Wonder if this will spread to the Pro lineup. Wouldn’t mind a dark blue or green MacBook Pro…

I would imagine the opposite, bold ipads and pale laptops. I just think bold colors surrounding the keys of a laptop will get tiresome very very fast. We shall see.
I think gold is pretty bold, which the MBA and MacBook have had for years.

White keys and bezels might take some getting used to initially, but hey, iMacs, iBooks and MacBooks were all white for a LONG time and then Apple switched to HP-like black and grey.

I remember some people raged against that too at first.

That's the thing. I would like to see a real black MacBook. Not another shade of gray. Black. Matte Black. They have a lot of colors. But no black which is the go-to color for most people on computers.
Me too. But I would also love all white like the originals. An all white iMac would have been killer too.

I'd love to agonize over which one I'd pick ( as I love the new colors too).

Apple has really lost the plot with their design choices lately. The 24” iMac was a real wake-up call that Johnny no longer works at Apple. It’s the first legitimately ugly product I can recall Apple making in ages.
So, you’re telling all of us that you expect zero people buying the colorful iMacs?

Apple Stores will be filled with unsold colorful iMacs, and Apple will regret making flat colorful iMacs?

I’m not buying one, but that’s because I’m waiting for the 27” (or 32”) iMacs, not because I think the colorful flat iMac is ugly.

More like this I reckon:

I already like that better. Even the standard silver looks better than I thought it would (although these colors seem louder on the user side).

I would have TROUBLE picking just one, as I did with the iPod Nanos of old or the current iMacs.

Now, if they brought out a truly white one, I would not be able to resist.

I understand people's personal objections to Apple's colors when making a purchasing decision for themselves, but I really don't get the raging against the machine for Apple producing something that someone else might like.

The iMac and iPads both come in same-as-always silver, but people are crying over the pink and purple as it were.

Something literally NO ONE is forcing them to choose to buy.

I'm sure the new MBAs will still come in "conservative" silver too.

P.D. I find it amusing how all this color controversy this mimics the current state of the cultural civil war going on in 'murica at the moment.

Some folks are just not interested in letting others be happy.

Makes sense for the Air. It has more of a "lighthearted" vibe than the MBP. I'd also guess a higher percentage of these go to younger buyers (students) than is the case for the MBP. Let the kids have their fun! Just stay off my damn lawn.

I think it would be a good marketing move that could help generate more excitement for the product. Certainly a store display of brightly-colored Airs will catch the eye. Plus a they offer the iPhone in a range of colors, so this would allow iPhone owners who are used that color variety a similar range of options when it comes to the Air.

And it's consistent with this bit of marketing, which they introduced last year with the iPhone 11:

Also don't take offense to this but you should educate yourself about anodizing metals. There's a reason why you don't see Apple with a hard anodized black MacBook. That color is very difficult to produce when anodizing metals.
Surefire and other manufacturers of flashlights and weapon accessories have used black anodized aluminium for years, or decades even. Razer Blade laptops are black anodized aluminium, too.

Then I am glad I've picked up an M1 Air. But I hope it will be new Macbooks, and the Air will keep the professional design while going under a kilogram. The Air should be the ultraportable premium, especially with pros going up to 14", not an entry level toy.

In other news water is wet , its pretty obvious how apple are going now with the colour stuff , what a pundit ….🤡

It looks like Apple is really going back to differentiating the Pro Models VS Consumer. The high end iMacs will most likely be Space Gray and Silver with Black bezels and the Pro name. The Pro name originally applied to Mac's anyways, so it couldn't be any more appropriate.

I don't think there is any doubt they will do this. The MBP and larger iMacs will retain the usually Silver/Space Grey.

According to Apple leaker Jon Prosser, Apple's upcoming release of the MacBook Air will feature various colors, similar to the colors in the newly released 24-inch iMac.

In the latest video of his YouTube channel Front Page Tech, Prosser says the same source who accurately provided him information on the first Apple silicon iMac coming in colors has told him that he recently saw a prototype of a blue MacBook. However, Prosser says his source has been "very cryptic" and that he assumes it's the upcoming MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip.

If the information is true, the new colorful lineup of MacBooks would be a throwback to the older iBook G3. Apple first started to offer vibrant color options for its iPad with the iPad Air, released in October, and the iMac followed suit last month.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that a future model of the low-end portable Mac will feature a mini-LED display; however, that shouldn't be in the near future.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has said that Apple is working on a thinner and lighter MacBook Air that could launch in the second half of 2021, however, Bloomberg has not reported that the new models will come in different colors.
