I love my 2018 MacBook Pro. Best laptop I have ever had

I don't think that's good statistics you're using there. Anyway, it doesn't matter. The bigger picture is this: a manufacturer of hardware is going through a rough spell with some problems. People complain. The complainers search and find forums and are heard, despite their relatively small numbers. Hardware manufacturer (hopefully) fixes the problems. If it were a small number or percentage, then we wouldn't have people going in to get their MacBook Pros repaired three or four or even five times. If the odds were 1%, then the odds of requiring five repairs would be on in 10^5 which should basically mean that it should never happen. But we've had many people with three repairs - which shouldn't happen if it were truly rare or small.

Apple has made hardware before. They have made mistakes before. They fixed them. They will fix them now, too. No reason to think a PC manufacturer from the top 5 is going to destroy itself all of a sudden after a few problems.
Now, if Rambo's predictions are anywhere near the truth, we're in for a treat later this year.
I feel for you, but simple statistics just don't work here. They work at the first problem, but not afterwards. Why not? Because when a keyboard is problematic, they spray it with compressed air and it's "fixed". We all know that's not true. That's why even if it's 1% getting problems with their keyboard, it will be a much higher percentage that has problems after that. Say, 1/3? If you then look at the chance of getting 4 "problem fixes" after the first one, it's over 1%.We don't have hard statistics. Apple does. So I'm using my paraphrase of Apple's description of their statistics.
It's not like I'm new at this. I've had six or seven motherboard replacements by Apple.

To each their own. I think the Surface Pro line is horrible. Bad tablet, mediocre laptop. Never understood this device.
As some of you may know, I brought a Surface Pro 6 November of last year (Black Friday deal), initially I wasn't a big fan. But just lately I've been using it more and more, over that time I've found it to be a good little device. MacOS is still a better OS in my opinion, however the Surface Pro 6 is some great hardware. I have to eat some humble pie because my previous comments were not so positive about Surface devices.
I do believe that there is a learning curve and I needed to put more time into the device.
Apple's current keyboard isnt for me, they have to many issues and I can't trust it. Until Apple fix it and work hard at restoring faith I'm going to keep using my Surface Pro 6. I'm no longer selling it and have removed it from sale.
Yes I really like my Apple products, but paying out thousands of £ for a laptop that has issues with the keyboard, just isnt right. Before anyone jumps on the "Apple hater" bandwagon, I have been an Apple fan for many years, I own an iPhone X, iPad Pro, Apple Watch S4 and an iMac 2012. I'm just not going to stick up for Apple when they are clearly in the wrong. In order for me to consider getting a new MacBook Air or Pro, they NEED to fix the keyboard. What I may do is wait it out and see if they redesign the iMac next year, I will then buy one of those instead.

Even the biggest Apple fan is now criticising them for the keyboard issue. You know it must be bad when Drew from Tailosive Tech is bashing Apple over the keyboard issue.
OMG I can't believe it. Drew!!! I never thought I'd see the day. On a happier note, I just got a new PineBook delivered today. I can't wait to start playing with it. Someone in this thread mentioned it. I must find them and thank them.

I've owned them and they're good for a specific demographic. The Surface Pros are not meant to go head to head against the 15" MBP or anything of that class. They're a tablet that can run desktop software (something the iPad cannot do), and act like a laptop. Conversely the Surface Book machines are the opposite, they're laptops that can act like a tablet. To each their own. I think the Surface Pro line is horrible. Bad tablet, mediocre laptop. I've never liked Tailosive Tech, but man... I've just noticed how much he relies on jump cuts when talking. Is he incapable of forming lengthy, coherent sentences?
Agreed, though. You know it's bad when even the hardcore fanboys are joining in with the criticism. My work computer is a 2018 15-inch and I like it overall, but definitely prefer the 2015 I use at home. I'm fine with having a Touch Bar model for work because I didn't pay for it, but there's no way I'd buy one now for personal use.
It is a wonderful tablet and a very good portable computer. Just because Apple didn't do it is no reason for you to bash it. It lays flat for taking notes, and it is fantastic to draw on using top quality applications vs watered down mobile apps. It was popular enough for Apple to attempt to copy it functionality with the iPad pro, which has a worst keyboard, no built in stand, and no file management, and using only a mobile system.

There's something to be said to have a tablet that run desktop class apps, and many folks need that level of flexibility.
Running desktop class software as I mentionedof these devices over a dedicated tablet.
Wonderful tablet? I think not. No real tablet apps, awkward to outright terrible holding it in portrait.
My advice, get both a good tablet and a separate good laptop. There isn't a device yet that exists that does both well.

So if the criteria is to have a laptop that also functions 'ok' as a tablet, then maybe I see your point. But I cant believe anyone would ever choose the tablet functions of these devices over a dedicated tablet.
Actually there are quite a few apps that run well on it as a tablet. If your idea of a tablet is primarily as a consumption device running so called Freemium games etc... well ok. On my Surface Pro I run Affinity Photo, Rebelle, and Sketchbook, all from the store and made for the tablet environment. In addition to being able to run full Painter which also has a tablet mode. Microsoft provides Office in tablet form as well. There are quite a few real games not freemium crap, and I have Steam installed which has some great simulation games, that I prefer that are not "sucker" games that run in so called real time and ask for money in order to play.
Running desktop class software as I mentioned![]()
I have no 'Freemium Games' on my iPad Pro. I do have database apps, ebook apps, educational apps, task managers, calendars, note taking apps, photo, video editing, etc.
Jeez, that is an odd assumption

curious, what desktop software do you use in tablet mode on your Surface?
My workplace provides us with MacBook Pros and mine is a 2015. I have a coworker with a 2017 and it's been in the Apple Store twice for repairs. Yes, it will get fixed but you might not have the use of it for a few days to a week.
In your shoes, I'd ask for a 2015 (people turn them in) or get one used. I did exactly that a few months ago.
I wouldn’t buy any Apple computers made after 2015. When I watch their keynote presentations it becomes clear that Apple isn’t really interested in the computer end of things anymore and is focussing mostly on iPads iPhones and Apple TV. To me that signifies the writing is on the wall and apparently Microsoft also is aware of this as they’ve made vast improvements in their software over the last year or so. Switching to a Windows device might not be as bad as you think.
I just can't justify buying a new MacBook at the moment while the keyboards have issues. It's a gamble I just can't take. Apple need to fix it.
