Like the phone, but not the folio.

ah but the Folio makes the "no bezel" look smaller as it hides a bit as it encapsulates.

Seriously when you look at an 8 and an X instore, the bezel looks almost the same. The ads have pretty highlights on the X to make it look smaller.

Samsung have definitely done a better design job with full side wrap and clean top/bottom bezels. Six months on and a few copycat Androids, the notch still looks wrong to me. I like that they use the extra space for info and sensors. But they could have put a black background and made it less obvious. It looks like a compromise they got wrong. Bit like the antenna plastic spacer band on the 6 they moved and refined in the 7. I guess I would cope better with the bezel if it was uniform (ie no notch) but achieving that currently is to hard. There has to be a way to put the notch sensors in the 3mm bezel but it might require NexGen screen tech.

Can you imagine if they released a red X? People would be going bonkers on whether to sell their current X to get one and the folks on the fence would pull jump on it. By people, I mean the usual lurkers on here because the general public could care less as they slap a giant otterbox case on it.
Even more fabulous: i will sell my iPhone X after I get my hands on a 8 Plus RED! I had the X since the first day of availability, and the the form factor makes it feel crammed.
Give me a phone with bezels, the ability to read my emails in the car in landscape mode, the finger print unlock allowing me to unlock my phone without needing to face it - IN PORTRAIT MODE ONLY... give me a normal screen ratio, wider that is, with the wider keyboard as a consequence, yes!!

I am happily looking forward to this pseudo upgrade! I feel claustrophobic in this (kinda) edge to edge screen!

I didn’t even mention the controversial notch that seems to have lost its controversiality... djeezes, people... why not be against it?? I’m happy to do away with that nonsense, if it’s not being dealt with with common sense in the UI (see below)

However not available trough carriers in Germany.
Apple Store only, it appears here in Sweden...

That was my instant imagination of a optimal experience for that damn notch, when I had my X during the first days. I was thinking hard: what would Steve do to deal with this? Make it real estate only available to the OS, white on black if anything at all - on both sides of the then not visible stupid notch. Makes totally sense to me too!
Edit: with equal radii on top and bottom corners of the main UI, that would have to be...

Good to see they got the color combination right this time around. Red back, black front.

Am I the only one that thinks the red phone is ugly and particularly juvenile with a black front? I feel like if you asked a 5 year old what they wanted their phone to look like they would say red and black.

Not that the red/white candy cane was much better, but it didn't seem as juvenile as this imo.

You Shouldn’t be flamed for your opinion, but nor does that mean others have to agree with you either.

That said, I don’t think the term “Juvenile”
Is the appropriate word to describe the red back/black front, Perhaps its just not your color combination preference. Apple even offering a black front that Has been requested for quite some time, shows they were at least acknowledging and or possibly listening to the customer base. That I do credit them for.

Exactly. One can likewise write ridiculous things about the golden phone being too much for 14 year old instagram girls, or about the black one being as boring as a halogen cooking stove.

Imagine that, huh... Actually, that should firstly apply to software: Better be excellent on the inside, rather than hyping about colours...

Its red - yawn. Please Apple put some time into bettering the design of the Samsung. So far the X doesn't even come close to the elegance.

Well if I could see the links to the research they did that would be great. I have seen preliminary research indicating there can be eye damage from some exposure to IR beams, but they didn’t study effects of the kinds and strengths of the light in this particular application for biometric authentication in cell phones. Nor what happens over the course of frequent exposure.

My husband and I and a few other forum members have already experienced cumulative progressive severe eye pain from iris scanners in smart phones. I do think Apple has a smarter implementation than the iris scanner we used, but right now with no published data to consult, I don’t care to trust the gift of eyesight to this particular application of LED laser technology. My husband is fine with it, that’s his choice as an adult. The kids are a different matter.

Already, Apple’s particular presentation of OLED has landed some forum members in the ER or their doctor’s office with severe migraines, despite their never having experienced migraines. This type of OLED has been used before. Yet Apple didn’t seem to anticipate this effect on some of its customers.

So I don’t blindly trust any company, not even Apple, to look after my or my family’s health and safety. The CPSC site is filled with recalls due to reports of death and injury to customers from products that had been successfully marketed for years. Like the crib I used for my own baby.

Hi GrumpyMom, I wanted to send this message privately, but it didn’t work. So I hope you’ll see this message here.

Hi,
I just wanted to apologize for being rude with you. I don’t know what hit me. I was banned from the forum for a few days, and deservably so. So, sorry about your eye problems with the iris scanner, and, once again, sorry for being disrespectful in my previous post.
Cheers!

Having the X since launch when i look at a 8 or plus the bezels are horrible lol guys just wait till August its only a colour
Why wait? I love my red 8 plus. Hate the X and returned it after a week when launched. Not everyone likes the X. There are still quite a lot of people who love the home button and full sized screen. The X in landscape is small compared to the plus sized iPhones. You just can’t keep waiting until the next gen just because it “may” be better.

I think the opposite. The candy cane looked more juvenile. Red and black are made to go together. Imo.

why downgrade, its just a colour people acting like a colour makes everything diff lol
Why is the 8 plus a downgrade? It has the same A11 chip. 3gb of ram. Just because it doesn’t have a notch doesn’t make it any worse than the X. Look at the sales figures for just the 8 not the plus and it’s out selling the X. And that’s in July.
