Hmm didn't even think of that, but I use Atomic as my go-to browser so it's never an issue.

Same here. Thus, the only negative is having Safari open as well (until I manually close it). But it is a small price to pay for the convenience.

Holy ****

iPhoneZA is getting a $10-20 donation from me later today for sure! :D

Great work like this shouldn't go unrewarded...

I've been using this for a few days, it's nice but isn't saving me that much time - I have them all in a folder, and once I get to the folder, open it, select what I want, wait for it it to open safari and then get to the settings it's really not that much quicker than opening the settings app.

I can't praise the developer enough for the effort though, it's a great idea and execution

Oh and when you've done it a few times and realise you have loads of safari windows to close, that's a bit annoying

God I'm ungrateful!

Really? What kind of phone? It should be pretty instant when opening up.

For me it's about 1/2 the time to do a task like accessing the Bluetooth on/off, I just ran a back to back test. Doing it through the old way, it took 6 seconds. With the Bluetooth link, it took 3 from the home screen to opening the folder (where all the settings, including the Settings app, are) to tapping on the Bluetooth icon to it opening up).

I used an app I got free at some point to create icons that doesn't leave a page open in safari.

App is called Touch icon, it lets you pick a picture for the icon, set a url, email, or sms then creates the icon on the home screen to launch that page..without leaving pages open in safari.

Daiig: That works very well and it in fact does not open Safari, so it's a bit faster as well. Also great for creating contact icons for phone calls. Thanks for the suggestion.

well if that works like the other app(s) that do the same thing, Safari doesn't open, but the app that makes the shortcuts does. no?

messy & clumsy compared to real widgets.

but its slightly better than clicking a bunch of menus to get there.

apple need to get their finger out on the widgets front , seriously

hmm Widgets or Better Battery life..

I'll go with the better battery life. :D

No, I just installed it an tested it, and when tapping the newly created icon, it does not open Safari.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I didn't say it would open safari. Does it open the Touch Icon app?

Sorry, misunderstood.

No, it does not open the Touch Icon app.

Once you press the newly created icon, the screen goes black for a split second and then it launches the Settings app in the area you specified. Double tapping the home button to pull up the apps bar confirms that the Touch Icon nor Safari were opened.

interesting. thanks. wonder what happens if you uninstall the app. the iconproject app says the shortcuts will stop working if you remove their app.

Anyone know the path to Settings / Phone / Show My Caller ID? It'd be nice to have a toggle to get to the screen where you turn Caller ID on and off.

Cool! Thanks for sharing!

But I prefer the real SBSettings.....
yeh it looks ok for non-jail-breakers, but it's not even close to the slickness and customization of SBS. There are a lot of things being worked on right now by developers (custom widgets etc) that will be in Cydia. SBS integrates so well with iOS 5.

when you run the created touch icon, you get a quick flash to a black screen then your at the bluetooth or whatever settings. No other app is opened. If you look in your multitask bar you dont see any other app.

It does open Safari, but only for a brief second. If you go to Safari afterwards you will see all the Safari tabs open for the toggles you've used.

No it does not. It opens Safari when you originally create the toggle but afterwards, every time you use it, it does not open Safari.

We're talking about the Touch Icon app now, not the original post.

Thanks daiig! :D

Bought the app Touch Icon Creator today for $0.99 and made my own WiFi, Brightness, Airplane, and Usage shortcuts on my homescreen.

I like Touch Icon Creator more because I can use my own icon images + it doesn't open up extra tab's in safari.

Btw, how is this thread not stickied already???

Totally agree. I love how SBSettings is now in the notification bar.
I wish Apple did something like that.

I actually like these toggles better than SBSettings. I don't like having to reach all the way up to the notification bar every time, I'd rather simply have these buttons on the bottom I can quickly reach...
