I was getting the expired message this morning, but tried to access again within the last 5 minutes and it again is saying I am ready. Looks like a temporary glitch, but one that had me worried for a bit.

I'm from the UK, and I got this error that the order had expired.

There was an option to "buy" the phone again, however I already did a pre-approved credit agreement with Barclay Finance which I had signed, so. I thought it was proper to speak to Apple and get them to confirm if there was actually an issue or not.

I spoke to several people, including a manager who chimed the same thing and wouldn't resolve my issue, was on the phone an hour and half. (so I will paraphrase the conversion).

Basically they confirmed there was a glitch and that there was no way their end to resolve it, the pre-approval loan is against the original order so the only way to reactivate it or purchase the phone now is to go through the whole process and do the finance agreement again. (I asked them if it would be resolved in due course and they said no, it was non-reversible)

So unable to repair my order or amend it, I said can you cancel the pre-approval loan so that the finance company doesn't think I'm taking finance out twice, they told me that this wasn't the case and that I should just make the credit application tomorrow after launch (not before... unsure why they said this), and that the other loan would just fall off when it wasn't activated, but either way they where unable to cancel the agreement as there was nothing to cancel...

Spoke to Barclay Finance who seemed a bit shocked at Apple was unwilling to resolve this issue, and confirmed there was a search done on my account and if I was to re-order they would have seen it as a separate loan, with two searches on my credit file. They said as the retail it was their responsibility to rectify the issue instead of basically telling me it wasn't their problem. Apple should have notified them to cancel the loan prior to taking out a second one.

Barclay Finance removed the search from my file and cancelled the loan, and to point out here as far as they where concerned even though Apple said the order wasn't no longer valid the loan was still active and there was no confirmation of them cancelling it down even after I made the complaint, so this would confirm that it would have been a second loan agreement for the same phone.

Apple customer service was very poor and really didn't help me, in fact I think they broke some rules under FCA here in the uk because they are responsible for the loan agreement as they are the retailer, but my biggest worry and why I've hopped onto this site is make sure if you have taken out finance that your not applying for a second loan!

I had pre-ordered a iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB, Apple will loose me as a customer over this, I was upgrading from my Xs Max, but as it just had a new screen and battery at Apple its like new... so It can serve me for more years now as Apple can't be trusted.

Let me be very clear, if the pre-approval thing was a cash purchase I would have seen it as a annoyance and bit crap, but when its a financial agreement, affecting peoples credit scores, this is bang out of order and Apple should have done more to rectify the issue.

I hope this helps others, I don't how it works in other countries, but that's my story from the UK side of things.

Shouldn't have been so impatient and just waited, as it was just a glitch and has been fixed.

I chatted with Apple Support and they were aware of the issue and said they were working on it.

Still unable to even verify my carrier (T-Mobile) so looks like I may not be doing a pre-order at all.

I wasn't being impatient, I had a issue (didn't know it was wise spread until after the fact), thinking it was a single user issue or something wrong with my finance I did what any normal person would have done, asked what the issue was.

Only when they advised me that I would have to re-purchase as my order was lost, that the issues arose. If they had said "its a known issue, should be sorted in few hours" or whatever then I had escalated it then I would have been impatient.

You have to remember not everyone is on forums talking about these things, I was totally unaware this was an ongoing issue until I googled it after I had done everything I can to resolve it.

I spoke with a manager to try and resolve this and they didn't mention it was an issue that would be fixed or could be fix, I was told my order was lost and there was nothing more I could do.

What steps would you take after that?

I thought others might want to know that if you re-apply like I was told to do it will cause a second search on your credit file.

when using my Apple Card, I initially got a pop-up saying it was declined, then a few seconds later, I received another pop-up notification stating I had enrolled in the 24 month plan etc. I chatted with an agent, who said it looked just fine…so I’m 50/50 on if it goes through properly. I have available credit, nothing odd pending etc.

I can't use this pre-pre-order because I am going with monthly payments from my carrier so I just get the usual greyed out order button.
It’s not a big deal. The pre-order set up only saves you 1.2323 seconds. Big deal. It’s really done so Apple can already see the committed orders coming through and Apple fans to feel like they are saving so much time and they will be guaranteed a phone. Little do they know phones don’t sell out in the first 5 minutes anymore.

My preorder has expired too and can’t place another preorder. It states the selected model is Not available. Wow pre pre order sold out!
Not true. Nothing sold out. Just order at 5AM PST. Nothing is selling out fast. This is just a gimmick that benefits Apple and makes you feel you are saving so much time and you are #1 in line from millions of people. Lol.

Add this to the list of Apple's lack of quality control processes. You would think this one would have received more attention in Cupertino before going live as this is what Apple lives for....getting the faithful to eagerly place orders for expensive items that many don't even need.

I noticed the payment plan for Verizon shows as 30 months rather than the usual 24 months. I wonder if that will be the case via Verizon directly too.

What exactly is this? Genuinely confused, lol. Is it to prepare your pre-order prior to Friday? US only?

AT&T is not know for good customer service. Is it better to just purchase unlocked from Apple or deal with the carrier and save a few hundred dollars?

was thinking the same 😂 I just love the fact that you can now preorder your preorder. Can’t wait to pre order the pre order for my iPhone 14 preorder

Just click the box “Save my size, color and storage preferences for the next iPhone” 👍

I did the preorder but how do I verify it’s there?I went back into the app and don’t see it anywhere.
