They probably assume that if you know what ProRes is, and why you might want it, then you probably already have Filmic Pro anyway. Staying silent on its absence in the camera app settings was a choice, not an oversight. Their keynotes are aimed at casual users.
Does Filmic Pro support ProRes shooting on 128 GB iPhones? I didn't see it mentioned on their website.

ProRes will fill an iPad's limited storage space quickly, too. 99 out of 100 iPad users don't care and would be better off with hvec format video.

Calculator 2.0. ProRes on iPad needs M3. Forced Upgrade. In the mean time the weather app gets converted to the Mac from the iPad.

People use the camera on the iPad? Looking at the forums last year people never do use it but now all of a sudden they do?

Edit. Nevermind.

When I used to work at Apple a customer asked me "What's the difference between an iMac and an iPad?" I'm not joking. I answered, "Do you have an iPhone?" They said "Yes" I replied, "An iPad is like a big iPhone". One of my co-workers told my supervisor this, and I actually got in trouble for saying that. And this was back when the first iPad was released! My point, the iPad is still a giant iPhone with a few extra features thrown in. I'm never surprised at what it can't do.

"My videos are so intense that I absolutely _must have_ the best codecs, like ProRes! My videos are just so demanding and of impeccably high quality!!"

"Oh yeah? What kind of camera do you use?"

"The one in my iPad."

"Lololololololololololololololololololololololololololol!!"

I guess Apple didn’t think anybody with an iPad Pro would really use it.

Not that Apple is right in any way, but how many people are using iPad Pro like a video recorder? Or even thinking of using ProRes?
Well, it’s true, but also why half-as* it?

So Apple should just be free to promote any kind of feature, spec, or video recording format for a new product but doesn't really need to implement it well or at all if only a fraction of buyers actually "need" it?

Presentations are aimed at casual users only, for a "Pro" product? And yet they spent a good 25 seconds highlighting how fast the new processors are which helps with decoding ProRes. And how, for the first time, iPad Pro can now record ProRes and is a "complete movie studio, right in your hands".

The apologising on MR is real.

What else is going on?
- Gimping base-model iPhones 14 to upsell on the Pros
- iPad 10th gen debacle, with USB 2.0 transfer speeds, 1st-gen Pencil w/ $10 USB-C-to-Lightning dongle (which is currently out of stock/on backorder), and non-laminated display all at a $120 premium over the 9th-gen iPad
- The iPad lineup in general being a sprawling, confusing mess with too many options which further encourage upselling
- macOS being dumbed down with removal of PostScript file support and a redesigned, iPadOS-like Settings app
- Stage Manager getting released with plenty of bugs and questionable utility

I’m sure there’s more… :)
