation product at the Apple Store. But that was under Jobs.

Don't understand. The prescription I sent in to Zeiss for prescription inserts has different values for each eye. Wouldn't that work since the lens for each eye would be different?

Now has a delivery date of 2/5. Notation above is now ‘cleared customs’. Guess ups can’t predict how long customs will take.

I photoshopped the dates on my prescription that expired this past December. They approved and and I will be receiving them tomorrow. My eyesight has been consistent for almost a decade

I assume you have a prescription to correct your distance vision. But what I need is the equivalent of reading glasses to correct my near vision.

Zeiss makes distance vision inserts customized to your specific prescription. But they don’t make near vision prescription inserts for the Vision Pro, at least for now, even though you can order such near vision prescription inserts from the Apple website!!!!

To get around this limitation, I ordered inserts that are the equivalent of over-the-counter readers that approximately cover my near vision prescription. I have one eye that needs a +1.0 correction and one eye with a +2.25 correction. Zeiss offers different ranges, including +0.75 to +1.25 and another one that’s +2.0 and above. These two ranges cover what I need. However: I can’t buy one +0.75/+1.25 insert for my left eye and a +2.00 and above insert for the right eye. Such an option does not exist on the Apple website!!! Instead, I bought two packs, one each for my relevant range, for a total of $198. But I can’t use them, because the Vision Pro’s software does not understand what I want to do… it assumes that anyone with reading inserts uses the same range for both eyes.

And that, for now, kills the possibility of me owning a Vision Pro.

If any of you had a similar problem and found a solution, please let me know.

Just ordered my prescriptions lenses (again) and prescription was approved 10 minutes later and has a delivery date for next week.

I'm curious what happens when you enter your prescription info on Zeiss' site. Does it say inserts are available for you?

I feel like someone had to have goofed somewhere saying that it's not possible. You certainly wouldn't be the only person like this and I haven't heard anyone else having this issue.

I fully understand your reaction of disbelief, because the situation seems absurd. So let me give you more details.

After I first ordered the reading prescription inserts and uploaded my prescription, I received an Apple email, subject: "There seems to be an issue with your prescription." I followed the link in the email to the Zeiss website, which said: "Prescription is for near or reading vision only." At first I thought I might have made a mistake and accidentally ordered distance prescription inserts. I also found the link that you posted in your message. Guess what, when I enter my reading prescription there, the Zeiss website told me then and also tells me right now that "ZEISS Optical Inserts are available for you."

So I cancelled the order and carefully placed a new order, making sure I'm really ordering reading prescription inserts, only to get the exact same error message again. That's when I first contacted Apple. They didn't know what was going on (and seemed pretty clued out about the inserts), but at least they connected me to a Zeiss representative. The Zeiss person told me that I'm seeing the error message because they're not making reading prescription inserts for the Apple Vision Pro. And of course the Zeiss rep did not believe me when I told her that the Apple website clearly and explicitly allows to order reading prescription inserts.

Like you, I thought I couldn't be the only person with this issue, and this prompted me to create an account here and post on the Forum, to see if someone else had the same issue or found a solution.

Quite interesting, because I started following Macrumors in 2004, when I switched from Windows to Mac OS X (good old days), but I never posted.

Anyways... maybe someone who had a similar experience or knows about a solution will read this.

I'll also call Apple again, but I'm not optimistic that they will know how to solve the problem or even understand. I told them twice (the last time one week ago) that they need to change the insert order process on their site so it doesn't offer something that doesn't exist. But no change has been made.

Nope. Near and far.

I see, thanks.

Could you clarify, please: I understand you got prescription inserts. In the prescription that you uploaded, is there at least one of your eyes that has a + sign in front the SPH (sphere) value, such as +1.50 ?

I'm asking because you might have, for example, a distance vision prescription of -3.00, but your optometrist might ad +1.00 for reading, and so your prescription would end up at -2.00. And yes, ZEISS makes prescription inserts for minus values.

I’m kind of lost…. I ordered prescription reading and mine are +.75/+1.00 no issue with zeiss at all. However - there was no pop up when I ordered about them being non-returnable but the order says they can’t be returned - I didn’t even pick up my VP because I changed my mind about buying it. I was not able to cancel the zeiss order a day after ordering it and now they are here and I can’t return them either. Would have been nice if there was some warning when purchasing because now I have a box of useless lenses and out $150 or whatever.

OK, thanks... this is super useful to know!!!!!! So there's hope for me. 😊

But yeah, I'm sorry you won't get your money back. This is anticipated, as the prescription is unique to you. If you're in luck, somebody has approximately your prescription and reads this.

BTW, why did you change your mind about the VP?
