The AVP is a grand experiment. Apple have squeezed as much tech as they can into it and it just made the cut as a viable prosumer product. It's bordering on a highly polished prototype. It's not quite ready for prime time. It needs to get lighter and have more battery life without a battery pack in your pocket and a lead.

I'm genuinely curious to see if Apple uses the refurb market to market test the lower price point so many have been clamoring for.

I’m simply waiting on veterans discount to be offered. Apple indicated they will be but not when. I’ve some gift cards to throw down and probably switch to 256 from a tb. Will take it down to about 1500.

So it’s a return and grab one later.

Returned mine yesterday. Don't like the FOV, OLED smearing, Internal reflections, weight, external battery, not much of a use case, comfort. Needs to go back into the oven for a while. I had every intention of keeping it, but I feel it didn't live up to Apple's hype and Ads. I do think it will catch on eventually gen 3 or 4. Will revisit.

This is where my head's at on Day 13 as well. However, I noticed today that, despite minimal installs, I'm using up 200+ GB of storage, with most of it going to apps, OS, and "System Data". More on that in today's review.

I expect the stores will be far busier processing the returns than selling new units. This thing is a massive flop, a (not so good) solution that could not find a problem. It’ll probably end up like the Google glasses things, or the pippin.

I returned mine today. Bummer, because I've been following this device since WWDC (and even longer). I didn't have a problem with the weight, and once I got the right light steal—12N—the solo band was incredibly comfortable. There are so many amazing things about the Vision Pro.

But the software just isn't there for productivity, and the hardware is blurry compared to a 4k monitor that costs an 8th of the price. Nor could I justify the device for a work computer in its current state. The beta VisonOS 1.1 updates 1 & 2 made passthrough a lot better and fixed some bugs. If VisionOS was closer to MacOS rather than iPadOS I might feel more confident that Apple would quickly catch up and developers would fill the void. But I've got several generations of iPads too, and I still do the bulk of my work on a Macbook.

Pity. I was really hoping this would replace my desktop setup. Maybe when VisonOS 2 comes out I'll grab one.

It's an expensive product that only works for certain people. If the product was much cheaper it might be popular for occasional use, but at the current price you need to be using it a lot. For many people this kind of use just isn't natural. I give credit to Apple for designing this and there will be a select few that can be comfortable using this hours everyday, but in the end we are still humans. For many it just isn't compatible with our natural sense of sight and feel.

People Realizing they look like muppets wearing this thing. Go outside and talk to real people.
I really doubt this has anything to do with things that were known about the product before it released (appearance, how a person looks when wearing it) and more to do with things that weren't (OS feature-completeness, ease of use, experiential value, comfort, fit).

I think its as close to prototype as you can get for it to be at retail… amazing tech but its a big big venture for Apple. I know many people criticise this type of comment, but would Steve Jobs have released it?

I think he might have held off a bit longer… will be extremely interesting to see what comes in gen 2, 3 and by 4 we will know if it will be a staple in their lineup.

Lets hope it gets there… i think there is huge potential for certain applications.
