I've heard that the 11-inch iPad Pro with the mini LED display may not arrive until early fall. As for a new AirPods Pro 2, I'm interested, but who knows when they will arrive.... 🤷‍♂️
No way there will be an 11 pro released 6 months after a 12.9 pro. If they don’t release an 11 pro alongside the 12.9, it is discontinued in its current form or name. Maybe they would try to make an in between model - but there is no room between the air and pro already.

where on earth have you been hearing that?

I hope Kang is wrong about the gen 2 AirPods getting discontinued. It would be nice to have them available in the $100ish range. With the lightning charging case of course.
feels very unlikely. there's no price point that makes sense. if they're too cheap, there's probably not a great incentive to go for the new model, and if they're too close in price, then what's the point? I think they'll go.

My guess is the reason the 12.9” will outsell the 11” pro is that the 11” Pro will be discontinued. The ”Pro” will designate 12.9”, the Air 11” and just iPad is the cheap model.

The Air and the 11” Pro are way too close in specs right now, and the Air will need an update later this year, probably getting 120hz and 5G and essentially becoming the “Pro” but at a lower price point.
Yep, something like that. The leaked case from Target indicates there is no more 11" Pro. Just an 11" iPad that has the same design.

They need to add a second camera to the iPad Pro. It's 2021. Face ID will work better and video calls wont look obnoxiously stupid anymore when using the device in landscape.

I wish they would come out with a version of the iPad that had a textured like screen making it feel more like paper when writing on it. I know you can get screen protectors that will do that but I hate screen protectors. I would love something like the ReMarkable writing tablet but with iOS on it.

One thing that several people on YouTube speculated is that the 11" iPad Pro may go to a modified form factor, possibly with nearly no bezels thanks to the new reduced-size Face ID sensors.

If they can reduce the overall footprint, I could potentially go for the 12.9, but aside from a stand on my desk - I primarily use my iPad in my lap. I think the 12.9 will still be too big for that.
The larger the iPad the less comfortable traveling with it IMHO. I held both. I think they need to be looking a iPad Pro mini with 8.5” screen more then 12.9” being a big seller, although the 12.9” with better screen lighting would be that more expensive if that really is what they are targeting.

Jobs was right about having just one/two products; the whole iPad line-up is messy and ridiculously confusing; why can't there be just 3 products? Mini, Normal, Pro? It's getting ridiculous. The same for iPhones. Why the hell must there be a XR 11 12 Mini, SE?, Pro and Pro Max?

It’s unfortunate that Apple is not extending mini-LED to the 11”... As an owner of the 2018 model, the 2020 model didn’t do much to convince me to upgrade and it sounds like this year will be the same. Not to mention, the new iPad Air puts the 11” in an even more awkward position.

Maybe Apple will have some suprise for us.

Fair enough, iPad 2018 was quite a big upgrade and it still runs everything very well, so no real need to upgrade so frequently.

Maybe, going forward, “Pro” means something like “advanced screen and better cameras?” (maybe better cpu, too) and the Airs stick to LED?

From this article, not all iPad Pro models going be equal in features. Some models will be better then other Pro models now. Maybe Apple should call them - Super iPad Pros for the ones with better technology iPads?

I like the AirPods Pro, but I can't get a good fit in my left ear -- it was never a problem with the pre-Pro pods. If the new ones don't have the rubber tip that pushes into the ear canal, I'll give up ANC and pick up a pair. ANC was important when I was commuting, but now that I'm working from home indefinitely, I don't need it.

I think I'm ready to ditch the MacBook Air and 11-inch iPad Pro (1st gen) and only go with the larger iPad Pro.

I'm the exact opposite. Got an M1 Air, love it. Selling 12.9" iPad. Thinking either no iPad, or a smaller one.

All of this sounds great. But personally first I want iOS 14.5 because all my devices that are new have been quite gimped by iOS 14 in general. They feel like they're 5 year old devices with all the bugs, lag and stuttering.

And a new Apple TV is about 2 years overdue. The remote is terrible and the guts are using 3 year old tech.
Exactly what new devices are you talking about here? I’m pretty sure you’re overreacting.

I’m not saying it’s perfect. Far from it. But the only devices iOS 14 is making run like 5 year old devices.. are 5 year old devices.

Price segmentation, so as to sell iPhones to as many different tiers of customers as possible.

The failure of the iPhone 5c showed that Apple customers want the best, and are willing to pay for the best. And if they can't have it, then at least have something which was once the best. As such, it makes sense to discount an older generation iPhone rather than create a separate budget device just for it.

I have an iPhone 12, iPad Pro 2020, 2X Apple TV 4 and Apple Watch series 5. All have laggy and stuttering scrolling on the latest software. This isn’t a coincidence.

I also have a brand new 27 inch iMac that cost $5,000 at work. It’s on the latest version on Big Sur and has the same intermittent terrible lagging and stuttering
when scrolling around.

Whatever apple added to all their latest software really gimped it.. NOT A COINCIDENCE.

Others who notice this report it’s fixed in the latest betas which is good. Which proves they really f—— something up they had to fix.

Anything over 12" is too big for me to use as a tablet.
You know, I’m typing this on a Gen 1 12.9” IPP. And, I’m forced to agree with you. DW has the 11” IPP and it‘s just about perfect for tablet usage. For a laptop replacement, my 12.9” IPP is almost there (still fight with iPadOS from time to time)...but I’d really like to downsize it for my usage (primarily media and information consumption). My ideal fleet would consist of:

- iPhone 13 mini (when they’re released) - w/camera & battery life of 12 Pro Max
- IPP 11 w/14X (when they’re released)
- “BIG Air” - MacBook Air with 15” screen (IF they’re every released) - 16GB RAM & 1TB SSD
