Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
If you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown

Will we see a walking into a glass door emoji anytime soon? Perhaps the employees at Apple should switch to DirecTV.

Yeah these stories with the injuries just don't add up...

Need more details.

Being it’s employee related with injuries, I doubt we will hear more details. However, it’s likely head injury related, but embarrassing. Apple placing signs on the door will help Eliminate that.

Please Macrumors Admin dont squish more than one news pieces together, our discussion becomes a bigger mess than it already is.
[doublepost=1520295768][/doublepost]Xiomi is royally gonna get screwed due to several patent violations and infringements. I say Apple should. belt Xiomi down to the point that it cant get up. And no chinese manufacturer would dare copy designs ever and sell its junk in US.

- Apple Park: Transcript of 911 calls about injuries from walking into glass: Following reports of some Apple employees walking into glass doors at the company's new headquarters, The San Francisco Chronicle obtained transcripts of 911 calls about related injuries via a public records request.
Not sure these incidents required 911 calls. Two of three sound as if just some basic first aid would have done the trick.

Perhaps it is just a here thing but we'd normally manage the cut and bleeding and monitor the patient in the case of a minor head injury.

Yeah, you wouldn't think it would be that big a deal, but surprisingly, when you run smack into something you don't see at all it's pretty darn painful. I did that "invisible wall smack" once at a movie theatre where they had stupidly positioned a glass wall near where you exited the theatre - so here is this invisible wall that you are supposed to notice while squinting as your eyes adjust to much brighter light after you've just walked out of a movie. They changed the design next time I was there, so I'm fairly sure it was a problem for others at well. At any rate, especially for those who are not slow-walkers, I could easily see broken noses, broken glasses, possibly broken fingers or toes, just depending on what part actually hit the glass (if the person also had a good dose of "unlucky" thrown in - so they hit it as just the right angle). Still, 911, even for worst-case scenario like a broken nose does seem a tad excessive...

People keep saying "small town of Sherman, Texas." It's a small town north of a very large town Dallas, Texas. And Dallas has been growing northward for decades until it's becoming confluent with the towns to the north. Finisar intends to draw from the large population pool to its south.

All the FCC has to do is threaten the cell service companies and then the Xiaomi phone stop working.
If you have been following the news, you should probably remember that (at least in this current adminstration) the FCC works in best interest of the telecommunication companies and not the other way around. Over 90% of what we consume in America is manufactured by Chinese companies. It an just a matter of time for them to paint the White House red...

And yet the FCC seems to have been the reason why the supposed Huawei launch on ATT and Verizon were pulled.

Surprised that the US government banned Huawei and ZTE but did not do anything about Xiaomi yet.

Huawei and ZTE are owned in part by the Chinese government. I could be wrong but I don’t think Xiaomi is owned by the Chinese government

Kind of like internet tough guys making judgement on talented people.

Yeah I’d take six figures a year over someone on the internet thinking I’m “tough”

I am glad no employees have been seriously injured (well, not permanently injured as far as we know). However, there is a real lesson to learn from this. Just because something (i.e. clear glass) looks beautiful, it isn't always the best choice from a functional standpoint. I love most Apple products but I HATE the remote for Apple TV. The design is symmetrical so it guarantees that half the time you pick it up in a dark room you will hold it upside down. Sure, it looks nice but it is a poor functional design.

Worrisome enough that the Chinese want to sell us data and telecom infrastructure; but smartphones? Scary. They're probably all bugged...(not like rumors that we've ever done anything like that, of course ;) ).

Yes, I know that many Apple phones are assembled in China. But they know what other foreign companies doing manufacturing there have learned, that they have to push quality control hard if they want to have a reputable product; so it's rather unlikely (IMO) that the company controlling both hardware and software design could be duped in that regard.

I’m incredibly uninterested in Xiaomi’s phones, but I am VERY interested in everything else they make. Hopefully they bring it all here.

They transmit all data about you from their devices to Chinese servers. If you can say bye bye to privacy, they you can use Xiaomi/Chinese products.

Sadly, I wouldn't trust that communist party for anything.
