People, you need to look at current technology and stop assuming a doubling of memory will just come out of vapor somewhere.

The ONLY possibility I can come up with is Samsung's new 20nm process sizes down the chips enough so that they can fit 2 chips in....but that's really streching. It probably won't cut the size in half.

Toshiba announces 64 GB NAND packages

Look, I double the memory right out of vapor!

when will there be an new iWork? Will it be 64bit and be faster? Will it use grand central for better performance? Will it allow me to default my saved documents to office formats? Can those office formats be the 2007/2010 formats? How compatible are they?

yup, exactly... i could not care less about any one of these questions.

c'mon man... it's summer time. it's IPHONE time. of COURSE all we get are iphone rumors!

i'm guessing the VAST majority of HUMANITY finds iphone info much more interesting than iwork info.... no matter what time of year it is.

i can understand why these questions are important to you... but man, that is one boring list of questions. seriously.

will iwork use grand central for better performance?

HTC has it. Amirite?

i'm just tired of all those goofy android phone names... it seems like they are constantly cranking out new versions of the same thing, and naming it something annoying.

say what you will about the iphone, at least we can just call it "iphone" not ... amaze, or wind, or pinkie, or era, or whatever else stupid "marketing says this name tests well with soccer moms" nonsense they come up with for the next htc whatever.

criminey those android names are annoying.

One more thing...

I think all of these leaks will force Steve to make the "One more thing" even better-er! I'm hoping for some surprise OS 4.0 new features (hint: new notification organization/system).

Yeah I hate that too. I recall the same thing with the Samsung phones.

The ironic twist is that as these companies release more and more "iPhone killers" they seem to get further away from their target, because their reputation takes a hit. Apple got the iPhone right the first time and everytime they shrug off a competitor it makes them look even better. If Samsung or HTC ever does release a good iPhone killer, it'll be forever credited with the motto "about ****ing time."

Unlikely. :(

I think we're mostly going to see a few iPhone 4 specific features, everything else was already shown off at the OS 4.0 presentation.

do they usually show off new os features at WWDC? What are the chances we will see a change (maybe widgets) to the lock screen? and if they do show new stuff like this at WWDC why wouldnt they just show it at the OS 4.0 announcement?

This year is kind of up in the air. They don't usually have a special event just for iPhone OS (like they did earlier this year).

i'm curious about the screen. and i really can't believe that these leaked phones would be production units.

A little flexing, so the phone doesn't explode when dropped.

+1
Little glass pieces everywhere if it didn't have these relief/shock damper slits in it.

I hate the look of them, but I'm gonna love the function when my wife drops it the first time!

It looks similar to a smaller version of an iPad but a little different. I do agree the iPhone needs a 64GB option since the iPod touch has that option. It would be nice if the iPhone would have a faster processor but I just don't see how a higher resolution screen would really add anything to a iPhone because of its small screen size. Especially since you wouldn't be able to output HD content to an external monitor (the iPad can't so I assume the new iPhone would not be able to). I would think that there would be really no differences between SD and HD content at this size of screen. Still I like what I am seeing here.
Size inside of the iPhone might be a problem here. I think I remember the Gizmodo people saying that it was very tight. However, the rumor is that it had 80 GB but was unconfirmed, before APPLE remote wiped it.

That is actually not true at all. At all.

Care to elaborate?

Certainly.
http://www.toshiba.co.jp/about/press/2009_12/pr1501.htm?from=RSS_PRESS&uid=20091215-818e

The new 64GB embedded device combines sixteen 32Gbit (equal to 4GB) NAND chips fabricated with Toshiba's cutting-edge 32nm process technology, and also integrates a dedicated controller.

If you were the expert you suggest you are you would know that there is always more than one way to do something when it comes to electronic technology.

That's absolutely not true. Yes, I was unaware of the 64GB Toshiba chip...so perhaps there will be a 64GB model. But there's not always more than one way. And sometimes, there's no way....until technology advances.

But I stopped arguing about the 64GB model long ago in this thread after the Toshiba chip was pointed out to me. But you are so smart aren't you. I'm better off now that you have brought this to my attention....again.

You asked me to elaborate... What was I supposed to do? No need to get so offensive and rude.

seem like nobody watch the posted video... if you look at it all the way till the end where the sim card slot is taken out.

It seem like the sim card slot fix only the new Micro Sim just like the iPad.

Now, what happens if Apple upgrades the screen? Will developers have to retool their interfaces? Will they have to include two versions of each application or will it be a universal app with two interfaces? Or might we end up with a third app store?

Is this the dreaded "fragmentation" issue that the Android haters complain about? :D

They will just double the pixels until the devs adjust.

micro SIM cards = death of unlocking to use on T-mobile?

regular SIM cards can be shaved down accordingly to fit into the new iPhone but who's going to do that?
