PSA: Apple's March 27 Event Won't Be Live Streamed

The event is at a school, so there is probably no infrastructure in place to do a live stream that meets Apple’s bandwidth requirements.

Most of the press that Apple is going to invite is going the "live blog" this event too. So it isn't just Apple's needs. Apple + 20-70 'reporters' they invite also. if you cut off the bloggers from the Internet they will have a cow and moan and groan about that at least as much as covering the event.

That’s true, although most live bloggers would probably also have some mobile hotspot devices ready as well.

Meh, I wasn’t expecting much. Cheaper iPad with Pencil support, focus on iBooks, iOS 11.3 launch and AirPower launch info. That’s probably it.
Can't wait to know that emoji's for the mentally disabled were designed by Joni and fully supported by Eddie's cloud services (while Phil peeled off another 0.3" of bezel from some iPad)

Agreed. I think we’ll see an update to iBooks, and people here claiming it’s “yet more evidence that Tim Cook is ruining Apple”.

Lol. I think some criticism is valid in some cases. See the trash can Mac “Pro” and the most recent MacBook “Pro”. Apple classifies these as members of the “Pro” line when they really should’ve been a part of the “Air” line. I’m not a Pro user, just somebody who wants a desktop that I can install a GPU in that isn’t a joke, but if I were a Pro user I wouldn’t be happy with Apple under Cook’s direction.

That being said the money Apple has made under Tim Cook’s leadership speaks for itself. If bringing in that kind of cash is considered “ruining” a business then Tim Cook can come “ruin” my business any time! No CEO or team of executives who came after Steve Jobs were ever going to live up to his legacy.

In my view, outside of the disgraceful handling of the Pro line of products which Apple has finally acknowledged and promised to address, Cook has done an excellent job in the face of the pressure that comes with being the immediate successor to one of the all time greats. There have been missteps, sure, but you’d have to be a fool to consider Cook’s tenure a failure at this point in time.

Well, not because of this, but I do believe he’s the wrong man for the job. He’s too cautious with innovation. I genuinely believe he doesn’t see products the way Jobs did. Then again, I’m not sure anyone does.

While you definitely make good points, I feel like Apple was at a point with their brand already when Cook took over, that it couldn’t really go anywhere but “up” as long as they didn’t completely screw up. A massive percentage of Apple’s customers these days would buy anything Apple releases because of either brand loyalty or because it’s the “cool” thing to buy. It’s an iconic brand and that’s really difficult to ruin.

But if you look deeper than cash, you’ll see things like major oversights with software, declining technology innovation, “safe” moves, etc.. I get the feeling Tim is just too nice to be a truly successful leader. Jobs was a total ******* at times, and that kept people in line.

I don’t feel Cook is ruining Apple, but I do feel they’d be in a different place if he wasn’t CEO.

Its probably at best a cheaper product made out of old cheap parts. There will be no innovation or advancement.
Or its probably just a new tab in iBooks.

I'll check on MacRumors and see what new products are announced (as I usually do). As a student, I'd love an Pencil capable iPad Mini and I'll take an SE2 if those get the upgrade. I am curious what they do.

Wow, no live stream...why?
Nothing new, innovative stuff to announce?
Why no live stream?
Doesn't make any sense at all...
...only if they got nothing to show for and they don't want you to know about it.

Yep seems to just be an event focussing all in new classroom, student and teacher support on iPads. Nothing big for most people out there. Definitely no mass product launch

This sounds like something we don't even need to know about...

Any "event" from Apple that isn't streamed at this point...isn't really an event at all

Apple engineers have been working feverishly to complete Jony Ive's "perfect device design" ahead of this event, but unfortunately they still haven't quite figured out how to have a functional laptop with no ports and no I/O components - so the "Apple Slab" is still not ready to see the light of day.

Must be a dud they're trying to dump on the education market if they're hiding it.

Or it’s for education so there’s no reason to set up a huge broadcast.

Everyone complaining: This event isn’t for you. It is for school administrators and for the people who decide the purchases.

Right, because people who are genuinely disappointed must "hate" Apple. Only people who hate the company expect and desire new products from them.

If you’re expecting a whole slew of new things from an EDUCATION EVENT, that’s on you.

heh no live stream this is gonna be a waste of an event then... ahh guess ill be starting far cry 5 early then :)

Makes sense. With Trump's new tariffs, Apple couldn't get the Mandarin translator, and without her, they can't possibly do a live stream.

You are still going to be able to watch the entire event on your device after it's done and the footage has been posted online. Will waiting for an extra hour or two really kill you?

It's just as well that I live in Asia and the live streams always happen at like 1-2 am over here. So by the time I wake up, the upload is ready for viewing and all news feeds have been updated.

Also, they’re only waiting to be disappointed.

Man, I just really wished that the Apple TV Events app showed all major Apple WWDC presentations of the past as well. Eexecutives saying they love Steve yet hide away from every possible video he’s in from the public.
