Derp. Think about that for a moment, and get back to me.

There are countless situations in which a phone would be invaluable next to an iTouch. Countless.

You're spending a heck of a lot to make 5 calls or less a month. I'll respond to you like the other person.

If you want your phone for the 2 times a month someone calls you, buy a cheap dumb phone (you can get them for free with upgrade) and buy an ipad for your data needs.

"Radiofrequency energy is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation can be categorized into two types: ionizing (e.g., x-rays, radon, and cosmic rays) and non-ionizing (e.g., radiofrequency and extremely low-frequency or power frequency).

Exposure to ionizing radiation, such as from radiation therapy, is known to increase the risk of cancer. However, although many studies have examined the potential health effects of non-ionizing radiation from radar, microwave ovens, and other sources, there is currently no consistent evidence that non-ionizing radiation increases cancer risk (1).

The only known biological effect of radiofrequency energy is heating. The ability of microwave ovens to heat food is one example of this effect of radiofrequency energy. Radiofrequency exposure from cell phone use does cause heating; however, it is not sufficient to measurably increase body temperature."

yes listen to them, and don't forget to get some really big pockets

So a friend of mine wants the new iphone6 and wanted to know about the SAR rating for the phone first. I went and checked for him and was shocked that it's so high when all radios are turned on. The legal limit is 1.6 and the iphone6 is 1.59. yikes. Anyone concerned with this? Get your aluminum hats on.

Misleading, it has that high of a SAR count when all radios are on, how likely are you going to have (wi-fi, bluetooth, others on all at once?) not that often.

i would say one usually has cell and wifi on all the time. these are probably the biggest emitters. i'm wondering how much bluetooth emits.

No worries here, I'm almost done with the faraday cage I've been installing in my body for this very reason. Well, also time travel.

And in other news, many phones are >1.5

For example, Samsung Galaxy S5....1.58W/kg

I love my iPhone 6 so far.

On a side note, I now have Kuato on my right thigh.
Totally not related, I'm sure.

Nope. I never talk on the phone - maybe twice a month, if that. I don't carry phone in my pocket. So, no.

Same here. I rarely hold it to my head. In the car it's Bluetooth. In my office it's speaker phone unless I use my jawbone.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of holding ANY cellphone to my head for extended periods of usage. It might be safe long term.. but it might not.

To be fair, legal does not necessarily imply acceptable.

This is very true. It's a rating of safe distance. In the EU the ratings are a lot more lenient, and in other countries it doesn't exist at all.

In the US it's safe for employees to be exposed to <10 ppm of CO for an 8 hour period every day at their place of work. Legal? Yes, safe? Of course not.

Debating over the safe amount of radiation is silly, 0 is better then >0 regardless of whether it's proven to cause ill health effects.

Also, power emitted =/= signal strength and call quality. A good antenna design is better then a higher powered poor antenna design. Not saying it's a poor design just pointing that out.

No, since if you have zero, you don't have a phone, or internet. In what way is that better?

Get a cheap dumb phone for your emegrency calls, and get an ipad

I also pay for my whole house but am only there ~12 hours a day. Guess I should rent an hourly room. :)

But if it makes you feel better, I'll say you "win". In case that's what you're after.

Think people just come on this forum to post idiotic "concerns" in hope to make Apple look bad. It's obvious after the non-issue #Bendgate has become a thing that tech blogs scour these forums.

That's what the inventor of the x-ray machine said to his assistant when she asked if it was safe.

Debating over the safe amount isn't silly in the slightest. It's absolutely essential to determining what's acceptable for a mobile telecommunications device.

In the case of something like lead, for instance, it's been proven that there is no safe level of exposure -- it's always harmful.

But with non-ionizing radiation like RF, scientists have as of yet been unable to prove that it has any impact on cancer rates or tumor growth, probably because it lacks sufficient energy to damage DNA. Read more on the subject here: http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phones

It's also worth noting that the rated SAR level for cellular phone is only the *maximum* it will put out. If you've got your iPhone in your pocket and it's idling, your average RF exposure is nowhere near the maximum, and may be similar to other phones.

Try rereading that. Lol

I said a radiation of level 0 is better then >0.

You are adding the phone bit.

Wow, really? All that for something we basically agree on?

Less radiation is better for the human body then more radiation is all I said.

Horrible analogy. You need your house to live in for the 12 hours you are there..assuming you have family, they need a place to go as well.

How can you compare paying for a mortgage to paying for a phone you don't use? I already gave the solution for the phone..cheap dumb phone and ipad.

Not looking to "win" as you call it..just doing my best to keep the forum a place where some common sense prevails
