Fingerprints are 99% eliminated with the anti-glare film!

born4sky, are you drawing this from a direct comparison to the naked iPhone or to the Crystal Film? I've noticed on the site that both the Crystal Film and Anti-Glare Film state that they reduce smudges and fingerprints and I was wondering if it's to the same degree or not. I like what I'm hearing about the anti-glare, but I'm not too keen on the reduction in clarity that some are reporting. Can anybody tell me how good the Crystal Film is at reducing smudges compared to the naked iPhone and the Anti-Glare Film? Thanks in advance.

the crystal film is pretty much like a naked screen in that it gets the same amount of fingerprints... except i feel better about rubbing the film on my pant leg than the screen itself. :p

Darnit... So does this mean that PS is guilty of false advertisement?... hmm...
Oh well, I think I might go the Crystal Film route and not worry about rubbing it clean. Thx.

i can tell you whats on the face of both packages.

crystal film: clear static cling film for protection from scratches, dust, and dirt.

anti-glare: static cling film protection from scratches, dust, and dirt. resists smudges and fingerprints.

Yup,

I emailed them before choosing and they sent me a reply and specifically mentioned the crystal film does nothing for smudging.

Well my apologies for the confusion. None of the stores in my section of Canada carry the PS films, so I was relying on their website for the information. If you look at the PS Crystal Film page, it states that it resists smudges and fingerprints, but I guess it's just a copy/paste from the anti-glare page.

Edit: Now that I've tested the link, something even more glaring came up. The title tag for the Crystal Film page still says "Anti-Glare Film Set".

I was a three time PS Crystal user before switching and I will never go back. Everyone complaining about clarity has lost me. The tactile feedback of the screen is terrific! With the other it always had a stickiness beside the damn fingerprints!

ntrigue,

Edit: sorry, I misread your post. Thanks for the information! If the clarity is as you say it is, I think I'll spring for the Anti-Glare Film. Thanks again!

Different strokes for different folks I guess...I just put the Crystal on and love it.

I just got one today. I love it. I'm one to like a matte screen anyway. NO smudging and it feels nice. I don't see any loss of clarity. If there is, it's very subtle. The screen now looks like the matte screen of my MBP.

I went to buy the anti-glare at Apple today, but they were sold out. So I go over to Best Buy to buy DLO's Surface Shields (Anti-Glare) and try it out.

Well, nothing really seems blurry with DLO's anti-glare, but everything seems "sparkly" or "glittery" (only things that have lighter colors, like the Notes app or white/grey backgrounds).

Does Power Support's Anti-Glare make things shimmer?

Is there supposed to be a gap around the edge of these films?

My initial shipment was incorrect and they sent me another batch that is the same size!

I had read posts that they had fixed this problem, but that does not appear to be the case (unless their films are built to have a few mm uncovered).

Has anyone tried PS Anti-glare and BSE back? I was thinking of doing that just because its half the cost of an IS back.

had the choice between crystal and anti-glare.....anti-glare is mainly useful if you are OUTSIDE a lot. Also fingerprints are easily wiped off....I went with the crystal for the clarity.

YES there is a gap but the gap is TINY. If the film is perfectly centered, the gap all around is no more than 1mm.

So does anyone have a screen that doesn't have a gap around it at all? I thought it was changed after they noticed the "defect."

I bought mine last week at an apple store. I have no gaps. It literally goes all the way to the edge. Ok, maybe a hair of a gap.

DLO-no gap
Power Support- gap

DLO- 5 skins 14.98
Power Support- 2 skins 14.98

The choice is obvious.

:)

Not having gap at all is a liability because unless you get the film on ABSOLUTELY PERFECT (now what is the chance of that??) the film would overhang the screen on some edges and dirts would start to get trapped underneath the film between the bezel and the screen and things start to get unsigntly.

Actually the lack of gap on the DLO makes them really easy to apply. I got my first one on, on the first attempt. They are cut very precisely and all I did was line up the ear speaker and the rest flowed on perfectly. There is little to no room to position it incorrrectly, the phone basically acts as a guide. Compare that to PS and I had to reposition it many times because it has a lot more gap.

I don't believe it. You can line up the ear speaker. But I don't believe you can flow the rest of the film on perfectly as it will either tilt toward one side or the other.

I spent 20 minutes apply and re-apply my PS film, and after my best attempt the gap along the top is still perhaps 1/5mm larger than the bottom gap. So if the film is exactly the same size of the screen there would have been a 1/5mm overhang on the bottom.

If you really did apply the film perfectly, perhaps you can show us the technique. But just "lay the film down and it flows on perfectly".. sorry I do not believe that.

I didn't find the clarity to be altered that much. It does add a bit of a shimmer but not that bad.

The smudge and grease proof properties of it make it a must have for me.

I agree with this statement too. I'm willing to sacrifice that small loss of clarity for a clean smudge free screen.
