The engraving timeline helps for sure. Wife bought these as a surprise, initial order showed march, she cancelled and opted for the engraving after seeing this thread and now it shows Dec 30th-Jan 15th.

Engraving = no refunds, so no big surprise.

These will be the ultimate sign of 'sucker'. 99% of the sheep buying these are doing it as conspicuous consumption.

They had better be mind-altering for that price, as they are clearly not intended to compete with Sony or Bose offerings.

They need to be twice as mind-blowing as the M1 performance is to justify their premium over the competition, and in real-world situations, it's hard to imagine them being so much objectively or subjectively better than the Sony XM4's to warrant the 2x price tag.

Thanks to MR for posting this PSA. I got in late yesterday and got the March delivery time. I switched to engraving and I am now getting them Late December. THANK YOU.

btw, I apologize if this is covered elsewhere, but it seems the delayed shipping increased in daily increments (more or less) from Dec 15 to late December / early January, and then took a big leap to March. Anyone have a theory on this? Will the manufacturing site be closed for renovation, holidays? Just curious.

Support don’t always get it right I was told I could get a replacement AirPods Pro case because I had AppleCare that was stollen for nothing just go to the Apple Store it will be free I screen shot the chat but got there and wanted to charge $155 told me support got it wrong.
"Support don't always get it right...". Where are you from, hoss?

Oof. I'm so glad that I don't consider myself an audiofile, though if I did, I'm pretty certain there are other brands I'd blow that much on for a quicker shipment. I used to judge all the people on the train who wore beats. I'd do the same with these except public transportation along with adiofiles seem to be becoming part of a bygone era
I'd be inclined to suspect the same, but I'm curious to hear what respected audio engineers say, at some point. Seems Apple always adds "their thing" to everything, whether photos or sound. And that has its place, but hmm … "flat" reference audio isn't what most consumers really want, no matter how much disposable income.

Since engraved items can be returned, I think every person mad at Apple for the ridiculous things they have been doing should order the most expensive Apple product that allows engraving, have “F U Apple” engraved, and then return the product back to Apple for a full refund. That would be a message to Apple from their faithful customers.

First if all, the AriPods Max are way to cheap. I think the price should be at least $999.99.
Well, you can buy professional studio headphones for much less money, but who would care about analog sound anymore, it's just too good, too natural, no compression. These days, wireless is more important than sound quality. Computational audio... these marketing people are very creative. Anyway, if you stick with the proper analog sound, you will soon have to stick the jack somewhere in your body, as soon there will be no holes left on any Apple products. It's their game all along... No wireless sound will ever be the same yet better than analog. But they will make you believe anything. For such price, it must be good, right?? 💩 :apple: 💩

I always think now with so many people getting evicted from their homes during this pandemic that $550 could be better utilized with donations this Christmas to the Salvation Army kettle. I ring the bell every year to help my fellow man/woman during tough times.
I always think it’s better to the individual to decide what to and not to do with their own money. Rather than some random stranger on the internet telling them what to do. But you do you.
Also you have no idea what I’ve donated.

I have no idea who will be buying these outside of NBA and NFL players.
People buy wired HiFi headcans costing well over $1-2k. If these are expected to be one of the best available for wireless headphone, then $550 is not much. Plus Apple makes more main stream wireless headphones under its Beats brand. There are different price points for all budgets.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless is listed for $399.95 and Beyerdynamic Amiron wireless is listed for $599. So price wise, it is competing against premium wireless headphones. For less premium brand, Sony WH-1000XM4 is a bragain.

Yes, purchasing this is a gamble for now as there hasn't been any reviews from HiFi sites for its sound/soundstage/imaging. People are counting on Apple's reputation for now. I expect its audio to fall behind likes of Beyerdynamic but with more tech features. Only time will tell.

In New Zealand these are listed at NZ$999. That is NZ$200 over the exchange rate for US$549 at NZ$799
This seems like gross exploitation to me.
15% GST is $120 of that (NZ prices have to include sales tax). Then the additional $80 covers the consumer guarantees act, meaning you're covered for no questions asked repairs for the reasonably expected life of the product. Certainly five years likely longer. Pretty good value I'd say, and much better and cheaper than Applecare.

Chinese New Year will be on 12 Feb 2021. Basically, due to the need for the workers to return to their hometown to celebrate the new year, the factories will not be fully operational for at least half a month there.
