I do think that it’s unreasonable to release hardware with unfinished software. These things just got released, so not unreasonable to have a slight delay while the software patches get updated and pushed.

I had 15. I updated to 15.1 and now it works. Pretty dumb if you ask me lol. What version of macOS do you have?
Yeah. The only thing it doesnt do is scroll. I was on 15, and I updated to 15.1 and now it works. Pretty dumb lol.Does it click at least?
I hope you're kidding lol. But for real, I was on 15 and updated to 15.1, and now it works. Really dumb if you ask me.The latest Magic Mouse requires a Mac with M3 or above to scroll.
You can scroll 5 meters each month for free.Scrolling subscriptions represent 75 percent of global revenue for Apple in 2035 😂
A search for the cd I bought shows that none of those services have it (and I searched others). This is from an artist which has a new album coming in January, her 7th album. Why none of the services have that particular album in America is beyond me.I'm not sure the latter part is entirely true. I listen to a lot of niche bands and artists and the majority of them are available on Qobuz and YouTube Music, and IIRC Spotify as well. So if they are not represented on Apple Music, I'd change your sentence too "Anyone who has interests outside of mainstream can't rely on Apple Music".
Likely some releases of Apple's drivers for their custom keyboard and mouse protocols don't see the new ones as matching, so it degrades to treat it like generic keyboards and mice that don't support things like encrypted fingerprint sensor protocol channels or multitouch 2d scroll surfaces.
If it was a BLE issue I would imagine they would be invisible rather than degrading.
TouchID I might be able to understand. Non-working function keys and scrolling functionality though? We're talking about things that have worked out-of-the-box on pretty much every computer in existence 20+ years. It is absolutely unreasonable to to have a "slight delay" while waiting for software to "fix" something that should never, ever break in the first place. Will probably get resolved over time with updates. These things just got released, so not unreasonable to have a slight delay while the software patches get updated and pushed.
exactly. The keys are just sending keycodes, and they shouldn't change because the keyboard was updated if the intended functionalities haven't changed.TouchID I might be able to understand. No, you're right to call this out. I hate this unannounced obscelence. They were selling the device until a few months ago and if it's suddenly not working on the latest OS then that is absolutely appalling support. I go to lots of gigs and support smaller bands by buying their music and merch (they get nothing from streaming) and use an old knock-off superdrive (got from ebay for next to nothing haha) for ripping the CD's quite often. I used to use an old 2007 iMac, just for this purpose until it died recently. I can't be the only peron who still rips or burns CD's?Ever since I updated to 15.1 my superdrive no longer plays CDs. I know I'm opening myself up to ridicule here, but it's fine.

Couldn't agree more, I had the same conversation with Apple Executive relations just this week and they really could not have cared less. The kind of profits they have, growth they have, they just don't care while sales and profits grow.InsanityIncompetence at its finest.
Not really looking forward to Apple updates of any kind these days. They can't seem to get either hardware or software to work very well.
Yes, all similar companies have issues. But Apple was not this bad in the past, there were issues here or there, but not like now. I'm talking over the decades as well, not just a year or two.
Apple's overall quality of just about everything they make these days has gone downhill and seems like it's just getting worse with each release of anything. Not looking forward to Apple in 2025. Which is sad![]()
That's incorrect, I have a M1 MacBook, with the new OS and it scrolls fine. The latest Magic Mouse requires a Mac with M3 or above to scroll.
yep! I use them as well. Unfortunately, Qobuz and 7Digital don't always have everything i'm looking for.Qobuz has CD-quality audio. Sure, it costs a bit more, but you do get true quality. And there are small tools on GitHub that you can use to download the FLACs.
Alright, maybe it's a rights issue then? I'm European, so it could make a difference as to what is available.A search for the cd I bought shows that none of those services have it (and I searched others). The company makes the OS. The company makes the hardware. The company boasts this level of perfectly integrated harmony between hardware and software as a unicorn-level of unique bliss that nobody else in the world could possibly have because of said integration.Soooooo something doesn't work properly with a beta software "release" and people are somehow surprised at this?
Sooo...Would Seqoia on OCLP support it, or no?
Really? Avoiding a leak on usb-c accessories everyone knew will come this year because of regulations? I guess their whole security team was protecting the keyboard then, because everything else leaked![]()
Better stick to PC's for stationary computers.
With the launch of new M4 Macs this week, Apple introduced USB-C versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard to continue on with phasing out the Lightning port. Apple users who plan to buy these new accessories should be aware that there are some software limitations currently.

The new USB-C accessories require macOS Sequoia 15.1 to work properly, and as noted on the MacRumors forums, earlier versions of macOS do not work. There are reports from users running macOS Sonoma and Ventura who are having issues with the new devices. With the keyboard, Touch ID and function keys don't work, and with the Magic Mouse, the scrolling doesn't function. In some cases, the accessories are recognized as older devices, inhibiting proper functionality.
This isn't a problem limited to just people running older versions of macOS, because there are also reports from developers who have installed the first macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta. It appears that the macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta was released before Apple could add in support for the new Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad.
macOS Sequoia 15.1 seems to be required to use the accessories as intended at the current time. For those who had an older version of macOS, updating to macOS Sequoia 15.1 did solve the functionality issues, and Apple should be adding support to the macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta in the near future.

Yes, I know it was by design. Still, very bad design idea. That's by design...or didn't you know?
It looks like it's a new trend. USB port on the underside of the mouse, power button below the Mac mini...At least they didn't put the USB-C ports on the bottom of the Mac Mini![]()
It's called "courage"what on earth is going on in Cupertino?!? USB products that don’t work with previous OS versions. Power buttons on the bottom of MacMini’s 😂😂😂
