Am just planning on canceling Apple Music subscription (again) and ditching Arcade & Apple TV+ free trials before they end up. Tried them all and honestly, none convinced me to continue using them.

I see value in Apple Music, but the fact it erased all my playlists and favourites because I temporarily canceled subscription (I just didn't feel the need for it for a while) made me resentful about the whole thing. Thought it was a bug of some sorts at first. The fact you can't just return to your music when you want (but have to pay continuously to keep your playlists) is a joke.

iCloud is another story. Happy with that service.

I love how Apple is dropping the Apple TV price by like $70 but guess what, its still too much and its way to late. I upgraded, yes UPGRADED because the Firestick is 20x better than the Apple TV in every way and I got 4 now and still saved compared to the Apple TV.

And now they are raising prices on this? Sure, no problem. Knock yourself out Apple. Just continue losing your customers 1 by 1. Apple TV is stupid outside of Ted Lasso so there goes Apple TV subscription.

Our wages.😩

Gawd I miss the old days when I made half as much, but had 2x the disposable income.😐 I miss $0.80 a gallon gas, $500 rent on a 2 bedroom apartment...

To get back to 80 cents a gallon you’d also need to trade in your Apple products and listen to Muskrat Love on your Sony Walkman. But you’d look awesome in your yarn swimwear. 🫣

To me, the insult comes less from the modest price increases, than from the fact that the economy is slowly imploding and they have the nerve to increase prices on an already barely-enough product. Just seems like a weird move.
They're increasing their prices, because like every other company out there, things cost more to provide. It's basic economics.

You're going to see everyone increasing prices of their products and services. This isn't just an Apple thing.

Because not enough people cancel so they end up actually ahead due to the higher cost to those remaining
Pretty much this. I'm fairly sure the bean counters and management in general know that price hikes will cause some people to quit. They estimate that the $$ lost from people quitting won't be worse than the extra $$ they get from those that stay, at the now higher prices. AFAIK, the end goal is to keep raising the price (b/c let's face it, Netflix couldn't stay at $8 a month forever). They can't just do that "willy nilly", so they'll acquire new content to justify that, like new seasons, new TV series/films, and all of that sports jazz. Whether or not people agree with that is another thing entirely (as several of these types of threads had plenty that already cancelled their subs).

I'm really surprised that News+ didn't go up, too. Must be the revenue from all of those ads.
Well, I believe News+ is amongst the least popular of the A1 services. Next would be Apple Arcade. These 2 are being offered at Costco stores and Costco.com for $90 per year and $45 per year respectively. It's interesting to note that 2 days after ATV+ annual rate went up from $50 to $70, the annual sub through Costco also went from $45 to $63 (some folks who were quick purchase 1 to 3 codes during those 2 days, and redeemed up to 3 years worth of ATV+ for a 3-year total of $135!

People kept asking if they Costco could also do discounted annual subs for A1, or at least iCloud+ and Music, but, nope! It seems like those 3 are too popular to need to incentivize via better deal, and also appear to be Apple's cash cow.

A more than 10% increase in one price bump for the company with record profits. Great look.

Write Tim Cook a letter and give him a piece of your mind.

You might not realize that Apple is not immune from price increases. Providing the service, giving their 150,000+ employees raises, increases in the cost of employee benefits, etc.

I prefer music and TV with commercials.
I get Accuradio for free. There is no paid option.
I pay almost $200/month for TV and Internet. That's enough.
I get commercial free movies on TCM (Turner Classic Movies).
I'm not willing to pay for Arcade just so I can play The Oregon Trail.
Greedy rich people infuriate me.

Apple One family plan is up 19% in Canada. The inflation is up 7.7%… maybe a 10% increase would have been reasonable. I’ll keep Music and storage but not TV+ and Arcade.

Annual plan? I'm not seeing any such options for Apple One or Apple Music.

It's in the story:

Apple Music

  • Individual plan - $10.99/month, a $1 increase
  • Family plan - $16.99/month, a $2 increase
  • Annual plan for individuals - $109/year, a $10 increase

I'm in two minds what to do about this.

I only use Apple Music and have the family plan.

When I got the email this weekend my immediate thought was 'it's cancelled'.

Then I looked at Spotify and its £14.99 for Premium Family so I don't know what to do.

I appreciate stuff is going up but it feels a bit like Apple are demanding I bend over and grab my ankles with the £3 a month increase in the UK.

Is Napster still a thing (Jokes!)

I get my Apple Music and Arcade through Verizon. Hopefully they don’t start making us pay for it. I only pay for AppleCare+ and iCloud+.
