There will be another phone. It just wont be called Nexus. Where you been?

The functionality seems pretty cool but I'm not in love with the look of the UI. Also I'll wait until I've seen how thick these watches actually are. Definitely not ordering anything until I've seen what Apple comes up with.

I never pre order and in this case, ive never really been that interested in wear gear. I dont like wearing a watch so for me to get one it would really have to do something spectacular and even then, i always have my phone on me.

I like the Android Wear concept. I think going forward there will be a buttload of Android watches. I haven't seen what Apple has to offer.

At this point I'm on the fence. A Mac (no Chromebook for me), an iPad Mini (brand new, not going away), and a Google Nexus 5. For the foreseeable future, I won't go Chromebook while Macs are as good as they are, but the Android/iOS environment is up for grabs.

If the iWatch is leaps and bounds better than the LG G watch, I would use my upgrade on the iPhone 6 and consider the watch. If it's not, I would consider keeping the Nexus as my smartphone while I look into the LG G watch.

So no, not preordering because I don't know what else is going to be out there shortly.

This. Unfortunately, i think these things will still sell in droves, so it will likely be a while before I get to examine things like the thickness.
 
Jumped in 1/2 way, but not really excited w/ Android Wear. I mean, I suppose they are the backbone of the software so it's up to Samsung, LG and Moto to get the product right, but shocked that there wasn't a real good product demo. As for a smaller form factor to consumer info, not sure why this would generate mass appeal.

I thought Android Auto was pretty innovative. Not wildly crazy about uploading my data all the time to Google servers, but I think keeping your car up to date via your device is unique.

I wish Samsung, LG and HTC would be more proactive in supporting the openness of Android and helping to develop it rather than doing their independent development.

It's at least 10 times as good as the iOS Carplay system at this point. Android in the Car makes Carplay look like a cheap skin.
 
Material Design is pretty cool now that I got a chance to reach/watch more about it. The whole shadow and perspective (almost 3D-like) idea is pretty neat.

I'm digging the UI animations too.
 
I came in about 45 min late to the keynote and had it on in the background (thanks to my Chromecast 😉) so fairly certain I missed much of the specific detail but here are my initial thoughts on what I saw/read, FWIW.

Android L
- Like some of the features/functionality I saw, specifically the lock screen notifications, and the Personal Unlocking. I believe I also read something about an Android equivalent to iOS's on screen banner notifications but haven't seen any screen shots--is it similar to iOS? These are two elements of iOS's notifications that I like and really round out the Android experience.

- Not a big fan of the new Material Design UI, at least the very little bit that I've seen so far. Seems like an awful lot of wasted space, sort of like they took the same amount of space and used smaller font/graphics--best example was the comparison of old and new gmail. I like the layering elements but the rest just doesn't seem as polished in appearance. I also really dislike the geometric shapes for onscreen buttons. Of course, will certainly reserve judgement until after some hands on time.

Android Wear seems really slick--a great job building on what existing smartphones are capable off and taking it to a new level. I question some of the functionality (i.e. not going to use my watch to complete a recipe, especially when I would likely have a much larger screen immediately available), but overall seems really cool. I haven't seen any mention of compatibility--does it work with all Android devices (I'm looking at you Samsung)? Minimum OS level required on your phone? Compatible with iOS?

Android TV seems to be more of the same--Android's take on what's already out there on other platforms. I like the functionality I saw but have reservations on how it'll actually be implemented by OEMs. Are we going to see a dozen different skins atop Android TV as we do now on tablets/phones?

Android Car also seems really slick but really need to see how car manufactures actually implement it before forming any concrete opinions.

A lot of potentially great stuff announced today. I'm containing any excitement I have though due to the fact that OEM's may very well butcher the hell out of everything.

I also appreciate that vanilla android has gone with more elegant animation as opposed to iOS which seems to have either eliminated or minimized them.

Yes, thats super unique, let me think, is there any other platform announced lately working the same way, oh right, Carplay.

Yeah, but like I previously said, this are all performance enhancements and such, but what I really wanted was more new user features, like the do not disturb one (finally!).

4.3 and 4.4 were already about performance. Since 4.2 I haven't seen many new user features.

You mean the rumored android silver program? If so, it's still just a rumor.
 
Some more pics of the Gear Live up here. Can't tell if it's going to be too thick for my taste (the other Gears are). I kinda like the way it looks from the front through. The LG watch looks a bit too blocky, and the 360 definitely too thick.

Fair enough , i misunderstood

Controlling Apps is probably the biggest weakpoint in android for me, that and the lockscreen

cant live without greenify and apps ops x

I was also hoping for the chromebook 'continuity' features to also work via an extension in chrome browser
they need to buy pushbullet already
