They show tax for regular purchases, must be a bug with preorders. I'll be getting mine for in store pickup tomorrow with my RedCard from a tax free state. Yay, savings! And they open at 8am so if they screw me, I can still get to the Apple Store for store opening.I'm fully expecting to be charged the tax but couldn't they at least tell you what the tax is before you submit the order? Or at the least tell you that tax can't be displayed until the order ships. All they do is mark it as $0 with no disclaimer.
I feel that the $73.03 I got off my 128 GB wifi model at Target using Target card and 5% promo code is a best deal.Cellular models there will be deals because they want to lock you into paying monthly to them.
But WIFI models as everyone can see there simply is no "best deal" as it depends where you live. The best you can hope for is not to pay sales tax if you live in any state but the 4 only that dont charge tax.
In a state without tax, well obviously you always get the best deal since any % off doesnt go towards paying the sales tax and is off the item price.

To each his own. I prefer dealing with Target rather than a store in another state. The 3% buys me a basic case. I also like that my sales tax is supporting programs in my state.Unless you have no sales tax then the 10% pays your sales tax.
So if your sales tax is 7% then you saved 3% or $22 vs. ordering from a store that doesnt charge tax like B&H.
We're talking small amounts in the scheme of $600-800 though here (unless you live in a state without sales tax). $10-20 here and there.
Nice score!Occasionally, there are deals on gift cards on ebay for stores you can buy ipads from. Last week, ebay had Staples $100 gift cards for $85 with a limit of 5. I picked up 5, which means I got $500 of gift cards for $425. I pre-ordered through Staples the 32gb, which resulted in $525 before tax out of my pocket instead of $600. I don't know when the next deal like this will come up but they do periodically. Other than that, your best bet is to wait for sales/promotions.
My sales tax is 6%, but even if it was 7% - since when is saving $22 more not the better deal?
Depends how long you have to wait for one and it $22 is worth that in the grand scheme.
Pre-order is simply that, and these stores dont guarantee stock tomorrow. Only Apple does since they actually reserve one specifically for your order/pickup and dont sell it to someone else.
Well, technically you should pay tax regardless. Whether you choose not to and stiff your local taxing authority is your decision. But decisions have consequences.
Macmall like other retailers, only has to collect tax in states it has a physical location in. It can elect to in other states or if that state's tax law requires it regardless of location.
It's a state by state thing.
And I guarantee you the Target rep is wrong. Target has stores in every continental state that Im aware of.
Personally don't care if its just my name being shown but for all I know its some rule on here so I've edited it accordingly.^^ might want to edit to remove your name.
[doublepost=1459355472][/doublepost]Target isn't generally in the business of selling things that have a future release date. Therefore I think the 'backordered' term is just their gimmicky way of saying that your order is in the queue but the item isn't 'available' yet.
