Well, then we'll start checking the backs of phones.

Cause you KNOW... people can still look at the back of that phone. It's gotten to that.

The only way the iPhone 7 wouldn't sell is if it was cheap. Remember the iPhone 5c? Apple most certainly swept that one under the rug.

But! None the less! This iPhone 7 will remain a status symbol! NONE! THE! LESS!

Because people have to have that. As long as it's expensive I don't care but I have to have something that I can find, that I can use to project my superiority over all the lessors

Now everybody line up!
Haha. You got it. Flaunt away and project you superiority. Hopefully it'll be a superior phone as well.

My current phone is the 6S Plus and it's been my absolute favorite of all my iPhone's back to the 3GS. I had the 6 Plus but as much as I loved the larger phone - that one was such a dog. This one has worked just like it should. I most likely won't trade up this fall unless this need to flaunt comes out. Kidding - no flaunting here.

True but why would you want to?

Because my battery is dead? You know Apple just keeps making the phone thinner at the cost of battery life. Then to make it so you can't charge and listen to music or watch videos at the same time will kind of suck. I'm sure they will make a 79$ adapter just like the Macbook.

Like I said in a previous post, the iPhone is no longer a status symbol IMO. The damn thing can be bought at Wal-Mart for crying out loud. Even the hole in the wall cricket stores sell the iPhone. This isn't 2007 anymore, where the elusive iPhone was only able to be bought via AT&T or Apple...and all other non AT&T people had to go without. Flaunting an iPhone, especially in 2016, is just so...ugh
Iphones have a beautiful classic design that I like over the competition, but in 2016 with cell phones as ubiquotos as they are it's out of place to flaunt any smartphone.

who flaunts an iPhone and who cares? People amaze me.

Agreed. I got the SE coming from the 5s and the fact they look identical doesn't bother me at all. Allows me to use the same cases so it's a good deal

The added benefit to the SE looking just like the 5&5s is that nobody will think to steal it.

That may be true but when people get held-up...their phones get taken anyway along with the wallet/purse, watch, jewelry, etc.

And if thieves are demanding that findmyphone be turned off first, it's even more meaningless. Thieves are smarter too now.

But that's true for anything. My wallet could be filled with coupons and food stamps. And even so, I've been held up, and the discriminating thief demanded watches and jewelry, and took the time to throw the cheap stuff onto the ground and keep only the valuables. Of course in that situation, no thief is going to leave you with any phone so as to make it easier for you to call for help, either. Armed robberies are relatively minor compared to crimes of opportunity.

I've seen phones snatched off tables, or stolen when accidentally left behind. I had a friend whose apartment was robbed and a draw full of old iPhones was opened, searched, but all the old iPhones left behind.

Point being, these smart thieves of which you speak, are still probably going to be not interested in a $399 phone either, even if they are aware of the SE. A thief is not likely going to run the risk, when they know the payoff is so low.

Am I the only one that's annoyed that the rose gold color is not rose gold at all? It's literally pink, nothing about it is rose gold. Rose gold looks like a copper color. A lot of rose gold brass instruments look copper and so does a lot of rose gold jewelry. If people's idea of Rose gold is pink, they don't know what Rose gold is.

If word of the SE hasn't reached their ears by now, they will.

Someone looking for a score so they can get high, get money, etc isn't too bothered by what kind of phone you have unless the screen was cracked, full of scratches, and such.

Small consolation to say you were robbed by a discriminating crook.

Yet for common people, "rose gold" is anything they think it is "rose gold". They don't actually search for color table and try to determine "which rose gold is legit rose gold".
So they just think "hmm this color looks sexy/cute/lovely, I like this color". Nothing more.

I was addressing your point about crooks being smarter. Again, such a crook looking for a score is not going to care whether you have an iPhone or not. You're moving the goalposts here. At the end of the day, most people are going to have their iPhones stolen as crime of opportunity, and from people who traffic in such goods, not necessarily drug addicts, or muggers. And I'd argue that a crack-head is not likely even going to care if you phone has cracked screen or scratches either.

Most thieves who would smash your car window to steal your radio, are going to check to see if it's worth it before they go to the trouble and risk. Same thing for an iPhone. Such a thief is going to notice a shiny new rose gold 6s Plus, over an SE, whether they know it's an SE or not. And that's going to be a lot of the the thefts that occur. Someone stealing for drug money is not going to care. Someone mugging people indiscriminately is not going to care. So if I can't thwart whatever percentage of thieves who would otherwise not be interested in an old or cheap phone, and still get flagship technology that meets my needs, I see that as a plus.

