I said the whole way along that apple would introduce a second gen watch next year. I expect there will be an announcement early next year after the holiday season and they have maxed out sales for the current version.
Apple were testing the market with the first gen watch. I expect the second gen to be better in many ways. Many people skip the first gen apple devices and wait for the next release. It will sell well.

The Watch likely has a longer replacement cycle, closer to an iPad than an iPhone. If there are significant improvements Apple may see upgraders, but I think their target right now is getting people to buy one in the first place.

I really hope Apple adds utility and rethinks the price. I have only seen one in the wild, and current the Apple watch section in Apple stores is always dead.

I see a trend happening in Macrumors, people are becoming more critical of Tim Cook and skeptical of the path Apple is taking. If 2nd generation isn't a jaw dropper, then someone should get the boot!
You see a trend on MacRumors. That's the first problem with your post. This site is faaaaaar from an Apple enthusiast site. It is nothing of the sort. People here will hate on anything.

For me better be waterproof so I can use to track my swimming. If not I'll pass. To be honest, I don't think I even use it besides for working out.
I am not really that much into the watch. What I would love is sort of thin band to track activities like the Nike Fuel band but unfortunately Apple won't go that route.

I'm hoping that by typing here and saying I'm not buying the next watch it will work. I don't want to buy the next watch but I'm curious to see what it will include. If these start coming out yearly they are going to need a program like the one for the phone so I can pay $5-10 a month and trade in each year.

But but... Steve would never make a watch without 2 GB of RAM.

This thing needs a file system to be productive!

This toy needs a USB port!

If it can't run OS X and full apps then it's a failure of a watch!

Am I MacRumoring right?

Mia:

It's not clear.....

Only 1 GB....pass

Will SAFARI be snappier on it ?
Will it go faster than 5400rpm?
I'd rather have better battery life than a thinner watch.

What about the Mac Mini?

Eddie Cue is cueless
Tim Cook has to be fired

Kuo Ming Jing thing-a-la-ding-
who has a respectable track record issued a release note,
stating that even a broken watch is correct twice a day.

iFixit gives it a repairability score of 0

The next version should be called Swatch, oh wait........

Let me guess....

2016: thinner iWatch. Same crappy battery life. Instead of new features, we get to send more ugly emojis including poo emoji. Still no LTE. Still requires iPhone but now iPhone 5S is off that compatibility list.

What should I do with my gold iWatch? I can't sell it for the same price I got it for!

How many people are going to buy a new watch every year?

As almost everyone who wants an Apple Watch has bought one by now, I question the demand for a new one next year.

My current watch has lasted me for about 30 years and is still going strong. I trust that current Apple Watches will last their owners as long.

I'll buy a new one when this falls apart or becomes useless. And if it becomes useless faster than I think it should, I will stop buying them.

It's funny how people think that the development cycle for electronics is:
R&D
Specify
Implement Test Item
Make it manufacturable
Release
Support
Back to R&D

It's more like:
R&D 1.0
Specify 1.0
R&D 2.0
Implement Test Item 1.0
Specify 2.0
Make it manufacturable 1.0
R&D 3.0
Implement Test Item 2.0
Release 1.0
Make it manufacturable 2.0
Support 1.0
...

Hobbies don't need that junk. /s

I have had no problem with battery life especially if you turn off the activate on wrist raise with a workout of 80 min each day I still have 50% avg battery left

Hmmm....

Take a look a Balmer's record at microsoft..

Also, take a look at when BlackBerry had it's best year. Those guys weren't the winning horses to bet on.

The OEM is developing the Apple Watch??
More like they are giving feedback on manufacturability of a design. It is quite common for a design firm or the primary to get input from the contract manufacturer over mechanical complexity of a design. This can improve build time and part stock.

I get the feeling that there will be a shift in the overall functionality of the watch, my concern is that it will upset many of those who bought first generation watches. Reason being I've read some articles in foreign publications that have posted some leaks. I should have captured the info, but not owning a watch I didn't take it too seriously at the time.

The culmination of what Apple has learned via feedback from owners of gen one, I do think this second version will be much more compelling. Apple's learned a lot and the demand of this new model is bound to be much stronger which is exactly what Apple's looking to accomplish.

Time will tell.

I would bet a lot of money on it being waterproof. I'm developing a tennis app for the watch and came across this page, which lists all of the sports that developers can use to tag third-party workouts. As you can see, swimming, water polo, surfing, etc. are all on the list! :)

I would think June would be a good time-frame for a 2.0 version. I'm sure there are many little adjustments Apple wants to make including making it thinner.
