Phones I liked the most from top to bottom:

iPhone 13 Pro Max 256gb (awesome battery!)
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 128gb (huge display & great space zoom!)
iPhone 12 Pro 128gb (should have brought MAX instead)
iPhone X 256gb (great compact but no night mode as I learned later)
LG G4 32gb (best compact with wide screen until fatal bootloop killed it)

Phones as hobby in no order:

iPhone 6S (had fun playing around with beta from iOS 13 to iOS 15.7)
iPhone 6+ (got it 2 months ago just for fun)
iPhone SE (small but runs great on iOS 14.8.1- screen too tiny for my old eyes now)

I inherited my first smartphone, and it was an iPhone 4. Shortly after, I bought for the first time my own iPhone:

- iPhone 4S (one of the best devices I’ve ever had)
- Motorola MotoG first gen (manufactured by Google)
- iPhone SE (awesome device)
- iPhone 8 (my current smartphone)

1. iPhone 6s (first iPhone with Touch ID, felt like a huge upgrade from my 5c)
2. iPhone 11 (camera felt like a huge upgrade from my 8)
3. iPhone 12 (slightly more compact version of the 11, 5G was nice)
4. iPhone 5c (it was green!)
5. iPhone 8 (didn’t really wow me coming from a 6s - felt like the same phone)
6. iPhone 4S (good design, I think how the performance of this once tanked with software updates taints this one for me)
7. iPhone 3GS (maybe it should get points for being my first iPhone, but looking back I just remember the low res screen and the poor battery life).

1. iPhone 5 (my first iPhone after using Blackberry for years, have always been an Apple fan so I'll always remember getting my first iPhone haha)

2. LG Optimus One (my first smartphone that was fully touch, went back to various Blackberry phones since I couldn't stand Android, I also recently got the iPad 2 as my first iOS device so didn't care too much about having access to Android vs Blackberry OS. I also used BBM a lot)

2. iPhone 12 mini (tech wise I prefer the 13, but I had the 12 in black and much prefer that. I got the 13 in pink since it was subtle and don't mind it, but would prefer black again. The two phones are so close I guess they can both take 2nd place. I now prefer much smaller phones after using the Plus line through to the 7)

2. iPhone 13 mini (I would put this as #1 if I were looking at the phone itself, but the 5 and the LG will always have a special place in my heart being the first iPhone/smartphone)

3. iPhone 6 Plus (mine and Apple's first truly large phone, the jump in size was so noticeable that I couldn't believe how big was, good memories spending hours taking advantage of the large screen)

4. Galaxy Fold 3 (third time with Android, although this came out after being fully invested into the Apple ecosystem in all areas for years, wanted to try something with totally new technology. I loved the form factor but hated Android. Although Samsung's UI seems polished, I still couldn't get used to it and how apps worked. Also screwed up Home Kit and iMessage)

5. Blackberry Torch 9800 (I've always preferred physical keys, and would love if Apple made one of this form factor (I know, it'll never happen). Having the best of both worlds was great, despite how thick it was)

6. Blackberry Priv (tried Android for the second time, it was way better than when I first used it with Android 2. The perfect form factor, a somewhat modern smartphone with a keyboard that was sleek and looked nice. Ended up getting completely locked out of my phone and it was a brick that wouldn't get passed some random locked startup. Neither Blackberry or my carrier knew what happened or how to fix it...)

7. iPhone 7 Plus (prefer the look of this one over the 6/6s design, but I ended up holding onto this phone for years and it broke many times, and was falling apart by the time I upgraded. A few years into it I started hating large phones too which didn't help. Great phone but bad memories lol)

8. Blackberry Curve 9360 (same thing as the 7 plus, good phone and nice design but used it to its death)

I had a few other random Blackberry phones, can't remember the model numbers but they were the ones between 2008 and 2012). This was a fun reply to write, didn't realize how nostalgic it would be

iPhone 11 Pro Max was hype with the triple cameras and finally better battery. I could still be happy with it today. Also I feel it had a better size then the Max sizes for the 12 onward.

The 4 was Steve at his finest. Screw antenna gate I didn’t care the phone worked fine.

3GS turned me into an Apple person.

Looking back the 7 seems to be the most underwhelming and needless upgrade.

In order of preference...

1. iPhone SE (1st gen)
2. Samsung Galaxy S10e
3. iPhone SE (3rd gen)
4. iPhone SE (2nd gen)
5. iPhone 5C
6. iPhone 3GS
7. iPhone 13 mini (sold quickly as it killed my eyes)

1. iPhone 4 : I loved this thing, the stainless steel, the glass back, the camera, and my god the retina display. It was mind blowing. I bought it 6 or so months before the 4S was released and could not upgrade to the 4S to get better graphics in infinity blade lol.

2. iPhone 14 Pro: I like it, but this camera rattle issue, along with huge weight and stupid size of the phone are downsides. I think spot number 2 will be taken by the titanium iPhone pro whenever that comes.

3. iPhone 11Pro / 12 Pro : This is a tie. I loved the shape, battery pack case, and display of the iPhone 11 Pro but the lack of RAM made it really sad to use with multitasking. The 12 Pro fixed that but brought an uncomfortable design, no close up focusing, a bad display that has raised blacks and no battery case.

