I'm not sold on the new design. Would a 16gb 3GS with Update be that bad a Deal for $100 bucks?

I originally thought that it would be the same as the two previous generations (3G & 3GS) but in recent weeks with the finding of the prototype and the features of OS 4.0 I am leaning to a bump up in price.

I agree with you, which is why I voted that the price could end up being higher than the 3GS.

It all depends on your needs. If you can live without the higher MP camera with flash, there is nothing wrong with getting the 3GS now for $100, and doing the 4.0 update when it's released.

I say same pricing, but they might offer a 3GS for a cheaper price like they did with the iPhone 3G

what about an 8GB 4G......

discontinue every current model, 3G, 3GS

8gb 4G
16gb 4G
32gb 4G

I don't see the 3GS going away any time soon. For some, getting the 3GS for $100, and still having the ability to upgrade the OS to 4.0 is a better deal.

true, however apple's trend seems to be to discontinue when a new design is released (2G iPhone, ipods etc).

it wouldnt suprise me to see the 3GS phased out ready for the 4G become the norm.

Actually, it is the 3G model that is older than the 3GS, so, if any of the current models were to be discontinued it would be the 3G, not the 3GS. The 3GS won't be discontinued anyway, given the fact that the 4.0 upgrade and all of it's features will be supported on the 3GS.

we shall see i guess, nobody can really say whats going to happen apart from the people at Apple, either scenario is plausible.

i just wouldnt be suprised if the current models were phased out completely as it would be seen as an older model, something which apple never seem to do.

I should think the fact that Apple never made an 8GB 3GS and has now discontinued the 3G pretty much settles that question. 16 GB of NOR Flash RAM is cheap enough now that I don't expect Apple to make any more 8 GB phones.

Ooops! :p

FWIW, not bad logic, except that 16GB NAND hasn't dropped in price since last year.