"Problem with the iPhone 7 is you can't flaunt it."

I'm 6'4" 220 blonde hair and blue eyes. Flaunting the iPhone, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, you guy are hilarious. :)

Unless you hide it in another case, you can flaunt it. Space black option looks good enough to hide the antenna lines on the back which is what made the 6 series so ugly with its rears. Bigger models has a dual camera setup. No headphone jack and physical home button.

The iPhone 7 has slightly more cosmetic differences than 3G/3Gs, 4/4s, and 5s/SE. I think iPhone 7 is a bigger update inside/outside than what it gets credit for and an iPhone model easier to differentiate than from the 6/6s and 5s/SE if they were all laid down next to each other.

And this is all before you need to differentiate them all with an underwater test... ;)

why was the Rose Gold 6s the best selling ever because you could flaunt it. It's a social filter hey look at me new cool iPhone showing off even at the Apple Store. I'll stop there.

From all looks at the iPhone 7 coming unless you look up close no one can tell. Even if it's all black it looks just like anyother All black phone out there.

It's gonna be thinner really is that necessary ?

Unless people with an iPhone 6 or 6s like losing a feature they have no reason to update their devices.

So despite several enhancements the iPhone 7 Achilles heel is that you can't flaunt it.

In case you are wondering the Lightning port audio is confirmed by recent leaks and Apple liquidating all it's Wired BEATS headphones last month $300 down to $149 $200 down to $80 even $50 in some stores. And heck you can already buy Lightning port headphones at Apple.com from other vendors.

How can you be "TheRealAlex" if you depend on your phone for social status?

Like I have told others, when you get married and have a kid you will gladly toss your precious phone to the kid to use as a pacifier for a trade of a few minutes of peace and quiet! Your priorities will not be your phone for sure!:p

Salt water and sand...go for it.

^ Is that really a carbon copy of the iPhone 6 series that we can't flaunt it? If Apple decides to revamp again next year with all-glass, this year's iPhone 7 might be the most unique design since the original iPhone in 2007. We should be good until 2020 if the 2017 iPhone comes up with a design prone to more issues.

This makes me feel relieved NOT getting iPhone SE which is practically identical to the 5s in design and "4 just isn't suited for me to type on. Just throwing down $400-$500 for a recycled three-year old design. No SE buyer's remorse here. The only reason why rose gold for the SE was so popular was because that was the only color option to differentiate itself from the 5s. I'm a dude, so I don't want some girly color like rose gold!

Apple is finally slowly winning this Android fanatic back with the 7 and they are lowering everyone's expectations including their's while doing so. In a year where critics are raving about the S7 edge too. The jump from 5s to 6/6 Plus was mainly for screen size. The 7 actually has features I want that I've been waiting for years like waterproofing and space black option to hide those ugly antenna lines!

In the Year of the Monkey (I'm one, born 1980) being a leap year where I saw an amazing finish for the NCAA basketball game, Game 7 of the NBA Finals where The Chosen One went from villain to hero, Captain America: Civil War, an eventual Summer Olympics and US Presidential Election, THIS IS THE YEAR to get an iPhone 7. The most meaningful iPhone one year upgrade since going from 3Gs to 4.

Actually the most meaningful upgrade was the 5s. Touch ID and 64 bit technology. Consumers don't understand the importance of 64 bit, but for the geeks that know the advent of 64 bit in mobile phone computing opened up new doors to innovation.

The way Apple implemented Touch ID was an innovation that phone manufacturers rushed to copy.

The iPhone 7 is going to be a great upgrade as opposed to the most meaningful upggrade.

Maybe Apple will go 128 bit and leave the competition scrambling.

What kind of loser flaunts or attempts to flaunt something eleventy gazillion other people have?

"Congrats! You have the new iPhone! So does that chick day drinking hard on her porch on a Tuesday with the barefoot kids. Welcome to the privileged elite."

while I agree that flaunting a phone is silly, I honestly have no idea what your physical size and features have to do with anything.

I think they are implying that because they are blonde and tall they are already attracting attention.
Of course my wife is 5"2, brunette and my idea of perfection! We are all different.
