Is Apple really having production issues or are they purposely not funding a fast production?

  • Really having issues they don't know how to fix

  • Lying, they're not funding a fast enough production

I don't
1. Demand for a new iPhone near release is usually much higher then demand for a new Samsung. 2. The Note 8 is basically an S8 with a stylus. 3. Samsung is Apple's only supplier for the OLED panel with 3D Touch, so shortages can be expected based on demand. 4. Apple doesn't care about having your respect.

I'm sure they don't care to have my respect, but if a company like Apple (who truly values their customers) doesn't care to have the respect of one of their customers, then that's just greed and narcissism. Maybe you are, but I don't think Apple would treat their customers or would a reply in the same way that you did. Apple has more dignity than you have expressed toward me - a complete stranger.

Nintendo is always blamed of the same thing

Companies with direct competitors do not purposley short inventory to create a fake supply demand, many consumers are not brand loyal and will just buy something else if they cant get it.

Apple does not want shortages on purpose

Hi, please explain how I am silly. Thanks :)

You have literally made multiple threads in the last few days, 2 today alone, regarding the production delays of the X which hasn't been released yet and then try to justify it by comparing it to the release of the Note 8.

Its a brand new product with a bunch of first time technology (for Apple) that millions and millions people are going to order at once. And then if you believe the rumors that Apple was still attempting to incorporate TouchID under the display as recent as June. Of course there will be delays. Order it early or expect to have to wait for it. Or go get a Note 8 ;)

Yet, Samsung came back after having a phone that literally blows up in your hands, to meet customer's demands even before the release date. I'm losing respect for Apple.

It took them the better part of a year to 'come back and meet customer's demands'. Also, the demands had shifted to other, non-explodey devices by then.

But really OP, did you need TWO threads to complain about the same topic? Geez.

I did, 'cause it was two slightly different angles I was trying to speak from

I am ordering early, I just want to make sure I get it within first two weeks of release by ordering through carrier.

Poll fail.

I don't believe they're lying.

However I do believe they're doing their best with what they currently have with their current production volume. The production volume and supply issues will work themselves out as they get more experience manufacturing the X and eventually switch to nothing but X form factor.

Why waste hundreds of millions on new CNC machines and assembly robots and more labor when they will just sit unused the rest of the year and not earn any money.

Apple got to where they are now by being smart with their money. Not dumb.

Kind of like Blizzard when Diablo 3 came out. Lots of server errors and disconnects. Blizz could've sunk hundreds of thousands on new servers that would be sitting unused right now.

Bean counter at the helm, I can guarantee that everything revolves around maximizing profits first and everything else last. Which is the exact opposite of how SJ did things. RIP.

Husband and wife embrace one another with the wife telling the husband she loves him with all her heart. The husband replies that he loves her as well with all his heart, but can't believe she has been cheating on him and lying to him for several months. In shock the wife demands an explanation. The husband replied, you haven't been getting home from work at the exact moment that I expected you to each day. The wife replied, it is your insecurity that has failed you each day, not my love.

Samsung makes OLED panels for probably a dozen different phones and has been doing so for years to the tune of hundreds of millions of units but now they are suddenly inept and can’t make OLED screens and are holding Apple back?

Are you sure?

There's no issues they can't fix. It's simply there are production limits to OLED. And no company on earth has to meet the sales demands of such complex products at such a rapid rate like Apple has to.

Different specs and requirements. That makes a difference.

I love Apple but every year they have a certain model iPhone that has production delays. This year, it's the iPhone X. Apple proudly admits their fixes to every release of iOS in order to make the operating system more convenient and smarter. So, you'd think they'd do the same and learn from mistakes on iPhone production errors. It's just silly that they have production issues on the new iPhone that is supposed to be groundbreaking.

Like, "oh, we have this amazing new smartphone that does all this cool stuff but we're not smart enough to fix our production line errors that we've had for ten years. So, you won't get one on release day unless you wait outside the store overnight to try and get one of the 4 units that your local Apple store has" It's so frustrating!! Apple is better than this. I feel like we're being treated like mindless sheep.

They do it to control any negative feedback imo. Releasing in batches allows them to almost have beta testers for batch 1. From the feedback they recieve any negatives can be improved upon in batch 2-3-4 etc all the while batch 1 (impatient adopters) can be made to look like the issues they have do not exist because how can everybody else be non-symptomatic..right?

Releasing in batches ensures any negative feedback is minimal or at least balanced with positive user experience per batch. One single mamoth release with issues/bugs could be potential landslide of negativity. Batch release allows them to be continually perfecting/manufacturing until they have acceptable product that have rigorously tested.
Its supply and demand with the benefit (for apple) to use their own consumer base as incrimental testers, also over production can be minimised by batch production, batch release.

Ironically, you are displaying quite a bit of narcissism by thinking that a huge company like Apple with millions and millions of customers would be even able to care about your singular respect. You are no different than the other millions of people. When we start dealing with a scale like we are dealing with, it just isn't realistic to expect any company to do everything exactly the way you want.

Apple has the ability to basically delay ALL other companies getting products out during the September through October timeframe.

IIRC Nintendo or another company was having trouble getting shipments out of China last year as Apple had taken basically the entire shipping capacity for a time.

So yes, it is conceivable that Samsung is the bottleneck on producing OLED panels that meet Apple's stringent standards.

Production delays? How do you know? Maybe the delay was intentional and planned, so they could move more iPhone 8 units.

Rest assured, every production move Apple makes is choreographed and orchestrated down to the last detail for reasons you can't even begin to comprehend.

Some people need to quit the S8 with a stylus mess. The iPhone X is therefore a iPhone 8 with OLED and face ID then and has the same ram as the iPhone 8 Plus and less screen viewing area. The Note 8 at least gives you 6 GB ram instead of 4 gb ram that's on the S8 while you are all stuck with 3 gb ram. The Note 8 also has a larger screen and doesn't have to worry about a ugly notch that gives you effectively a 4.7 inch screen . Furthermore, the S pen brings tons of additional features instead of Animojis being your main feature.

I never said I know better than Apple, but I do agree with Chris Pirillo.

I wonder if Apple is pushing us to buy the 8. I want the sim-free, but if I don't get one by Dec./Jan., I might as well wait for XS.

Apple can't push a consumer to purchase an iPhone. They can advertise and market an iPhone, but that doesn't mean somebody will find value in one current model iPhone to purchase. The iPhone will sell itself to a certain demographic, those who want the latest technology or those who want an iPhone for the sake of upgrading from an older device to something newer.
