I would just call your local store. They may have a good idea by now.

Just got off the phone with my local Radio Shack. Clerk told me that they actually have extra 4S's, but their "district manager was going to be taking them". He told me that I could just preorder and I could get one no problem. I then asked if I would be able to get one by tomorrow, and he said I could only get the 16gb tomorrow, then retracted that and said I would have to wait until next week... I then asked about the mysterious 4S district manager situation, and he said "I'm not sure what he's going to do with them, seems like he's trying to make it so they only way to get a 4S is to preorder."

Huh?? I then said I'd be willing to preorder NOW for one of the extra's that they have, but he said I'd have to wait until next week...

I don't want to get anyone in trouble, I just would love to be able to avoid the Apple Store lines and get in on one of their extra 4S's.

radio shack call me that they have it tomorrow i need to pick up by 9:30 to 10:30 to pick up it

No no , I completely understand, At radioshack a lot of times the Disctrict Managers take on the role of redistributing merchandise to different stores, especially for a big launch or something like this. I was thinking more that he may be foreseeing more sales at one location than another so he arranged to move them, but having a contact in the D.M. can only be a good thing for you. I only mentioned the 1800 the shack phone number in case you didn't want to call your local RAdioshack to get the district office number.:)

I ordered my 16g from Target (so I get 5% off) which is run by RS. I just spoke to the Rep, my phone is already at the store waiting for me.

So every Radioshack should have the iPhone's tomorrow. For some reason, every Shack in my district received their iPhones except mine. A store 5 minutes away from mine received 31 iPhones. My store should receive them at 7:45 AM tomorrow before opening at 9.

But from the looks of it, every Shack will have the iPhone 4S tomorrow. 16/32GB, black/white.

With some extras. Just incase you can't get one at Apple or w/e, check the Shack.

See, define Preorder. I worked for RadioShack last year for the iPhone 4 launch and it was a sales person's nightmare. RadioShack never once told their employees that a preorder didn't mean a guarantee. I wouldn't be surprised if this happend again this year. Basically what it was last year was Apple gave htem so many tickets, like 3k or something tiny. Once the tickets were used, the other people were SOL. PLUS, even if you had a ticket number, you still weren't guaranteed to get an i4 on launch day. It was horrible. I hated telling customers that I unknowingly lied to them.

how was your commission on those phone sales? did you even get any SPIFFs with it or?

This info is really interpretable in various ways, but thought i would share for anyone hoping to snag a 4s without a pre-order at Radioshack. The biggest store in New Orleans (Canal St.) downtown, has a total of 5 phones not accounted for by pre-orders. Take it how you will, this isn't something from a customer asking a question of an employee, The manager is a friend and when he stop tooking pre-orders called me to let me know how much were left after accounting for pre-orders. I don't know how this reflects on other stores across the country, but knowing they are a huge store id say expect small numbers at all locations.

----------

ALso to the OP is what i just posted in contrast to your store, or does it line up pretty well with yall's stock?

We received 4 iPhone 4S' that weren't preordered. We also received all the preorders, about 10. At 9:15 AM. I was looking around the district, some stores only got 1. It depends on location. The bigger stores, like Key West received about 40+ iPhone's.

It's funny, people making lines at Apple, AT&T.. Didn't even know the Shack at iPhone's.. And it's been dead.

I preordered last Saturday and called today to find out they don't have mine. One white 16gb and one white 32gb. Very pissed off. They're not sure if they'll have it Monday or Wednesday, but I already paid for 2x $50 gift cards and seem to be getting completely screwed over.

Weird. Every Radioshack should of received their iPhones either yesterday or today. Every Radioshack in my area had the phones. Unless they sold your phones somehow. It's even in the top stories, if shipment for the 4S wasn't received on Thursday then Friday morning. I'm hearing some special deliveries tomorrow as well. So call back tomorrow.

Thats messed up, I am sorry that happened. I would venture to say the chances are high that someone sold it mistakingly, or held it for a friend or something like that. I encourage you to speak with the manager, or DM if you don't get your answers there. People take that advice wrong sometimes, I am not saying start a fight or get someone in trouble, However Communication is key and many times these things don't make it to the people that manner, and therefore they can't rectify it for you.

