I love the whole upvoting and downvoting in these threads. It's pretty ridiculous to look at all the logical posts that are downvoted. If anything I can come to the conclusion that everything that makes sense is downvoted and all the fanboy garbage is upvoted into oblivion. It's pretty obvious why nobody can stand Apple fanboys. Sometimes I'm ashamed to admit that I also am a fan of Apple because I get lumped in with the idiots.:apple:

...or you could be getting downvoted because you're wrong :D

This would be good for old people. It would be bad for developers. It would boost sales, however, it would increase fragmentation. I would not call it a net negative or positive, just a net zero.

Good for 'old people'? I'm 62 and I will speak for myself. The currant screen size is fine, no reason to change it.

In order to keep the "Retina" claim with a 300DPI linear resolution, the largest possible diagonal is 3.84", which according to the DPI calculator site gives us a 3.2" × 2.13" screen.

I was thinking alone the same lines, here's a quick mockup i made except i used 3.86 approx and to be honest, I do prefer the current phone size with a larger screen rather than a bigger phone all together. I personally like it the way it is however.

I know it is a rumor site but please stay serious. It has a reason why the iPhone has this size. It is the best size for a smartphone, ... why should they change it?

Also those mini Ipad rumors are also useless ...

I have both an iPad and an iPhone 4. The line between the two and the niche they each fill is very close for me personally. I feel like a bigger iPhone screen would only blurr that line and move it closer together. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, but the point I am trying to make is I don't believe Apple would necessarily want to do that. I know if I had a gigantic screen iPhone I would have probably thought twice about buying an iPad.

I don't believe Apple will cave to the demands for a larger screen....and if they do, I believe it will be within the constraints of the existing iPhone packaging. Just my .02

Why are people so obsessed with size? It's a mobile device meant to fit into a pocket with ease!! 3.5 is just fine, 4 maybe, 4.6?!? Are you kidding?!

It's because these people think size matters and need a large phone to compensate for something that they have.....

Lol says who? Size is about personal preference. Every friend of mine that owns an iPhone said they wish it had the same (or at least bigger than current) screen as my Galaxy Nexus. They wouldn't buy an android for it, but all agreed that the screen on the Nexus is nicer. Obviously everyone is different and some people prefer smaller... hell I thought my BB9700 had a fine screen size...

My point: no such thing as "Best size for a smartphone".

You have problems with your masculinity?

If he's got spare room in his pockets perhaps he needs a bigger phone to make up for something else not consuming very much space at all ;)

personally I think they should make the phone smaller for the opposing reason :p

Slightly bigger screen, same chassis size?

I think it's possible to make the actual screen bigger without increasing the height and width of the iPhone much.
The screen could be expanded to fill up the bezel, so it's more or less edge-to-edge.

Of course, one reason for a bigger screen would be to allow for a bigger overall iPhone.
And a bigger iPhone could hold a bigger battery. The new iPad has 70% greater
battery capacity, in part due to the demands of LTE...

Definitely, Apple needs to be more competitive. Since the only three phones they make are #1, #2, and #3 in overall sales. Definitely screwing something up.

Wow.

By "selling so well", you mean selling less than a 2.5 year old iPhone 3GS. Gotcha. Well, at least we're on the same page now.

Again... wow.

The geeks on this board continue to amaze me with their complete detachment from reality.

You are comparing the sales of an expensive new phone against a much cheaper old 3GS which you can get free on contract now? You're the one detached from reality and when Apple starts to lose sales and market share over the next few years every non-Apple smartphone user is going to ram it down your arrogant, conceited throat. I love all things Apple but I can see why so many people hate Apple users with a passion.

Hehe it's pretty funny how the "next new thing" is to say that the 3gs is free now, conveniently ignoring the free and bogo Android phones that have been offered for the last two years. But no, yeah, the 3gs is successful because it's free hehe :D

It's also beating all of the free Android phones. And the full-price Apple phones are beating the all of the free and full-price Android phones. But cool story.

I bet you're sweating and red-faced right now, aren't you?

I did not know unit sales = market share. I'm pretty sure they don't?

It also says right in the article the total activations for both platforms. At that point iOS had a 65 million unit lead. I'm not sure what you're having troubles with. You said Android surpassed iOS in Q4 and I showed that was incorrect.

my buddy's ex-wife makes $69/hour on the laptop. She has been without a job for 9 months but last month her income was $17376 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Here's the site to read more NuttyRich.com

you had a good run. hehe
