THIS.Sounds like a great time to talk about Lemmy, a decentralized, Federated, open-source Reddit replacement. Learn more at https://join-lemmy.org/
Which are you using n find most effective?I've been using an adblocker for over 20 years. I still can't believe people browse the web without one.
It might, I won't deny that... but I try my best to thwart the efforts of advertisters to do so. The only one that I can say manageed to get a profile of me close to my actual interests so far was Instagram, after which I deleted my account (no loss there.Even if you consciously tune out ads, research in psychology and marketing suggests that ads can still influence you on a subconscious level. This phenomenon is called “priming.” Studies have shown that exposure to certain stimuli, even if you’re not consciously paying attention, can influence your subsequent thoughts, behaviors, and decisions. So, while you might not actively notice or engage with an ad, it might still shape your preferences, attitudes, or behaviors without you realizing it.
It isn't that one group or groups outnumber another - it's that every group is on there. Conservatives, Liberals, Republicans, Democrats, Vegans, Paleos, etc., etc., etc. And each one thinks the "other" group is at fault. Always. That's what Reddit has in spades.Leftist heaven - Reddit. Hope they clean their act soon. I love Reddit minus the leftist and political groups.
its definitely more leftist than anything. Recently someone asked where to move in a city and I responded with good input but mentioned not ot move to a specific place because there are many homeless people living in the streets. I got downvoted for trying to give safe advice. It isn't that one group or groups outnumber another - it's that every group is on there. There are adblockers on iOS, and they work on Reddit. I use Brave on iOS and I don’t see any ads on Reddit (or here).Man I'm so glad I don't have a reddit account
Well that becomes a problem on iOS and iPadOS because since we don't have sideloading (yet) we don't have UBlock Origin.
It only says Safari ads…AdGuard does in most apps (although there are some exceptions like Youtube).
You have to enable DNS filtering to do system-wide ad-blacking:It only says Safari ads…
[snip]
What if the ad blocker app is worse? How would you know?Just further cements my theory that ad/content blockers are mandatory.
They use IP tracking to know how many you have. Reddit has become a cesspool, no doubt.although reddit Is a great place to ask for mechanic advice or get feedback on specific industry topics, I found it can be a time wasting habit and the users are very left leaning. I responded to someones question with a subtle joke in the response and reddit banned me for life form the group and also banned my other account. not sure how they know I had two different accounts. also if your replies are center or right leaning, you will get downvoted to infinity even if you gave great feedback. I dont care what reddit does because I wont be going there unless I have a specific industry question.
Pihole works great for getting a lot of ads - including on iOS apps, Xbox dashboard, etc.Which are you using n find most effective?
Does it work with the rest of iOS Apps?
Reddit is a sick place. Once someone posted a link to some group called Eye Bleach or something and I went to the link. The things I saw there are still traumatizing me. There are sick individuals who go on there and watch this psychopathic content. Id love to get a real statistic of what sort of people actually spend a lot of time on reddit.
no but I did learn that peoples opinions are made up and they will spend their lives repeating the same talking points like some Ai NPC. I chose to stay away social media since it's pointless and often full of stupidity. I guess im on Macrumors but I just got new apple toys so want to learn about them.Did they ask you to join the Lemon Party? A cool new political group that all the hip kids are talking about!
If anyone suggest you visit a website with the word "Lemon Party" in it...probably best to not click on the link. And I agree social media is stupid. However, Reddit does have its uses...certain computer subreddits/etc on there are helpful.no but I did learn that peoples opinions are made up and they will spend their lives repeating the same talking points like some Ai NPC.
