Being as we are currently about 12-14" below normal rainfall for the year here in Chicago, I'm mildly jealous of your rain. We've had many cloudy days, but no real rain-makers recently. It's like there's a big wedge over Chicago directing all rain either north or south of us.

We put in new landscaping this spring, and my water bills this summer were outrageous, but cheaper than replacing all those bushes and trees.

Its still pouring here in CT heading towards 9 days. :(

I know! I was driving home from work today around 10:00pm and nearing my house, the roads were almost entirely flooded. The storm drains were over flowing. Many times when I was driving, water was spraying up from both sides of my car. The roads are really bad now. For the past few hours here, it is raining like it would durring a short severe thunderstorm. It is crazy.

I just found this article.

Mudslide in CT

I took a picture of my flooded driveway, I took the picture as best I could at 11:30 at night. The lamp post right in the middle of the flood is burnt out.

Anyways, I threw the picture into pShop and tried to enhance it a little.
Here it is.

:D i love the labels!

Just working on my poor photoshop skills and testing it out. I got it from a friend who work for adobe.

I just saw on the Weather Channel that Central Park in NYC has seen 13.90" of rain from October 1 through October 14th.

I feel for you folks in NYC and the Northeast... no one should have to endure THAT much rain. It's stuff like that that stopped me from moving to Seattle (when I was there temporarily from Nov 1998 - Mar 1999, it rained EVERY SINGLE DAY for the entire five months).

It just started really raining in RI today, after 7 days of misty wetness.

I wish it was snow :(

me too! They say 1" of rain = 10" of snow

Water is starting to make the basement floor damp now... sump pump going full blast... yuck. Looks like yet another time I'm glad I was too lazy to finish the basement....

As a result of the relentless rain, certain communities in New Jersey that are close to the Ramapo River have been devastated. The frequent rain that falls throughout the Pacific Northwest contributes to the lush greenery, but five months with some level of daily rain is beyond the tolerance level of most. I give credit to all those PN residents who cope with it.

Of course, the most devasting consequence is the ruination of many homes, and then it also plays havoc with one's mindset. Fortunately, improvement is now being noticed in NYC.

WTH? Are you serious? When were you here? Come for July, August and September. We reached 98 degrees this year. Its all just rumors and now your spreading it more. :(

;)

Seattle's wet reputation

Over the course of a typical year, Seattle receives 36 inches of rain, which is less than what NYC receives. The Pacific Northwest has many more days with the light drizzle and mist, but they are hardly the wettest place around.

Well after at least a week of rain here it has fineally stopped and its party sunny outside.

Today when I was getting gas I saw the towns Fire Rescue trucks ( Ford F-550) was getting gas. The guy said that all night they were pumping water out of basements and a few first floors.

In Delaware it has been raining for a week or so also. I wake up today and its sunny and very warm. 80 degrees in the middle of October after a dreary week seems strange.

Officials said Connecticut avoided major flooding because of a drought over the summer that led to rain deficits of 14 inches over the past several months.

Hartford got a record 5.26 inches of rain on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

This is already the wettest October on record for Connecticut. The National Weather Service says the previous record was 11.61 inches in 1955. Hartford had 12.77 inches as of Friday.

This is also the fourth-wettest month since the National Weather Service started keeping records for Hartford a century ago.

I'm jealous. I have some assignments to write and there's nothing better than having rain on a tin roof as I tap away on my Mac for hours on end.
Record the apping of your fleet fingers on the keys, bring it into Garageband and loop it, that'll make a reasonable simulation of precipitation on a hot tin roof...

With my typing... Well, it kinda sounds like the laziest rain ever. A nice big, heavy drop every four or five seconds. :p
