Could be fun to spread a false fire alarm into Apple Campus... there will be blood :D

I’m incredibly uninterested in Xiaomi’s phones, but I am VERY interested in everything else they make. Hopefully they bring it all here.
I love Xiaomi products.

I bought a Miband originally to replace a faulty fitbit. It had a battery life of over 30 days. I loved it. I tried one of their phones (Redmi Note 2) and loved it. I ended up with an iPhone 5S and sold it. A year later I purchased some other things.

A xiaomi fan, usb charger battery, led light, security camera and recently I purchased a Redmi Note 5A Prime (£100 from aliexpress, global model, so english and Google apps, 3GB Ram and 32GB storage, 16mp front camera with flash, dual sim card and sd card compatible) and case along with an Amazfit Bip (40-50 days battery life, always on screen, barometer, gps, notifications all for £45).

I just returned from China and while I was there found a xiaomi store in a shopping mall in Nanning (5th floor). I picked up some Hi Res audio Pro HD earphones for about £15. Well made, and sound awesome! (made by 1more). The over ear headphones Hi Res compatible were £20 and bluetooth earphones £17. With good marketing they can do really well.

(in Guilin and Nanning, all I saw was Oppo and Honour stores with the odd fake apple store, the xiaomi one was a genuine store and very Apple like, service was great and the products seriously cheap).

Honestly, all the stuff I mentioned cost about £200 in total. That's why xiaomi will do well. Xiaomi products remind me of Muji (in simplicity) and quality wise, they are on the same level as Apple.

So, I have used Apple phone, watch and Xiaomi phone and watch. Both are great to be honest.

People are calling 911 for a small cut? WTH. Surely Apple has an on-site medical person or someone with common sense. Maybe there is a doctor's office nearby if someone is dizzy/unclear.
People WALKED into a door, they didn't run and slammed at full speed into it..

If you have been following the news, you should probably remember that (at least in this current adminstration) the FCC works in best interest of the telecommunication companies and not the other way around. Over 90% of what we consume in America is manufactured by Chinese companies. It an just a matter of time for them to paint the White House red...
Consumer spending in the US (in 2017): 47.5 trillion USD
Goods imports from China (in 2016): 462.6 billion USD

That is 1% instead of 90%. Of course, there are many caveats. For once, consumer spending includes money spend on services (eg, healthcare, phone & cable bills) and housing (which if in the form of rent would be a service) and big ticket items like cars of which there are almost no Chinese imports. One reason for you guessing that 90% figure is that most people massively overweigh discretionary spending and thus tend to exclude recurring costs like healthcare, phone/cable bills, rent, car payments but also food.

Also, one more tidbit from the second link above: "U.S. imports from China account for 21.1% of overall U.S. imports in 2016."

I'm surprised that anyone still thinks solid glass walls and doors are "good design". Maybe they're nice aesthetically, but practically speaking?

(Full disclosure: I've walked into solid-glass walls many times, and not because I wasn't paying attention, but because glass is transparent...)

A few years ago, I’d be bothered by news like this. Now, it doesn’t bother me.
China won.
Nice run you had Apple, Amazon, and Walmart.

I'm sure it's not funny to the people who walked into them but I'm laughing a bit that multiple Apple employees have collided with glass doors.
The cleaning crew are doing a phenomenal job cleaning those glass...just to get even with those higher paid employees.

And also, hard enough to have to call 911? lol how....
Those who are getting hurt are the one who are late for work.

Not sure it matters for Apple if Xiaomi comes to the US. All it does is eat into other Android sales, likely the Samsung and Pixel lines on the higher end. I don't see many who prefer the iOS platform jumping ship for Xiaomi.

hard enough to have to call 911?

Now I’m no masochist by any stretch of the imagination but... that’s the part that’s killing me. Can you picture that in your head? Remember, these are supposed to be some of the smartest people in the world.

“Lahdee dahdee dah...” ...BAM! lol — Too f*ckin’ funny!

interestingly enough, years ago, Don Norman, in The Design of Everyday Things, wrote about the problem with glass doors that have no identifying marks on them. Apple probably got a design award for its new campus as well...

Funny how people in the US say healthcare is expensive. Of course it is when some are ordering ambulances like they order takeout. Just get off your bum and keep walking.
