Sorry -- image didn't post... Here it is:

Magic,

That image looks like part of the .mac interface. I'm guessing that just like your calendar and address book your book marks will be available via the .mac interface and as such be 'available' to any web browser that you point to .mac...

Dave

Yeah, except it's not part of the current .mac interface anywhere I can find.

iSync and Tungsten C

I lost the ability to sync via WiFi/Airport when I installed 10.2.6 (works fine with via Airport to my ethernet-connected Windows box, though). Be interesting to see if iSync fixes this.

And no, Tungsten Cs are not designed to be used as MP3 players. There is MP3 software for PalmOS5.2, but since the earphone jack on the Tungsten C is monaural, it seems a waste of battery time to use it for that purpose.

Update on the mystery graphic

Just an update -- whatever my mystery image is, Apple has removed it from the page now.

Anyone care to speculate on the feature that was apparently pulled at the last minute that may re-surface again later? 🙂

Based on the stoplight buttons in the upper left corner, I'm thinking standalone .Mac interface of some sort, but that doesn't make too much sense. Maybe something Panther-related? The icons at the top are not in a 'recessed' section like on the current .Mac webmail pages...

Perhaps it's just as simple as a 'bookmark manager' palette intended for iSync 1.1, but then why the Mail, Preferences, and Logout icons?

iSync 1.1 is nowhere in my software update. Quicktime and the bluetooth software were there. I tried to download it from the website but it would never send the file.

3gpp!! wow

I am really excited now about 3gpp export! Do you guys have any idea what that means? For you Symbian OS, cell phone users (nokia 3650), u can export full movies to 3gpp and put them on your phone and watch them! 🙂 i like quicktime alot more , makes things waaay easier now hehe.

Exactly! And what if I want the information on my Palm/Clie to be the master source and use iCal/Address Book as the secondary source? Thus I would want to have Palm/Clie to overwrite iCal/Address Book on every sync.

argh. same here. dunno why...not that it matters really as i dont have any of the phones or an ipod or anything...all i have is a palm w/ out a usb connector so at the moment isync isnt so important...but i would like to be able to get all the relevant updates needed...

Another way? Sure, just copy the file over to Safari I s'pose.

Don't want to derail this thread, but I just don't see the value in .mac. Maybe it's 'cause I already have server space for myself. And it feels like Apple is forcing value onto the .mac thing when they restrict iSync's abilities to .mac users.

OK. I'm done...

I guess you are right.
I discontinued .Mac for two months after Apple started charging for it.
But later I went back and signed up again, souly because I needed a bigger place to put my website on.

Palm Conduit

*I* would also like to see a Palm conduit option to overwrite iCal / Address Book with the Palm's contents.

There is at least one good reason I can think of: Since you cannot sync the Palm with multiple desktops very cleanly, it can be convenient to setup conduits to be read-only on some machines.

I also had this, I downloaded it from the website.

Perhaps Apple are trying to reduce server load by staggering it.

Bluetooth gone!

I updated to bluetooth 1.2.1, all went well, and then a horrible horrible thing happened...

Looking at the preferences the "show bluetooth status in menubar" check wasn't checked, but the status was in the menu bar (always has been), so I checked it, and the status dissapeared! 😱

So I unchecked it...still gone.

Checked it again...not back

What to do?!

Try this: Under the 'Devices' menu, choose 'Reset All Devices...' It will ask what device to use in the resetting. If you choose your Palm, you should be able to achieve the effect you describe.

Good luck! 🙂

MPEG-2 v6.3

Is anyone else having trouble updating the Quicktime mpeg-2 component to the version 6.3? It doesn't show up in my software update...

Here I go again, feeling like I'm derailing this thread... But i gotta ask, can you play MP3's on your Tungsten C? Just checked it out at Palm's site and didn't see any blatant headers about MP3 capability.

Thanks!

Good thought about MP3 capability, but as stated above, there's no stereo out, so what's the point of having them. I already have an iPod, so I wasn't too upset about about the lack of an MP3 player.

Cheers.😉

Motorola T720 and iSync 1.1

Now I gotta get a cheap USB cord....(damn, no bluetooth...)

DreaminDirector: Let us know how your T720 and iSync work out. Judging from posts on other fora (e.g. MacNN, HowardForums, Apple Support Forums), USB-sync with the T720 is not working. 🙁

how do you use a usb cable to sync a non-bluetooth phone? i have a moto c331t and it would be really useful....
also, if the isync update isnt in my software update, where is the website address to dl it?

Check out http://www.mac.com/1/learningcenter/ Looks like it could be part of Anywhere Access (coming soon).

Macromedia flash problem

I downloaded and installed QT6.3 and now QT took over the flash player in Safari. I go to flash sites and QT is running the files instead of flash plugin. anyone else experiencing this? solution?

Screwed up My iTunes Library!

ARGH!

After updating, 307 tracks from my iTunes library were erased.

ERASED!!! 😡

It wasn't as though they were the last 307 tracks that I put into iTunes, they were taken - seemingly randomly - from all over my iTunes Library. And of course, I hadn't done a backup for a while.... 🙁

Thank heavens I still have them on my iPod. Now I have to get "iPod.iTunes" to do a re-sync....

Self-reminder for the next update: Back everything up beforehand!!
