So if you have a 5 now, you could sell your 5, had some money saved, would you buy a 5S?

I was hoping for more on the 5S I really was. I understand its the 'S' increment, it would always be same form factor, but apart from the added scanner, flash, obvious speed increment, it's all software isn't it? 5 is getting iOS7 etc.

I've been saving so do have a little "spare" if ever there is anything like that!!?! So I'd sell my 5, use the saving which before anyone says was allocated for this anyway, and get a 5S.

My thinking is that by next Sep I really think the 6 will be a big upgrade, bigger screen pretty please ;) and if I wait till then obviously my 5 will be worth a lot less.

So any 5'ers out there what are you doing? Is it really worth it? Also I'm a little huffed that Apple has again upped the prices, I bought the 32Gb but that's now up to £629 for a phone SIM free - wow!!

Thanks

If you have the money to spend, why not. You could always sell the 5s when the 6 is released a year from now.

Personally I wouldn't. I don't consider a yearly upgrade necessary unless you work in the tech field or you're a phone blogger or some reason that your job depends on it.

Although carrier rates are pretty high here in the US, one good thing are the prices for brand new phones with contract. Most of us can sell our 4S for slightly less than $200, which makes every two years a virtually free upgrade with contract. It's a good situation.

Nope, because I think the 6 will be something pretty special. iOS 7 will be updated and truly complete, 64 bit usage will be in full form, the camera will get a thorough jump.

And btw, I'd say this is the biggest "S" upgrade so far. You have a faster chip (+64 bit), dual LED, improved camera, bigger battery, and of course touch ID (which I think is a bigger upgrade than Siri, generally speaking. At least to me, as it still doesn't support my native language). Added to all that you get the full iOS 7 treatment which is the biggest upgrade to iOS since the original iPhone.

I'm not. The upgrades are certainly nice but not nice enough for me to upgrade from the 5. If it will in any way impact your ability to get the 6 I wouldn't do it.

I could buy 10 iPhone 5Ses but I'm not going to.

Well good for you.

I myself will be getting the iPhone 5S solely for the camera features. I had been researching cameras because I will be taking a vacation soon and want to get some nice photos, but then I realized that I've had cameras in the past and hate carrying two devices that essentially do the same, so I decided the budget I had set for a camera will now just go to the iPhone 5S.

Just answering the question :) not bragging...I'm not rich by any means. Been saving hard all year for a mortgage deposit.

Upgrading my 64GB iPhone 5. Wasn't planning on it but my fiancée is moving to my plan after our wedding in October and she said she wanted my 5, so I'll buy a 5s with her new customer price. Then I'll use my upgrade for the 6 next year and give her the 5S. Rinse and repeat for the 6s, 7, 7s, etc

Probably only a speed increase and tweaked camera (over the 6).

The 6 will likely have a new profile similar to the iPad and have a larger screen. They are much greater improvements over the 5 > 5S.

So you're one of those that only cares of whats on the outside, not the inside.

Got it.

Going to preorder this friday 64gb version and not upgrade till iphone 6s this time.

Nope, money can be well spent on other things.

This is the first time that I have absolutely no desire to upgrade. Yes, there is a better camera, but I barely use the camera on phone anyway. However, everyone has different needs. At the end of the day, it comes down to what you really want.

I have an iPhone 5 and have not even considered uprgrading to the 5S. I'm going to hold out for the iPhone 6. My iPad 3 upgraded to an iPad 5 might be more tempting.
