no love for the cmbp? so its true then that apple would let it linger and die...
wish the rmbp harddrive and memory would be user replacable ..

Why do people think the rMBP will get a slimmer design? That would make it at or near (or even slimmer) than the thickness of the MBA.. which it's whole point was to be a ultra thin and cheap laptop for Mac. It would make no sense right now to do that unless Apple wanted to unify the MacBook line in to ONE MacBook.

If you can't make the MacBook Air retinal, you make the Retina-MacBook Pro airy. Also, it's more powerful regardless of the height.

They should transform Air into a tablet hybrid already. The new Pros are rumored to be even thinner than before. It'll be within Air level very soon.

should be a lot more than that. Haswell is expected to give at least 9 hours of battery life.

I would love that. My hope is that I can order my new MBA Monday and have it by Friday. Longer battery life, better standard SSD and 8gb memory standard would be just awesome.

Was looking at getting a 15" rMBP after WWDC but if its later in the year will give me a wee bit longer to save to get a better spec machine :D

Aye, but if we don't mention it to them then it will never happen. Let them know periodically that there is a market. They're money driven.

Until they offer the ability to run legacy software they won't get my upgrade dollars and I know a lot of other people who are doing the same thing. I just keep fixing these older machines for them. Franky lives on...

It doesn't matter what you do, you can yell at them all you want with hundreds or thousands of folks, Apple WILL never do it. That's a fact based on their track records.

Apple always look forward, not the past. They will break backward compatibility as often as they can.

Your folks should move to Windows and stay there because those OS will be supported for a decade or longer. Apple is more like 3-4 years, which is decreasing over time.

Don't want that 37W HD4600 crap. Still hoping for a 28W HD5100 rMBP13 :(

Yeah me neither. There's a 37W quad-core which would be awesome (i7-4702HQ), but I hope Apple has a custom version of it that includes 5100 (or 5200!) graphics because 4600 would be quite disappointing.

That said, if this rumor is true, it doesn't look like we're even going to see updated rMBP Monday.

The MacBook Pro Retina will include the Iris Pro 5200 graphics which will ship in Q3 2013. It has been launched but won't be available till then, according to Intels website.

Secondly, the low display yield rates indicate Apple is going to switch to IGZO panels in the upcoming refresh. The production of these panels just startet, therefore the supply is not really high enough for a new rMBP just yet.

Combining the new display tech and the new Haswell chips, Apple will be able to reduce the power requirements and the heat substantially, resulting in the ability to make the body of the machine even slimmer.

There's also apparently a special way to underclock the 47W processors (with 5200 graphics) such that they only output 37W, but I didn't get a chance to check up on that.

The 13" as well? Which chip do you think they'd use?

Most Macbook air models are pretty constrained at stores right now, as are time capsules and airport extremes.

No screen updates for the MBAs make it look like Apple has lost the leading edge in the ultraportable market.

Longer battery life and dual microphones... are you kidding me? If this is the highligh of the hardware update, it is pathetic.

No surprise, no Haswell available product until Q3 coz the USB3 bug and the igzo display switch, instead apple will offer *new* macbook w/o Haswell but loaded with 8 02.1ac WiFi and maybe better cameras, sure lower pricing on ssd based devices but no new lines.

No retina MacBook Pros announced in WWDC then? That's a disaster...

As mentioned above, Apple has to wait for certain components becoming available. The additional waiting time will result in a substantially better product.

That the three other SKUs belong to Airport products has been mentioned by me two days ago.

Let's go. I'd love a new Air. The design itself is pretty perfect as it is now. All they need to do is bump the screen res (looks like crap compared to my rMBP) up and make it a little smaller with a smaller bezel around the display.

If by many you mean nobody then you would be right.

I've got half a dozen machines I would love to upgrade to MacBook Pro but I do not want the Retina version. I need and want the old I/O ports. The higher resolution screen has no appeal. The battery life, that's nice.

Like many small businesses and educators I also need Classic and PPC support. If Apple brings those back they'll find a lot of people upgrading older machines to the latest MacBook Pros. There is a lot of older hardware that needs connecting with our machines and a tremendous amount of older software that needs Classic/PPC.

A truly superb machine and MacOS would fully support running all iOS apps on the Mac, including iBooks, and support running all MacOS applications and data under iOS. I need to use my tools and data no matter what hardware I'm using. Even a lowly iPodTouch (love them, have six) has enough power to emulate the older Macs and Classic.

Time for Apple to offer backward compatibility to move into the future.

It's rumor. A little early to freak out.