I agree from everything I've heard every pre-order was taken care of at all stores in the my district and the surrounding ones. district, granted there were not many extras available, but pre-orders were treated with a high priority.

I just experienced the debacle djcraze mentioned happened last year at his Radio Shack. I pre-ordered a 4S at the Radio Shack on Polk St. in San Francisco this weekend. They called me Thursday to schedule a time for me to come in and pick up the phone today (Fri). I come in at that time and they hadn't received their 4S's yet, they said FedEx screwed up. It would've been nice of them to tell me the appointment was cancelled before I made the trip in.

Then they call me later in the afternoon to tell me to come in, that they have my phone. I specifically ask them if they have the white 32gb phone I ordered on hold for me, they say yes. So I come in again and they tell me they have my phone, and to wait until they take care of the two customers in front of me. I wait a while, only for them to tell me they ran out of the white 32gb model, but want to give me a black 32gb which I can then exchange when they get white models in again.

It's retarded how poorly they've managed this launch. I also heard them charging other customers an $18 upgrade fee. When they eventually get my phone in I'll tell them to waive that fee or else cancel my pre-order, these retards don't deserve my business.

I had the same debacle at the Radio Shack in Clermont, FL. I preordered a black 32GB 4S and was told it would be in this morning. It never showed up despite the number of shipments they received today. They said they may get it in tmmw morning. I wrote an email to RS online but don't have much hope they will respond.

This will be the last time I buy anything from Radio Shack and I'll be sure to let others know to avoid Radio Shack too. What a joke.

Hey Rotary,

May I ask you a question. I picked up a 16gig 4s today and really have decided I want a 32. I havent used the phone at all. The plastic is still on the phone. Actaully I didnt open the box. The store clerk did. I called the store to see if I could exchange it for a 32 when they get some in and they said "no" and that if I want a 32gig I would have to pay full price. Im pretty sure this cannot be the policy of Radio Shack. Is it? Im going to call a different store in the morning but I was wondering what you thought?

Thanks.

Everyone charges an $18 upgrade fee wherever you go. It's added onto your next bill. Radioshack delivered their promise to me perfectly.

You can return the phone and get your money back within 30 days. But you can't just "swap" the phones. You're going to have to take it back, get a refund, wait a few days for the upgrade to go back to the line, and then either try and find the phone at another store (or that one) then.

Ya.

I remember the last time I went in Radio shack, the associate insisted that I could not do a cross upgrade, as in, using another line on the family plan to upgrade and get a smartphone.

I called the ATT rep, listened to her tell me that I could obviously do that (did it multiple times before) and proceeded to tell the rep. Of course she still insisted that it wasn't possible.

But that was like, 3 months ago, and I wanted to try out a Focus for a while :)

Like someone else said, you have 30 days. Make sure you keep all the packaging and receipt. Read the receipt. It clearly says you have 30 days from the date of purchase. They CANNOT tell you no. If they do it's because that person does not want to go through the hassle of swapping the phone out for another. If this is the case, call customer service and tell them what store is not letting you swap your phone. Customers always win.

You can use the phone within those 30 days. And it doesn't have to be sealed.

Thanks so much Rotary. I really do appreciate your time.

You can swap? I always thought they could only return and check out a new one.

To the OP, I would highly suggest you actually call them or read the terms of service before you go in demanding they do things a certain way; there's a 35 dollar restocking fee and the upgrade has to be processed, they can't just hit a few buttons and swap you willy nilly, at least from my experiences they can't.

If that were the case, people would just walk in and swap phones every 5 days, which they aren't going to let happen.

Go to their site and READ the terms of service, that's why it's there, so you get the EXACT ANSWER instead of people telling you two different things.

Or you could just wing it, it's your choice.

Yes, you can swap how many times you want within those 30 days. Most stores will not let you after the first but you can actually. No fees. And if they say no, call the district manager. The number is always in front of each register. You have to be in those 30 days, have all the original packaging, and the original receipt. The phone must also look brand new.

Oh ok, well thank you for the clarification; I mainly knew only about the returns and whatnot, as that's what I always did: just take the phone back and not immediately get something else then.

Np. Radioshack's return policy is one of the most lenient I've seen. And trust me, every associate would rather swap the phone than return it. Mainly because of commission loss.
