I can imagine the iPhone 6S intro videos from Apple execs:

"We've introduced a new technology called Radiate. It gives every user a high dose of radiation. It's simple, when everyone has cancer we are that much closer to finding a cure. It's going to be singlehandedly the biggest release of cancer of all time. This will rush in a plume of innovation in cancer research and cures''

I figure your joking, but its worth noting that the iPhone, smartphones in general, don't produce caner causing radiation, RF energy is non-ionizing radiation.

It can excite water molecules, generate heat, cause burns. But it doesn't displace electrons, which damages DNA and causes cancer.

I am not saying that there isn't a nefarious issue with this, but maybe an engineer could help this discussion.

I read the linked article. Here is the crux of his argument:

The SAR standard was developed to protect users only from the acute effects of the heat generated by microwave radiation (i.e., the thermal effect). (5) The SAR limit does not protect users from non-thermal effects of cell phone radiation.

Apparently, there isn't a question whether high amplitude microwave radiation can cause organic damage due to thermal effects. The questions is whether the low amplitude microwave radiation that is within acceptable thermal damage range can cause any other damage.

Microwave radiation is non-inonizing, and it has a lower frequency/longer wavelength than visible light or infrared, so assuming I was able to protect myself from the thermal damage, wouldn't I be under a greater level of risk for non-thermal deleterious effects under a strong desk lamp?

Again, I'm not saying the government or businesses don't lie to the public, they lie all the time, but there is also a lot of bogus information too.

This doesn't add up, so hopefully someone could clarify.

Maybe so when this person does want to make or receive calls they can? Maybe the 6+ is serving as a quasi tablet and the 128gb is for media?

I am the voice of reason/common sense on these forums. She said she talks at most 2 times a month..for that, you don't need a phone.

Why you rolling your eyes at me? You think it's normal to buy a phone, pay for not only the phone but a calling plan that you don't use?

snap to reality..if not using as a phone, don't buy a phone. Of course people ulitmaltely will do what they want..sometimes they just need the voice of reason

Think people just come on this forum to post idiotic "concerns" in hope to make Apple look bad. It's obvious after the non-issue #Bendgate has become a thing that tech blogs scour these forums.

This just isn't a concern for YOU (and me for that matter).

It's a concern for many however I mean come on not only does this pop up from time to time since the original iPhone but there are regulations in place and have been for quite some time.

In what world do you live where under the legal limit is considered "off the charts"? Just tighten the tinfoil hat and you'll be fine.

It's funny when people worry about this kind of stuff, yet have no problems eating fast food 3-4 times a week and don't exercise, which is profoundly more harmful.

This is easily the post of the year for macrumors.

off the charts compared to competitors. don't need to hang on every single word here. the point is the SAR levels are pretty high.

You are so kind if the world only had more super people like yourself in it :(

You don't think the population density is getting a little high? Look around. We're going to need a bigger planet or a lower population soon. Apple is just trying to help keep the population in check. Don't feel that this is about you personally. No one knows who you are.

derp.

I am sure many people are in this situation as well. I would say I do not talk on the phone more than 5 times a month. Should I not have an iPhone as well? By your logic, it makes absolutely no sense for me, or anyone in my family to be paying for our phones.

Some voice of reason. Ignorant much? Oh right, I forgot. Not everyone is like you.

Snap to reality, as I am sure you have undoubtedly noticed many people prefer to text rather than call nowadays. As a function of this, it should not be surprising at all that the amount of time people actually spend talking and placing calls on the phone has surely gone down. More for some than others, but gone down regardless.

I would however agree that at the end of the day, everyone's got different needs.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

As I'm sure you've noticed, many people also prefer to text, rather than call.

Correct.

My son is 9 yrs old (has ipod touch). He can text and facetime and Tango if he needs to communicate with someone outside apple world.

You should probably get the touch, you'd save a ton..

seriously chill out with the conspiracy theory on people coming here to make apple look bad. geez.. this is data from the FCC on the levels it emits and it's right there near the limit. not a concern to you but i know a lot that are concerned.

Maybe this radiation is what is forcing me to buy more Apple products.

Anyone think of that?

So how do I use an iPod Touch to communicate when I'm out and don't have WiFi accessible?

If my wife had an emergency and needed to call me, do I have to hope I'm near a McDonald's or Starbucks? What about in my car?

I think you're over-generalizing a bit.

Derp. Think about that for a moment, and get back to me.

There are countless situations in which a phone would be invaluable next to an iTouch. Countless.

Get a cheap dumb phone for your emegrency calls, and get an ipad

Is it really that bad of a thing?..?

great make a story out of it, make a big news deal. Apple will push out an update turning all the radios down to appease and then everyone can complain they can't get a signal

round and round we go where it stops nobody knows

i use speaker phone when ever possible and FaceTime mostly but I do carry iPhone next to my balls. Is this why my pee is hot?
