OK, the last email I got at 2:28 hit my gmail inbox and iphone at almost the same time...not sure what is going on, this is driving me crazy.

For those who have this working (mine worked this morning but no longer works), can you share your following settings?

1. Under 'Settings', 'Fetch New Data', 'Fetch'
2. Under 'Settings', 'Fetch New Data', 'Fetch', 'Advanced', 'Gmail'

Thanks.

I've been connected to wifi all afternoon with (g)mails coming in, and I haven't even gotten the fetch notifications I'm supposed to get (every 30 minutes) let alone push.

So this only works when connected to wifi? I rarely even bother using a wifi connection unless I'm in my apartment because I don't get 3G.

Push Gmail. Doesn't work for me.

I've kind of gone of Gmail now, I dont like their star system, much prefer folders (and I have one of the first gmail accounts).

I just signed up to Yahoo and love their address guard system, it kicks spam in the nuts!!

I read this some time before but today i noticed gmail coming to my phone instantly, whats odd is i dont even have push turned on, only fetch every 15.

Just placed on order for a dvd drive, 1 minute after i hit the purchase button my phone beeped with a new email, i checked it, then 3 minutes later i got another email, then a minute later it beeped again, that timeframe doesnt coincide with my fetch interval either, weird

Gmail has labels. Labels are better than folders.

That is all.

(but ya, push gmail isn't working for me either - that's why I use yahoo on the iPhone .... for now)

It's working for me over 3G.

I have my Fetch settings set to hourly, and I've been sending test emails from my work email address.

It could take anywhere from a minute to a few minutes to push, but it does work.

It also updates the messages when I delete them off of Mail on my Mac!

So there's definitely Push going on.

Cool!

Unfortunately you have to have Fetch on, so I'll probably turn it off anyway to save battery so it's not checking every hour AND pushing. I don't get that many emails anyway.

Hopefully they'll set it up so that you can turn Fetch off and still have push Gmail.

Using manual retrieve, I'm getting 'push' Gmail as well (seems like less than a minute to me). juice831, check to see if you have IMAP enabled within Gmail. Now if we could only get a unified Inbox!

You mean by setting IMAP prefix to [Gmail] ?

Just so everyone knows...

It's not just Gmail that's doing this. My work IMAP account is doing the same thing. I think it's a bug with it being set to 1 hour...

Yeah, it worked for me for a while but no longer does.

Hmmm. But what about those who had it set to a shorter time or even to Manual?

Maybe it is some kind of bug. But that would mean it's checking constantly, so wouldn't that kill the battery?

Hey, it was WORKING for me when I had my Gmail forwarded to my MobileMe account (Yes, I realize MobileMe has push but, the Gmail message would show up a minute later without even touching the icon). Then I decided since push was working on Gmail, I should turn MobileMe off... I also turned off forwarding in Gmail prefs... now it doesn't work... hmmmmm.

Edit: I JUST enabled forwarding again even though MobileMe is not active on my iPhone and Gmail PUSH works again!

Hmm... why doesn't it work over Edge?

Edit: Oops... took a few minutes but, this works over EDGE too!

Hmm, its not working for me. I have IMAP enabled in my Gmail account, and on the iPhone I have fetch to 1 hour and Push turned on but its not working. But I also am not getting what you are listing. All I get is Settings/Fetch New Data/Push.

It's worked for me and is right now on 15 minutes. And yes, it seems that it is constantly checking and draining my battery.
