PwnageTool 4.0 is out!!!!

I got my 3GS replaced under warranty and they gave me a (obviously unJB'd) 3.1.3 with the older bootrom.

There is no way to bring this device to a jailbroken 4.0 install atm, correct?

Nope
Only JB for you is Spirit and Spirit doesn't qualify for already jailbroken as far as Pwnage Tool is concerned
 
Curious as to what the method would be for a 'virgin' 3.1.2 3GS. Never upgraded to 3.1.3 or jailbroken before. It is a first day unit, so it should have the old bootrom. Would I jailbrake first under 3.1.2 then upgrade? Is it possible to do both under PT 4.0? not sure of the steps I should take.

Try Redsn0w on 3.1.2

Use Redsnow to jailbreak 3.1.2 and then PT to update to 4.0
 
I'm currently jailbroken & unlocked on 3.1.2 through Blackrain/Blacksn0w on my iPhone 3GS w/old bootrom. But I am unhappy at the fact that I get the whole dropped signal error on Blacksn0w. Can I use Pwnagetool 4.0 to create a custom 4.0 ipsw and restore to that, and then use the new Ultrasnow unlock?

No...I'm at 3.1.3 JB with PwnageTool. PwnageTool 4 fails when I try to create a custom 4.0 ipsw. I get a big red "X" saying failed.

I went through pwnage 4.0 and found out its only for mac.
any equivalent out thr?
is thr a way we can use t pwnage tool fr windows?

I am getting the same error. Pwnagetool 4.0 makes the custom IPSW no problem, but every time I try to restore in Itunes I get the 1600 error.
 
im new to jb'ing
i know i cant use this if i used spirit to jb but what if i restored to original firmware that i saved before using spirit and then used pwnagetool?

if i cant do this should i just wait for spirit to update or could i use another software if one comes out before spirit
 
I have been reading so much today on this that I have a feeling I am confusing myself.

I have a 3GS 3.1.3 Jailbroken with Spirit baseband 5.12.01 with the old bootrom. I know I can not use pwnagetool 4.0 in my phones current state but if I downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with blackra1n I believe I should be able to, am I right?

My bad, I was going into DFU mode and not RECOVERY mode so that's why I was getting the 1600 message.

Here's what to do:

Disconnect your device from the computer.
Hold down the HOME button and keep it on hold
Now connect the cable until you see the Itunes logo or Steve Jobs on there
Now let go of the HOME button and restore to custom IPSW

mine keeps saying preparing iphone for restore. (3g 3.1.3 already jb'd)

edit: i think i got it working. the ipsw that i created the first time was probably corrupted (not the first time this has happened).

btw, does anyone know if the allow other features checkbox (multitasking, wallpapers, etc.) work with 3g?
 
i have pwnage tool 4.0 download and installed but i cant open the 3gs restore file?

Could it be that simple for me?
I have a 3GS unlocked with Pwnagetool on 3.1.2.
All I have to do is run Pwnagetool 4.0 and install ultrasn0w?

how would you downgrade to 3.1.2?
can you download it from somewhere?
