You see this yesterday?

During the Vikings-Packers game, Randy Moss pretended to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay fans.

What a jackass. I hope he gets suspended for this weekend's game, in addition to any fine he receives.

Honestly, I think people are making too big a deal out of this... Joe Buck went over the top when he was announcing the game- I'm more offended by those cialis commercials than this...lol... Or how about Brett Favre & his latest act of random stupidity & than laughing about it ?... I was more offended by that... C'mon Brett, take one for the team, lower your shoulder & get that 1st down ... Buck thought that was the greatest thing in the world though... Don't get me wrong, I strongly dislike Randy Moss, & his ilk, & see 1st hand the effect they have on HS kids playing football- as a football coach this is a huge problem for us... But when everyone sees the medias Golden Boy bail out on a play in a BIG game, that's a problem too, yet no one ever mentions it...I don't get it... & please don't think I'm downplaying Favre's career- he's a hall of famer- but he hasn't given a damn about the game since '99- yet no matter what he does no one says a word...

Culpepper and the Vikes will get their roll on and beat the Eagles in a close, hard fought game. 'Nuff said.

Eagles will destroy this Viking team !!!... Just because the Vikings sat back & let an overrated Packer team & ,Favre in particular, beat themselves doesn't mean they're ready for a rested & healthy (TO being the exception) Eagle team... Eagles in a laugher...

They say the Packers fans line up and moon the opposing team after a win. So this was simply a "you loss" moon. GO RANDY GO.

Brett farve is living on past greatness.

FWIW, I'd take Donavan over Daunte too. But I'd rather have Brady than either of them. As far as Peyton goes... I'm a Dawg fan, so his years at Tennessee cloud my thinking. He never beat Florida, never won the national championship. Looks like now that NE is his Florida. Records, yes. Championships, no. I'll take Brady and Belichek over Peyton and Dungy.

As far as Eagles/Vikings... doesn't matter. The AFC clearly has the dominant teams this year. NE, Pit, Colts, Jets are all better than anything the NFC has this year, especially now that TO is out for the Eagles.

MacDawg, I agree with your second part. I don't see the NFC as having a team that can beat either NE, Indy or the Steelers. I think this matchup this weekend will be the SuperBowl. However, Peyton's "years at TN" are in the past. His work ethic, skills, maturity and highly skilled personnel scattered over various key positions will make for a great challenge to NE's experience and maturity. I'm not generally an AFC fan, but I like either NE, Indy or Pitt. to take it all this year. I do think that the Eagles will put away Moss and Co., moons or no moons.

For the record I was not offended by the celebration. I thought it should have drawn a flag for excessive celebration but I don't necessarily deem it fine worthy, it is not nearly as bad as TO's cell phone and autograph stunts.

Horn pulled out the cell phone.

Not to speak ill of the dead, but I'm not sure I'd use White as my model of a "great person."

"Famed Green Bay Packers defensive end Reggie White stepped into controversy a year ago (1998) with his speech to the Wisconsin Legislature in which he called homosexuality a sin and said blacks like to dance, Asians could "turn a television into a watch," Hispanics knew how to put 20 or 30 people under the same roof, and whites were good at making money.

Then he appeared in a national newspaper advertisement and taped a commercial against same-sex 'marriages.' "

yeah, and everyone else in the world hasn't said something racist once. and for same sex marriages, I happen to disagree, but i can't blame him for being dedicated to his religion. He was a minister, and thats generally a catholic view. Were still in the minority anyway, and he's in the majority, as the presidential election shows.

I don't know... i just don't think it was that bad. I don't think it was that funny, but for goodness' sake he *pretended* to engage in what is itself a mildy offensive act. I just don't see mooning as that harmful - it's crass, a bit funny, and rather tasteless. And Moss only mimed actually doing it.
But he didn't need to. It was potentially shocking, and wasn't necessary. Add this incident to walking off early, and its just adding more insult to his reputation.

As a *group* Indy's guys are clearly the best. But first, they also have the best QB in football throwing to them so they look a lot better than they would with Trent Dilfer in the pocket. And second, as individuals, they can't compare to Moss (except Marvin, who is clearly among the best as well, though not quite on the same level for the reasons I went in to earlier).

But its a team game. This isn't a "give one guy the ball and tell him to win" Finding players to work together is what the games supposed to be about. this isn't like baseball where one guy has his hand on the ball at a time. this isn't basketball where one guy can win the game by scoring 50 points. If one player, no matter who he is, blows his job, (if a lineman misses a block, if a receiver drops the ball) you can cost your team the entire game.
Ill take 2 alright players any day over 1 star, especially a a star with the worst attitude in the NFL.

And to tie it all up, Fox are reporting that Randy's been given a $10,000 fine - double what Plummer got for giving the Broncos' fans the finger earlier in the season.

The Joe Buck stops here. :D

This is the real atrocity. Give me a break. So pretending to moon is worse than giving the finger? I just don't get it.

Yep. Like I said, people are making way too big a deal out of this. Get a life and try not being so easily offended and hyper-sensitive.

And his comments show that fines mean nothing to some of these players since they are paid so much, both in salary and endorsements.

The owners are so greedy that they will never remove a player for bad sportsmanship. It affects their wallets too deeply.

Actually, Mariucci suspended Terrell Owens after his first public celebration of dissing the Cowboys star after a TD - and getting an opposition player tossed out of the game. I can't recall if the league also fined him but Mooch suspended him for the next game...

...and it had just about as much effect as losing $10K given he went on to get worse and worse and Mooch got fired

How about removing the fans that moon'd the team first. If you don't like what's going on, then don't watch it. I thought it was just was the Packer fans deserved.

Hockey's on strike, Basketball has in the stands brawls, Baseball's got half the players on juice.

If football's biggest problem right now is that Moss pretended to moon some fans, then the sport's in pretty good shape.

There is also the problem of a lot of players being convicted of serious crimes. Somewhere these problems have to be fixed. Baseball has made a start with one year mandatory drug testing, along with year wound voluntary testing. It also has teeth first offense suspension for ten days, second it's for a year.

Here is another thought on this situation about Randy, an employee. How many of you could go to your place of employment and do a fake mooning and still have a job.

Guess it depends how important I was to the company. If I was the top salesperson or developer, then I imagine I'd get a lot more leeway than if I was the tea lady,

Actually...
A first positive test would result in a penalty of 10 days, a second positive test in a 30-day ban, a third positive in a 60-day penalty, and a fourth positive test in a one-year ban -- all without pay. A player who tests positive a fifth time would be subject to discipline determined by the commissioner.
ESPN Story

And what's your point? This is a start? The NFL is years ahead of them with a much stricter policy than MLB. What do steriods have to with pretend mooning?

Does that really apply here? How many people can go play football in the office and still have a job? How many people can tackle the competition and still have a job?
