Just as it's written...
Frankly I've always just though "Mithra-nudo" as a mental shortening.
Basically your name and Menudo, smashed together. For no reason other than I'm too lazy to try and mentally pronounce it correctly.

No ****? I've been pronouncing it as "ex-SEH-dri-NAM" :eek:
Me too. D'OH!

I got V & Devilot's right, but just asssumed it was "Ann-Kay", and always though it was "scheme-oh".

EMW has always been (and always will be): Eee-em-wah.

Ah, here it is, Ankh. That's how I assumed it should be pronounced. :p And I agree w/ you on Scem0's pronounciation... always read it as "scheme-oh" (even though I think it's the number zero).

Cool. Think I'll have to pronounce it like that myself from now on. "Life", very nice. :)

*back to topic, sorry*

I'm not even going to bother posting in this thread.
Haha, why not? Don't you folks over there pronounce it differently; "skoonk" vs "skuhnk?" :p

No fair, I was waiting for yours!

Ok, I'll do it, get it wrong, and you'll have to correct me:

Mit-thraw-noo-ROO-OH-doo

:p
I honestly don't know... that's why I tried the easy way out... but I guess you're fairly close... :)

I've actually never heard it pronounced - except when I've been asked - but I read somewhere that the 'thrawn' part is pronounced just like 'prawn', so that should make it something like mitt - thrawn - ooroo - odo

If someone has the audio book versions of the Thrawn trilogy I'm actually interested in knowing how they pronounce it there... :)

And, BTW, like devilot, I've always "pronounced" your username as "ankh", too... ;)

Haha, me too :D. I've been saying "vee-nigh-oww" for your username, but I've always thought of you as just V :).

Heh, you and a good sized chunk of the rest of the population. As I mentioned before, its 4/5ths of it is my last name, specifically the last four letters and people are always saying it like that. It annoys me to no end. I can't blame them too much though, I haven't seen anyone else with that name so there's not much of a reference point. Its also funny that people are expecting me to be Asian or something because of it if they see my name before they see me. :rolleyes:

Must confess that my brain reads it as Mithraw-mumblemumble-doh

Devilot in my mind was just devil-ot

scem0 was skeem-oh

Aside from that, the rest seemed fairly logical - although emw, I make a dubya at the end rather than a wah

I accept any number of pronunciations...

In my head it's always "Ay-Tee-Sy-man" but what's in my head and reality often disagree.

It's my first 2 initials and the first 6 letters of my last name. Been my standard ID on the net for the past 11 years.

although the following are also acceptable

"atsy-man"
"at-sy-man"
"Ay-Tee-Sha-man"
"at-sha-man"
"dumb-ats"

contrary to what you might think, I pronounce my name:

"BLAH - CLaKVOX"

It's Greco-Slavic-Yiddish in origin.

Mine is Lau to rhyme with Mau, as in Chairman. :p My real name is Laura, but it's not Law, or Lorr, or anything, oddly. Blame my 12 year old mates (when I was also 12 :p ) for the name.

There's quite a few here I was getting wrong. I always thought of vniow as vn-ee-OW, devilot as devil-ot, annk as "ank", even though I know it's Ann-Kay :D, and scem0 as "scheme-OH". Xsedrinam, like emw, I thought of as "ex-SEH-dri-NAM". What's the two asprin reference? :eek:

Strangely enough, I always thought that was how it was pronounced. When I realised it was short for Laura I then convinced myself that I'd been wrong all along and that I should be pronouncing it as 'Law'... :eek:

Mostly if someone has an odd looking name I just glance at it, get a completely wrong pronunciation in my head and stick with that. So Mitthrawnuruodo is Mith–ran-doh, vniow is 'vin-oh', devilot is 'dev-low' and so forth.

Personally, my username is written 'Jaffa Cake' but it's actually pronounced 'Fanshaw'...

It really doesn't matter to me but in my mind my handle is pronounced 'skim-oh'.
I've always said SKEE-mo, matching the sound EEE-mo which is how I thought your nickname of Emo was pronounced (with the sc added for "Starcraft"). Is Emo pronounced IM-oh?

Doctor Q is easy to pronounce, but some people have addressed me in the forums as DrQ. I hope that's not pronounced dirk! :eek:

Thanks vniow for the thread. I've been wrong on so many names.

Jon, I think of as seven -on
vniow = vee-nyow
scem0 = skehm - oh
annk = ahnk or on-kah
and mitt - thrawn - odo
exidrinam as one word.

mine is how it looks: nj - mac

Exactly as it says on the tin. Or just 'dcv' for short. Or kinky boots ;)
