Wow, note 4 is a centimeter thicker and that makes it cumbersome? Lol.
Point was, note 4 has a bigger screen while not as tall

A cm thicker which is a decent amount, and it also doesnt have tapered edges, which makes a phone feel even skinnier and slimmer; and it is also lighter, the Plus is alot easier to hold in hand and less cumbersome in the pocket and in hand

I agree, its easier to hold

If they're generally the same size at a glance, nobody should be sitting around thinking they're huge compared to other iPhones.

I didn't break out the calipers, but just glancing at them, they appear to be about the same height. Width is different, of course. This likely accounts for the perceptions of hugeness that some people seem to be going on about.

Yes, but the part annoying me is that the area of the bezel is physically larger, so whatever they stuffed behind the bezel on the 5S or 6, they should have been able to stuff behind a shorter bezel on the 6 Plus. By keeping and even slightly increasing the bezel height, we got a phone that is unnecessarily large compared to Android phones that are all screen.

Touch ID works well, but in this case, it's holding us back.

What is exactly important about having smaller bezels and having to give up the functionality of the existing Touch ID to get those bezels smaller?

I don't see Apple having asymmetrical bezels because the symmetrical ones are iconic and who'd give up a look that is recognized all over the world to gain a tiny bit of screen real estate? It's illogical.

I suppose they could trim each one a tiny bit and keep the same design, but I'm sure their team of designers already thought of that and rejected it for some reason that I figure must be functional.

These phones have larger batteries, so that's one thing that is taking up extra room and I'm sure there are others as well.

I'm just not too worried about bezels.

That's the one thing holding me back from a 6+, the fact that there's 6 inch phones out there that are smaller, at least height-wise (and yes, some of these even have fingerprint scanners). Just seems like so much real estate is being wasted.

Not a big deal for me.

I used the LG G3 prior to the 6+, and it was probably the best phone design ever in terms of bezel size.

That said I don't find the 6+ too large, in fact I find the size and heft adds to its premium feel.

I have owned a ton of different phones and not once did I ever care about or even notice bezels... the 6 plus is no different.

I'm guessing you haven't tried to stuff one of these 6 plus's in your jeans? An reduction in phone height of a half inch would make a big difference for me every day. I'd rather they thicken up the phone if they needed extra space at this point.

Putting this in context, the Nexus 6 is nearly identical in screen size to the iPhone 6 Plus, but fits a full 6" screen in the same space.

I put mine in my back pocket every day. I am a girl who is 5'4" and shortys have small pockets. ;)

Sure, it would be easier to cram into a pocket if it was only as tall as a 6, but it's not huge. It's manageable. It's not so unmanageable that I'm wishing it didn't look like an iPhone anymore.
