My AWS will be two years old in July. So far so good. I don't have any scratches on the crystal. In fact I have only one tiny little scratch on the home button. That's it.

I don't baby the watch, and I don't really remove it for many activities. I do take it off while working in the yard/garden. I do that mostly to avoid getting dirt jammed into the mic, but also because I don't want it getting scraped by rocks and tools. I wear my watch while bicycling, hiking, working, chores, sleeping, etc. I do have a desk job, so it's not like I expose it to as many hard/rough surfaces as some jobs would.

I have an iPhone 6 that has a protective display cover that already has a couple of dings, but the watch is fine. I have even knocked the watch into hard surfaces on occasion that I expected to leave a mark. Fortunately they didn't.

Mine will be 2 years old in September. I do have a couple light scratches in crystal, very minor. I have also smacked the crap out of it on more than 1 occasion while working on the bike or something. I don't take it off when I probably should and don't baby it or treat it with kid gloves. To be honest, I am really surprised I haven't broken the crystal on more than 1 occasion. Despite the small scratches after about 18 months of daily use and abuse, it is much more durable than I would have guessed when I first purchased it.

I like this post. Watches are meant to take abuse and it's almost inevitable that you're going to hit it on something. And it's a true testament that the Apple Watch is held up for you, even if it has suffered minor damage. Mine has also held well against dings and dents. Been very pleased with the durability.
