Weird. The product page for the Magic Mouse lists the system requirements as:

Bluetooth-enabled Mac with OS X 10.11 or later
iPad with iPadOS 13.4 or later

Hmmm.... both backward and forward incompatibility.... the pinnacle of planned obsolescence.

Thats it, I've decided it’s a feature, two of each please.
And once you use it, it’s assigned to yourself and yourself only. No resale value. But it can be traded back in to Apple Store for a keyboard that supports the next version of Mac OS 😂

Ever since I updated to 15.1 my superdrive no longer plays CDs. I know I'm opening myself up to ridicule here, but it's fine.
I still rip occasional CDs because I'd prefer the higher quality audio vs non-high res audio from streaming services.

This is good to know though. I have an external Blu ray drive I use to rip movies. I'm curious to know if i will have trouble as well.

I’m using all three devices with my iPad Pro m4, running the latest beta of iOS 18.2, and these devices aren’t fully working here either. The keyboard can type but the function row keys don’t work, and the mouse and trackpad are missing gestures.

my ipad pro with 18.1 sees it as ‘Magic Keyboard’ in the bluetooth settings. fn working fine.

What happens if you plug it into a Windows or Linux machine? 🤔

I'm replacing the Apple Magic Keyboard (Space Gray, pre Touch ID) I currently use plugged into a KVM switch with macOS, Windows, and Xbox. I wonder if I will be able to use it on the latter two at all. I certainly didn't expect Touch ID to work but I was really counting on the rest of it to work. It arrives today.

Following up on this. My Apple Magic Keyboard USB-C arrived and it functions the same as my old one did under Windows, including the same behavior for the function row and the ability to press Command+F15 for PrintScrn. I don't use any Apple specific drivers.

And yes, both this and the old one were the full keyboard with numpad. I probably should have specified that at the start.

I also got a new Magic Mouse and Trackpad but only the trackpad is actually connected to the KVM so only it can be seen by Windows. It doesn't scroll or function for anything except moving the cursor and left-clicking but that's the same behavior as the old one. I never bothered to see if there was a way to fix it.

My USBC Magic Mouse arrived today, and it will not scroll.

What version of macOS do you have?

This has created an infuriating problem for me. I use a work managed device (M1 MacBook Air on 15.0.1). The new USB-C peripherals do not work properly. macOS recognises them as generic devices and therefore I can't use any of the touch functionality on the mouse or even the function keys on the keyboard. I am unable to upgrade macOS until the organisation I works for approves and releases it. Who knows how long that will be.

They werent able to include software for it because it would have spoiled it. Thats the cost of hunting down every little code snippet in the hope of finding a future product
