Caved and ordered both an 8 and 8 Plus, couldn’t decide on the size but I know I can return the one I don’t want. Damnit Apple, you make a simple attractive colour change to 6 month old hardware and you got me ordering! Only you can get away with this from me!
The marketing kings.

Its sharp looking, and definitely a stand out color considering most phones these days are silver/grey/black with the occasional gold.

Not a fan of the whole [Product Red] stuff though. Too many questionable things going on with that.

Availability in Brazil, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and other regions will follow later in April, followed by Chile, Colombia, India, Israel, Turkey, and more regions in May.

Available for preorder today, delivered on April 16th.

Note: It's The Netherlands

Good response... and my eyes are already on the slippery slope from too much time looking at screens all throughout my day as it is. Don’t need one more thing helping me along, lol.

I’m really loving the red-black combo. Kind of regret getting a silver 8 Plus. The white front is okay, black was better. I’m going to wait to see it in person before deciding what to do. They will probably discontinue the Product RED version before the 2018 iPhone releases, otherwise I’d definitely wait until that time. Decisions. Decisions.
Thank you.

I have a silver 8 Plus, too. I had a tempered glass protector from Supershieldz with black edges that gave me back a black front, albeit with a silver ringed white home button for a time. It was a fun look.

I’ve since gone back to a white look for the phone but am missing the black Supershieldz again.

I use cases, but most of them still let me see much of my iPhone’s color. I think I’d enjoy a red iPhone. I had a gorgeous black fronted red HTC 10 and really loved that look. But I really like the clean look of the silver and white so I have no regrets. I can pass this phone on to a kid who is currently on an SE if I decide I really want the red, though.

I’m definitely upgrading my teenager’s 7 Plus to a red or a Space Grey 8 Plus and getting the Apple Care Plus on it. That’s got to last her through all of high school. We had hoped the 7 Plus would have done the job, but that phone has developed problems similar to the ones mine had that prompted me to trade up to an 8 Plus ahead of schedule.

If someone preorders this on the AT&T Next installment plan, do you know when the installment plan start date is? The day of the preorder, the day it ships (the 13th), the day it's delivered, or the day it's activated?

I don't get what the big deal is. Apart from the colour, what's the difference and who cares?

Allow me to educate you slightly, by re-introducing a a new Color, it helps rejuvenate sales and sparks interest for those who maybe were contemplating purchasing an iPhone, and his new Color is eye-catching enough where it might entice the consumer to have a second look at the iPhone 8 Where or even a different color/model that they were considering before. Its called marketing, iPhone sales are usually slower 6 to 7 months after the initial launch, this may refreshed Color may be beneficial.

Fun fact: The color red is also extremely popular in China, being that iPhone sales are vastly important as a global phone, this phone will likely do very well in China because the red color symbolizes “Good luck.”

I don't think this will be around long enough for a price cut. I may be mistaken, but I think that the Produce(red) iPhone 7 was gone months before the introduction of the iPhone 8.
The red iPhone 7 is still available at Apple stores, even today, at least in my region.

Why is Apple now so afraid of color?

Non-starter for me. The tipping point to not get the 8 or X is how T-Mo missed the deadline on the chipset to get additional frequencies in there....specifically, Band 71. I'll wait until X Plus.

Well if I could see the links to the research they did that would be great. I have seen preliminary research indicating there can be eye damage from some exposure to IR beams, but they didn’t study effects of the kinds and strengths of the light in this particular application for biometric authentication in cell phones. Nor what happens over the course of frequent exposure.

My husband and I and a few other forum members have already experienced cumulative progressive severe eye pain from iris scanners in smart phones. I do think Apple has a smarter implementation than the iris scanner we used, but right now with no published data to consult, I don’t care to trust the gift of eyesight to this particular application of LED laser technology. My husband is fine with it, that’s his choice as an adult. The kids are a different matter.

Already, Apple’s particular presentation of OLED has landed some forum members in the ER or their doctor’s office with severe migraines, despite their never having experienced migraines. This type of OLED has been used before. Yet Apple didn’t seem to anticipate this effect on some of its customers.

So I don’t blindly trust any company, not even Apple, to look after my or my family’s health and safety. The CPSC site is filled with recalls due to reports of death and injury to customers from products that had been successfully marketed for years. Like the crib I used for my own baby.
Very nice and comprehensive write-up. However, the elements in it need to be proved by competent professionals. Hence, as it always does in the forums, the write up like this is merely a personal opinion which cannot be depended on scientifically.

In school they should teach children how to create a fund, charity or cancer "research" organization. There would be no more poverty in this world.

$99 for a phone case. Yah. Welcome to the new world.

LMAO. At least it doesn't cut into the top of the screen.

How would you design the X with an edge-to-edge display AND the front-facing camera tech?

I'm waiting to see your brilliant design.
