It's been a while since has needed replacing and I've been debating whether or not to get the X.

I've been seeing a few articles and stuff about issues popping up like speaker crackling noises, green line on the screen, and the screen unresponsive in cold weather (but I've heard that's a software issue so not that big of a deal).

How has your experience been so far? Are these articles just exaggerating the issues because it's a brand new iPhone? Or would you recommend waiting it out and letting all the issues get sorted out first?

I would wait it out. There’s nothing wrong with the X now. But the next X phone will blow the current one away and it will have significant fixes and improvements. The wait will be worth it

I will def wait. The cost, the issues, the iOS. And the sick design (which may retain next year, ugh).
I am against this Ex. Waiting one more year.

Maybe, but it won’t be the 10th year Aniversary X, also really doubt there will be much if any improvements.

The X is one sweet phone! I say GO FOR IT!

My own experience is of course only my own, but I have had zero issues with my X since I received it on launch day. Not even in the cold. It is a true pleasure to use!

I came from the iPhone 6s Plus. Had it for a couple of years. I also had the 6 plus. There was no difference between those two (my opinion) and I was disappointed and stopped upgrading. I got tired of the big phone.. and when the X was announced it was the perfect time to get another device.
Form factor and how different it looks from all the previous iPhones made me pull the trigger for sure. No regrets. I’m a bit obsessed. ;)
Note: A lot of apps has not been updated to the X yet.

You honestly think the cost will go down? Non issue
What issues are you talking about? Mine has been flawless
iOS runs fantastic on the X, another none issue
Sick design, are you serious? The extremely boring 6-7-8 are sick and boring, the X is sexy and sleek.
I realize change is hard for some.

X for me and loving it, never going back to tired and boring. Face ID is amazing also and works flawlessly

Wait it out for what?

Next years iphone? That's crazy!!!

If anyone is in the market to grab a phone, there's nothing wrong with picking up an iPhone X now, providing you can land one. Phone is sleek, super fast, takes amazing pics, has a very decent battery life, and fits a very nice size screen into an extremely compact footprint...if you're an iphone user the X is the best iPhone you can purchase at the moment, and that will be the story for the next year.

My answer is yes...An iPhone X is 100% worth upgrading to!

It's been absolutely fantastic. I came from a 6s and it's night and day. I have AT&T Next, so I always have the option to upgrade if the new model is that much better. While I'm sure some users have had issues, it's not like it's common or even widespread. We hear about the dead pixels, odd coloring and all sorts of horror stories after every single release.

I honestly think some people like making a stink just to show that they 'got the new phone first.'

I am waiting for $2000 base model iPhone, not $900 base model iPhone. I am sure Apple will go towards that step eventually.
Notch is a compromise of functionality in exchange for aesthetic. Edge to edge. Ugh. I have mis-touched the screen so many times. 6-7-8 design has become boring indeed. So people demands something new. Unfortunately, “new” != “better”.
Face ID still needs some works. Gesture and highly sensitive touch screen are very good but still needs some work. iOS 11.... see how tedious it is to pull down control center.

I think you should buy an android as they are certainly priced lower.
I love the notch, people know it’s an X and not some android device
Face ID has been flawless
Pull down control center, no biggie but we already know you are resistant to change

If you live in the US* and your only reservation is potential issues, it’s a no brainer. Get the phone and return it if you have problems or even just don’t like it. Keep your backup phone at least until the decision is made. Absolutely that simple.

* specified this because various regions have differing return policies.

Unfortunately, I am not resistant to change, but resistant to change for the sake of change. They are different. But well. No point to continue when we are going different directions. Good luck and have fun.

The reality is, every iPhone will progressively supersede or be better than the current one. I want to add, the iPhone X is not a beta phone for those who consider it. It's an excellent starting point for Apple with Face ID, and the maturity of OLED will continue evolve.

But there are many who skipped this year because they want to see how Face ID and the iPhone X played out altogether, which will likely join on board in 2018 when they also offer a larger 6.5 iPhone X.

It’s easy to find articles about a small number of people with issues which is not surprising considering the number of units this thing is shipping out there.

It’s been a flawless user experience for me, it’s a pleasure to use and definitely worth the upgrade from my 7 Plus.

I personally don’t think there’s any point waiting. And if you’re really that worried about issues at least you know Apple has great customer service.

If those are the only things holding you back, go ahead and buy the X :)
It always looks bad on this forum, but remember, postings are exaggerated a lot, and made look worse then it actually is, and the X users who are happy don't post as much.
and Apple has great service :)

I’d say, buy it. If you’re considering it, that’s because you like and want it.

It’s always way easier to find bad reports. Little people want to spend their time praising. People are way more prone to complain.

Go and get it. If you wait for the next one, when the next one comes, you’ll also wait for the following one. There will always be a “next best thing”...

There will always be manufacturing or hardware defects no matter how many versions are made. The iPhone 6-8 series has certainly evolved over the years, they still come through with defects. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a X, Apple has a great return policy and if something should go wrong after the return period, warranty will take care of it.

The “articles” you see about iPhone problems are written by people who come here to find negative stuff to write about in their “articles”.

Macrumors turns into a spring break beach town at every iPhone launch. But instead of coming here to party, people flock here to complain about this that and the other.

The reality is, even if 1000 people come here to complain about a scratched screen, they are the vocal minority.

Historically, even the iPhone’s biggest flaw by far, antennagate, was a relatively small problem, in the face of millions of unaffected phones.

At every launch, the forum swells with complainers, who will either exchange the phones, return them, or forget about the complaint altogether, and forget about macrumors altogether, until the next launch.

And it’s during this “spring break” that tech blogs send their interns to sites like macrumors, to harvest these complaints, and then conflate them into click baiting “articles”, like so many seagulls plucking at a school of minnows.

So these articles are merely a reduction of a distillation, crafted to garner traffic and gorge on the buzz, before all the hype dies down and everyone is happily enjoying their new iPhone.

Happens every year.
