Prominent Haptic On or off ?

I agree, it could be stronger in normal mode and then it would not be missed.

It's highly likely that Apple will correct this with the upcoming second gen watch.

I'm pretty sure they could adjust it via a software patch

Coming from a Pebble, I'm used to the stronger buzz. So I am using Prominent. Its still possible to distinguish between different types of notifications because the Prominent haptic happens just before the actual notification.

Also, a factor in how the haptic feels to people is how loose you wear your Watch. I tend to wear mine loose most of the time, except when i'm working out.

Brightness, I'm using slightly less than default. No issues except in the brightest of sunshine.

How can you do this? I can only set the brightness to high, middle (default), or low. There isn't any granular setting that I can see

Taptic on the highest setting and brightness in the middle. Both are default settings and both work fine so far.

If I could change anything about the taptic it would be to have a hole in my watch band between the one I have it on now and one smaller. I think I will look into something like the loop band in the future for something more adjustable for fit. Right now I'm either a little loose or a little tight. (middle of two holes) I feel the taps better on the tighter setting of course but I don't want to wear it like that all day.

It's a defective part as well documented in the blogosphere and acknowledged by Apple.

To show us how careless Apple is and how blase they are about the customer experience...they knew about this prior to the watch shipping, said "oh well" and shipped them anyway.

It's Good to be Apple, the 800 lb Gorilla that can slap us around, smile, and get away without consequences. Supported by millions of Apple Disciples, it's just part of their game.

Remember in this society it's who has the most money that wins... :)

They said none of the defected problems went out, they caught it before shipping.

I turned brightness down and prominent haptic off. Once I get some run time with haptic off I will see if I need to turn it back on.

Edit haptic back to prominent on. Just to weak without it.

That's Apple Spin.

Do NOT get me wrong. I LIKE Apple!

A customer of years that's spent tens of thousands of dollars, I'm also a very long term shareholder.

But I am an advocate for customers who spend their money on Apple gear. If Apple pulls one of their shady moves I'm not here like some to suck up to Apple and defend their decision.

Fact is all you have to do is walk away from the Proprietary Walled Garden Of Apple out into the sunshine of the real world to find many associates in Apple Stores happy to acknowledge the defect and replace the watch. My brother had just such an experience.

It's not personal, it's about your lack of knowledge. Apple have acknowledged that no devices with faulty Taptic Engines got into customers hands.

That story is all over the web today. It's the Pro-Apple press who were cultivated, nurtured, and handsomely rewarded by the ever so creative and brilliant Steve Jobs.

Out to do Apples bidding to share in the spotlight they've got everyone convinced that Apples perfect, beyond reproach, and never to be questioned.

I think Apple is indeed a brilliant world class operation. But perfect, I doubt it.

I could give several examples of their denials of responsibility until in rare cases they simply could not hide or get away with duping their buyers.

The video / graphics / logic board issue on MBP's as one, now many years of user agony, lost wages, and cost of replacement later, Apple is FORCED to do the right thing and not defraud buyers.

Off. I think the mormal is either at or vey near max.

Brightness is default. Been on my wrist for 11 hours and still have 55% battery left.

Having had some time with haptic off, as stated above it's a long pre-notification of in bound taps that will require your attention to discern what type of notification that is being received. I wish Apple would release the haptic patterns one should expect from each notification. It may be published but I'm not aware of it.

As for brightness I dropped to the min and battery life is much better. I find the min setting perfectly adequate and not a compromise to save battery. I didn't have an issue with battery life before changing, I just wanted to see what happens.

Im actually having a hard time feeling the taptic. I tried all the settings low middle. Sometimes I get notified and the taptic doesn't work even though the notification comes in. I sent myself a message to test and sometimes works and sometimes does not. My watch was manufactured week 16, I hope it does't have a faulty taptic in it. I wish they used the motors to vibrate like in the iphone, maybe to big...Anyone else having problems with taptic to soft or not working consistently?

Thanks

and how is your brightness set ?
I heard in a podcast someone said turning the brightness down helped with battery life a lot

prominent haptic on. brightness in full mode. getting notifications for just about everything. 40 minute workout with exercise app running. put watch on at 100% at 8 a.m. and watch still has around 49-45 battery life left at 1 a.m.

Prominent OFF / Haptic HIGH / Sound MUTE / Brightness LOW

I still think the Haptic is to weak on the lowest setting, but I don't like how jarring the Prominent is. I have had some missed notifications but still don't know if its from the weak Haptic or if the watch is failing to alert me at all.

Turning the brightness down to LOW after the first few days definitely made a noticeable change in my battery life.
