You keep saying "Richest company in history" as if that automatically gives them the right to own the only time machine ever known to man or something. What does being rich have to do with it? Exxon was rich, they didn't do anything special for their fellow man.

It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor - mapping the world takes time and that doesn't magically appear out of no where. I'm not saying Apple's not in the wrong for releasing something half completed, but they've owned up to it and now they're working on fixing it. Again, no time machines exist so it won't be done today or tomorrow. No amount of additional whining between now and the next update will make the process go faster. The best thing you can do is help if you can or encourage others to help so that our maps will update ASAP. Everything else is basically a waste of breath.

Dude, you misunderstand me. I *know* mapping takes time. But as I have said countless times in the last week, the other *bugs* in iOS6 should never have happened, considering how big and powerful apple has become with all it's resources. This is what I'm referring to. The thing that annoys me the most is battery and mail issues.

It also gets annoying when people say things like if you don't like it, go android. Re-read my original reply on this, as I don't want to have to repeat it.

I will say again though, that the original poster in this thread has a valid point. And although I never imagine it as a million man march in the streets, apple needs to know that we are not exactly satisfied with what they have ditched out at us. So in the spirit in what he was saying, I certainly agree.

As for a time machine, it's a simple matter of apple allowing a rollback to iOS5. They can then spend all the time they need to refine iOS6. No problem. I'd rather wait for a polished product. Not a polished turd.

Not that hard is it?

The problem is, I upgraded too quick thinking iOS6 was going to be great. I wont be making that mistake again knowing there's no rollback option.

Like I said in an earlier post, I don't want this to be a war. It's just a discussion.

Hey guys. As most of you know, we have been forced to move to Apple's maps and abandon Google's one.
The question is: what WE are going to do with this issue? After the maps have been released there were a lot of critics around the internet. They were strong enough that Tim Cook posted an open letter to heir customers. The point is that together we can do much more than alone. A brilliant example were massive protests against ACTA or even Coca Cola after they changed drink's recipe. After those strikes Coca Cola decided to go back to their origin. See how much we mean together?
I know some of you can call me insane, but after all we're paying a lot of our money for all of Apple's products therefore we should be able to decide what services we want to use at least.

What do you think? Any ideas?

1- No-one forced you to update.
2- If you hate your phone now, sell it, buy an android or whatever and be happy.
3- Or, stop whining as if the world fell apart and start using the report a problem feature which is built in the new maps.

Apple has taken a big hit with the map-mess, so stay assured they are paying for this, and probably someone has lost this job. I hope this knowledge will let you sleep better.
Alternatively, you can show up to the Apple campus with an M.16 and start firing at those people who have ruined your life.

It is my understanding that Apple used TomTom's maps. Not the other way around. This entire mess should be on them.

No, it's Apple's responsibility to check that their suppliers are on par.
If the screen on my phone brakes i dont blame samsung or lg, but Apple quality control.

they explained why they did / why it had to be done.

google maps was holding them back and they didn't want an iOS map app to be worse than Android maps.

YOU should have walked into an apple store, find an iPhone 5 on display and tried maps before purchasing if it was so important for you.

AND if you are still within the return period, return it and buy another product.

They are selling the iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and Apple maps. If you don't like it, don't buy it. They've gotten the feedback, they said they will improve it now stop acting like a spoiled 5 year old and enjoy the phone or get something else.

Get another phone or ****. Some of you people must use Maps WAY more than I ever have to continue this whining without end. Tim Cook even told you today some competitors' apps to use while Apple improves Maps. A lot of us have found only minor glitches and have better things to do than a stupid protest.

Please, to all the complainers, go buy a Galaxy S III. When you find 100 more things to complain about on that phone, stay on Android boards.

I think the point is that they had something that worked and replaced it something inferior and error prone.

They use Tomtom's data only, it's Apple app that controls the way the data is used i.e. it's Apple fault.

True. True. I just haven't heard anyone try to shift any of this to TomTom. As soon as I heard that was who Apple partnered with for their foundational map data I cringed. Garmin would have been a much better choice, IMHO. I guess looking back our vision is always 20/20, eh?! BTW, can you fathom how large of a job it would be to verify map data for the entire planet? LOL. We just found out how bad TomTom's data really is. But, Apple should have verified none the less. They've got the pockets to make it happen. It should have...

Apple is not perfect and Google's first attempt at maps was not perfect either. Apple wanted to bring turn by turn directions to it's customers and this was the only way Apple could do it. Apple's Maps App will get better over time. Tim Cook has apologized, they have other maps right on the front page of the app store, and they even tell you how to put Google Maps back on your phone. What more do you want? No other company would do this!

Again, the point is they had something that worked much better before they replaced it so there really is no excuse for this.

They also had a whole year left on their contract with Google so they could have been working on refining their app before releasing it.

A voice of sanity in the wilderness...

I got my torch and pitchfork ready. When and where is this thing going to go down?
