I guess that would need a shift in mentality where there might be a true replacement of the MacPro as well.
If the rumors of a release of a MacBook Ultra are correct, then the replacement makes sense.

Because the new 32” version would be the Apple XDR Ultra Display.

another indication that apple do not care for "true" hard core pro audience

I think that is now obvious - no Pro Display XDR - no refresh for the Mac Pro in years...

Now the MacBook NEO - they are not interested any more in the "hardcore Pro Users" - instead they want to extend to entry level segments of the market.

Probably it makes sense in the term of revenue ...

Well, I succumbed to FOMO and ordered a Studio XDR. I am convinced that it’s a better display, albeit smaller. The refresh rate and brightness of the new display is excellent. This morning I ordered a second one for the loss in screen real estate from the Pro Display.

Anyone local want a great Pro Display XDR nano with stand? Local pick up in Houston only.

Hey guys I have a M3 Ultra Mac Studio and 3 of these new XDR displays and it's driving me insane.

On first boot all 3 worked, now only 2 work.
If I swap to the front port the third one works, but eventually stops. I move it again and it works (sometimes).

Any one else having issues?

Try this: keep computer on, keep monitors all plugged into computer, then unplug all the monitors from power, then plug all the power back at the same time. Thats what I’ve been having to do for my 2 ASD XDR and MBP M4 Pro.

Today I checked the new Studio Display XDR in our Apple Store very thorough...

It does not come close to our Pro XDR...

the 120Hz is a nice "party trick" - but screen estate rules - this 27" is tiny compared to a proper 32" 6K..

So hold on to our Pro XDRs as long as they are working - the new display does not even come close 🙄

Yeah would much prefer 6k "old" pro XDR over the new studio XDR. 120 Hz is nice and more light zones is awesome but in the end this means one needs 2 displays instead on one. camera is irrelevant an so are the speakers. heck I prefer to not have a camera and I always use my genelec monitors connected to my MOTU ultra sound interface.
hmm, I am such an idiot for not getting the real pro XDR and now it is a scarcity....

Once you do that does it keep working even after restart etc?

I think my XDR is dying. It will no longer connect to my work laptop (M4 Pro MBP). It tries to pop up the dialogue to allow a device to connect and then immediately closes. Curiously, it will still connect to my personal Mac Mini (M4) but only if I don't plug anything into its hub. As soon as I do that, it flashes repeatedly and won't stay connected. The problem follows multiple cables.

So, that's not quite 6 years of reliable use. About $1000/yr? Is that good?

I'm back to a 27" on my work machine. And while it does hurt going to the smaller size, I'm also noticing that the height of the XDR was maybe not ideal for me. Maybe multiple 27" monitors will be a better choice.

I’ll hold onto my PD XDR until it dies!

You lasted a whole week 😂

Well, shucks. I have really enjoyed my Pro XDR over the last (5?) years. Well, that is, after I got over the fact that I had just paid 6 grand for a monitor. Wouldn't mind having another one to really gain the desktop space, but never bit the bullet to send off that much money. But, Ebay might supply a second eventually. My Studio Display of a couple of years ago is a fine monitor, sitting beside my big beast, but it ain't no Pro XDR.

I'll keep my PRO Display XDR forever, will buy a new one when Apple or some other manufacturer release a 8K (38 to 40 inches) with at least 2000 nits, better tech and not speakers or cameras ...

My PRO Display XDR is working flawlessly since Jan 2020, around 10h per day, never a single problem ... more than 6 years later and not a single manufacturer capable to delivery such a pixel density and HDR brightness ...

I traded in the 32” 6K Pro Display XDR for 2 27” Pro Display XDR’s and the brightness (2,000 nits) is definitely worth it and I got used to the 2 displays, its much better. I didn’t want 2 displays but admitting that I now like the 2 new monitors.

2 new Pro Display XDR’s are better than 32” Pro Display XDR just because its now brighter than any monitor with 2,000 nits, it makes my new MacBook Pro screen which was as bright if not a little brighter than 32” Pro Display XDR, but this new Pro Display XDR makes my M5 MacBook Pro screen look dim. This OLED MacBook better be 2,000+ nits.

Hi everybody! Am I the only one who got this problem?
Every time that I turn on the computer and enter the password, the SD XDR (or the Mac? but it wasn't happening with my previous Studio Display) seems to restart, like when an update is installed.
There is no problem with it except this, so I don'i know if I should be worried?

Yep, always after a cold boot, never happened after a simple sleep, even one of several hours. Still curious cause it's the first time that I am experiencing this with a monitor.

After looking at the 6K Display list https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/the-complete-list-of-6k-32-monitors.2459226/ and reading reviews of the different models, I thought maybe the coming Acer might be for me.

I was using a NEC Spectraview 27" 2560x1440 Screen since 15 years. I calibrated it frequently and the colors are still spot on. But I really wanted to have more screen space. So the new 27" 5K does only give me mainly sharper images and text, but no more space. Yes probably in the scaling options you can set it to a higer resolution, but then on 27 inch it becomes extremly hard to read.

So I was searching the used listings for a long time. It is unbelivable how many fake offers are around. I was favoring the Nanotextur version, but it is hard to get second hand and often they have already damage on the surface.

Suddenly an offer for a standard glas version with stand popped up. It looked legit and I have picked it up including the Pro Stand on the weekend.
The inital impression is very good. It still takes time to get used to it. So far the reflections are not an issue as the display is placed textbook like, that means the window is 90 degree to the screen.

I hope it lasts long. I do not think it will be as robust as the industrial style NEC one. Sadly they do not make these kind of products any longer. Only EIZO, but they are limited to 4K resolution only.

So I am also very late Pro Display XDR owner now 🙂
