I live in Brazil, and the 13" rMBP costs US$ 3,000-US$ 3,500 here. I'll be in NY next week, and I'll have the chance to buy a 13" rMBP for US$ 1,500-US$ 1,700 or even less. If Apple releases the Haswell version during WWDC, then I'll buy it for the price it is sold in the US. However, if it doesn't, I get stuck with two possibilities: (i) buy the Ivy Bridge version for US$ 1,500-US$ 1,700 while I'm in the US; or (ii) buy the Haswell version whenever it is released, for US$ 3,000-US$ 3,500, or whatever the price Apple chooses to charge for it here in Brazil.

Either way I'll feel bad. I'll get either an outdated laptop or an overpriced one. I don't know which is worse. That's why it's a disaster. For me, at least.

Buy a better spec'd Ivy Bridge rMBP if you can afford. For USD 2600,00 you'll get the high-end 13" rMBP with 768GB SSD storage, 8GB RAM and a 3.0GHz i7. Looks like a good deal for brazilians giving that it costs less than the 128GB 13" rMBP sold in Brazil.

What are you talking about? Iris pro was launched this week according to Anandtech:

"The i7-4950HQ and i7-4850HQ are the only two Iris Pro 5200 parts launching today. A slower 2GHz i7-4750HQ will follow sometime in Q3."

Soft-launch, not hard-launch.
Hard-Launch date accoding to Intel (first hand source!!): Q3 2013
The other CPUs with 4600 GPU launched in Q2. This was also a hard launch.

By the way:
Apple did redesign the iPad and iPhone after one year in the market. Why not the retina MacBook Pro? If Apple can slim down the rMBP because of less battery-consuming CPUs and display tech: Why not take this opportunity to do so?

You do realize major manufacturers can get them early right?

Case in point, Sony has the Vaio Pro with the i7-4500U coming out June 9th.

On Intel's site, the 4500U is listed as Q3 but launched as well, just like the 4950HQ.

There's a difference between $500 iPad and $200 iPhones getting revamped yearly, but on a $2k laptop? Pretty crazy. As an early adopter, I'd be very angry.

What would the difference be between a 13" MBA with retina and a 13"MBP with retina?

Why don't you just get that one when it's refreshed?

There you go: One more reason why Apple is going to slim down the Retina MacBook Pro: Because it will ultimately be the Retina Air, even though it's called "Pro". :)

This is also [part of] the distinction of the 13" Air and the 13" Pro line, because as you have mentioned: There is no real distinction if Apple presents a 13inch Retina Air, therefore, the rMBP will just become the Retina Air.

Early Adopters are always left behind. Look at the first MacBook Air, which was an awfully expensive piece of crap.

13inch rMBP should get discrete graphics, whereas the rMBA have the upcoming crappy Intel integrated card. No reason why the 13inch rMBP shouldn't have a discrete graphics card at that price.

(or they combine the Air and 13inch Pro into one device and the Pro line just becomes the 15inch)

The reason why the 13" rMBP does not get dedicated GPUs is called Thermal Design Power.

Here in Germany, the rMBP is NOT in short supply. On the contraty, it is widely available in big quantities.
The MBA on the other hand are not really available anymore.
By comparing the two situations you could further support the rumor that the rMBP will indeed not be updated at WWDC and the reason for this has to lie in availability of certain components (IGZO, short display supply is named as one reason why rMBP are not released at WWDC; and Iris Pro).

Anyway, you may believe whatever you want. I have made my predictions pretty clear. :)

Pretty lame excuse, if you ask me. There are plenty of high end ultra-thin laptops out there with discrete graphics at around the same price point.

Yes, there are. With a battery life of under 5 hours and loud fans cuz of the higher TDP. Compromises have to be made.

According to what?

acording to every leak that came out... nothing says that we wil have the new macbook pro 15 at wwdc. basically in the week before of the event we have the basics of what will be released. five days and nothing about a macbook pro 15.

Lets hope storage gets a bump too, because 128GB standard isn't really feasible nowadays, especially not on a machine of this caliber. I'd like to see 256GB standard.

That's hit and miss. i only have 30gb of space used on my Mac mini, and that's all my files, pictures, and music.

Germany is a mid-market country? okay.^^
So, where is it in short supply?

In the US among major Mac distributors, Amazon, Mac Connection and B&H are running out of stock.

You're assuming everything that is going to be released has to be leaked. Apple is not as good as controlling them as before but they can still have a few surprises.

Further supporting my claims:

There are rumors about the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro getting a new design:
This is very well possible because: IGZO Panels in 13.3" format are being mass produced for months now, in contrast to the 15" panels, which are just entering production.

Secondly, the 13" won't get the Iris Pro graphics but the 4600 ones. These are widely available. The Iris Pro parts on the other hand are not. 15 inch rMBP will be updated later than WWDC.

BTW, it's 2:44 a.m where I live. Good night. :)
