Ugh, this sounds MIGHTY tempting... but I got so many apps installed and customized.... xD

I'm aware that there are some "backup" programs for jailbroken stuff, but are they reliable? I have heard horror stories where the restore process is borked.

I just used PkgBackup to restore 4.1 on my iPhone 4 yesterday. Went as smooth as silk. What I've found is that as long as your are moving from one sub-release (4.x to 4.x) it works great. Jumping from 3.x to 4.x for example just introduces too many variables of change.

I haven't JB'd in a while. Did they stop making the Windows versions of the PwnageTool? Am I stuck w/ Greenpois0n?

I believe snowbreeze is the windows version. It was also just released, but I would like to see a little more info on it before I use it.

I'd look for a custom ipsw created with pwnage online instead. Snowbreeze sucks and it's very buggy.
Or use a friends Mac to create one if you can.

Ah ok, thanks for the suggestions! I'll look for a fellow mac user. :)

What bugs does the latest snowbreeze have? I haven't read much about it yet.

I have a 3gs synced with a pc. Can I use pwnage to create the ipsw on a mac, then move it to the windows machine to do the restore?

1st look at iPhone 4G or iPhone 5 w/ 4G FW???

My iPhone 4 was still using 4.0.1 with 01.59.00

I updated using PwnageTool 4.2 and when my BlueAnt T1 connects to it, it now says I'm connected to iPhone 4G... Maybe 1st site of 4G firmware???

Hi, can somebody help me with my problem?

I have an iPhone 3GS with firmware 05.15.04 (version 4.2.1), and I jailbroke it with PwnageTool 4.2 today. As expected, the firmware number didn't change, and I downloaded ultrasn0w. I don't think I unlocked the phone though because it won't recognize my T-Mobile SIM card. I'm confused as to what to do now… Do I have to change the baseband in order for ultrasn0w to work (to 06.15.00, for example)?

Oh, and I don't know if this means anything, but when I plugged in my iPhone to my computer after jailbreaking it but before downloading ultrasn0w, I accidentally hit Restore from last night's backup. I didn't think anything of that either because Cydia was still installed on the phone.

Sorry if the answer is really obvious. I really don't know anything about this kind of stuff. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

In general the creator of Snowbreeze and stuff that he puts out is junk and not up to The Dev Teams level.
Yes, you can create a custom IPSW with pwnage on a mac and then take the ipsw file and use it on a PC.
You will have to use Redsnow on the PC to put the iphone in Pwned DFU mode and then you will be able to restore to it thru itunes.
Or try to download one online if you find a trustworthy site or torrent.

Wow, I can't believe I missed this last week!

Anyway, I'm prepping my iPhone4 for the update to 4.2.1 with Pwnage but I wanted to add a custom logo I have created. I see that this new version of Pwnage doesn't let me choose a custom PNG boot logo. I created one and want to load it. Any ideas guys? Thanks much!

You can upload it later after you jb by installing "bootlogo" from Cydia.

Hi,
I've been waiting for untethered jailbreak for the latest firmware. So is that it? I'm JB on 4.1 (8B117) and i reckon my BB is: 02.10.04

So my question is is 4.3 fm coming soon and dows it worth updating the JB to 4.2.1 or shall i wait for 4.3. Also I'm going overseas in few months and i want to use my phone there as well. Is Jailbreaking again to 4.2.1 will update my BB and make it impossible to unlock or is there're otherway to unlock?

When i did my firs JB it was so easy but now it gets very complicated.

Thanks for your help

Use PwnageTool if you want to preserve your current 02.10.04 baseband but unless you're having major issues right now with 4.1 I'd recommend waiting for 4.3.

Your current baseband 02.10.04 can not be unlocked right now and to use an over seas carrier you will simply have to wait for an unlock to magically appear. I wouldn't hold my breath though ...

Thanks man!

I searched Cydia and Google and can't seem to find BootLogo however. I found something called Animate, but it seems that it's for installing animated boot logo's. Can I use that and just not animate my logo?

If i want to JB 4.2.1 which should i use?
GP or Pwnage?
cheers guys

If you have a Mac and want to preserve the baseband on your iPhone, prepackage some Cydia apps, etc, use Pwnage. If you already have 4.2.1 loaded and just need a jailbreak, GP should be fine.