I thought this might be fun. Feel free to throw in your other devices you have owned too. My first smartphone was in 2012 starting with the iPhone 5. I understand that newer devices are obviously higher-spec, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t have a better overall experience with older models.

1.) iPhone XR (Bonafide #1 and longest kept device).
2.) iPhone SE (2022)
3.) iPhone 5 (Extra points for nostalgia).
4.) Samsung Galaxy S8+
5.) iPhone 5C (Stupid purchase only because I had the 5 before it).
6.) Samsung Galaxy S7 (Absolute junk. Worst device I have owned by a country mile).
Original iPhone. Still have it. I was there and bought it on launch. To this day it’s the best iPhone ever made in my opinion. Following this I would say the iPhone X.

Modern iPhones are brutal: the notch sucks and the camera bumps blow.

iPhone 4/4S
iPhone 11 Pro Max
iPhone 13 Pro Max
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 5/5S
iPhone 6/6S Plus
iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone X
iPhone XS Max

I don't upgrade too often, these are my Apple phone ranks apart of Samsung/LG's

1. iPhone 4s
2. iPhone 11 Pro Max
3. iPhone 5s
4.iPhone 6s Plus
5. iPhone 6s

1. iPhone XS Max (I used to be a huge big phone hater but I decided to take a chance and try out the size. After a month, I cannot go back to a smaller size, that’s why I rank this phone so highly. also amazing feel in hand)

2. iPhone 13 Pro Max (The battery life on this phone literally changed the way I used phones. I used to charge phones around 5pm-7pm because I would run out. Now I can legit go two days with this phone)

3. iPhone 6S. (Just a beast of a phone. Huge upgrade over the 6. I could have kept it longer but the iPhone X was too big of a draw for me)

4. iPhone 4 (First iPhone. Retina Display blew my teenager mind)

5. iPhone X (Pretty dope phone. If I hadn’t moved to the XS Max a year later and fallen in love with the Max sized phones, probably would’ve been ranked higher)

6. iPhone 6 (It was ok. dope to move to a bigger screen from the 4 but it bent and dented too easily. Managed to actually make money selling it and buying a 6S on craiglist so atleast it was good for that)

I will never understand why some people say the 6S was a huge upgrade over the 6

The standard 13 to standard 14 is a modest upgrade but still roughly 10x as much as 6 to 6S was

1)iPhone 5s where the all biometric very intuitive started and the first 64bit arm that started the arm mac rumours
2)iPhone X - the starting of a new era also with an well place faceID , very intuitive
3)iPhone 13 pro - when promotion gets into the phones after the ipad pro started the 120hz isteria in the mobile world

1. iPhone 4
2. iPhone 4s
3. iPhone 5s
4. iPhone 6s
5. iPhone X
6. iPhone 12 Pro
7. iPhone 14 Pro

(I also bought the 8 Plus and 13 Pro Max, but returned them within 14 days)

iPhone 4s
iPhone 6
iPhone 6s
iPhone X
iPhone 14 Pro

My silver iPhone X really was a champ, I still love it. But the jump to the 14 Pro is really amazing. My next upgrade will be when the camera display cut-out is made significantly smaller or maybe even completely disappears.

1. iPhone 13pro max (aside from the ability to not be able to use ANC, the phone is practically perfect).

2. iPhone 5s (my first iPhone, probably my favorite design and went the distance with the A7 inside of the phone)

3. iPhone XS (would have ranked higher if the battery life wasn't so terrible).

4. iPhone 6s (the iPhone that gave me so many headaches. The battery was rubbish and was apart of the apple slowing down your phone after it got to 20 percent and lower. Blue tooth always had problems, and the worst overall design of all the iPhones).

1: XS max
2: X
3: 5s
4: 14 pro max
5: 13 pro max
6: 7 plus
7: 6s plus
8: 5
9: 4s
10: 6 plus
11: 12 pro max (last cause no macro lens , minimum focal distance was horrid, my least enjoyable phone)

A bit difficult as the newest iPhone that you own will be the best in terms of features. However if we include everything including design and time period etc

1. iPhone 4
2. iPhone 3G
3. iPhone 6+
4. iPhone x
5. iPhone 7
6. iPhone 11 Pro max
7. iPhone 13 pro max
8. iPhone 12 pro max
9. iPhone 6s+
10. iPhone XS Max
11. iPhone SE 2016
12. iPhone 5S

Not going to rank 14 Pro just yet, but the rest:

1. iPhone X - loved this phone for the 2 years that I had it. The transition to Face ID and the new form-factor were both things I really liked. The notch - it honestly never bothered me the same way it lit the internet on fire. From day 1 I just didn’t look at it or think about it. The size was best part though. It felt perfect in my hands and since I was coming from 6s Plus it was a world of a difference having a larger screen in a much smaller device. I even regretted upgrading to the 11 and had I not traded in my X for 11 I almost would have returned the 11.

2. iPhone 11 - the initial buyer’s remorse aside, this has been an absolute workhorse for the last 3 years. The only thing I didn’t like is the bump from the 5.8” screen on the X to what is now standard at 6.1”.

3. iPhone 5 - this was my first iPhone. I don’t really remember how it was over the years but I don’t recall any problems. Considering context I can’t complain about the screen size at all. It did have a beautiful design as I think the flat edges look much better than rounded edges.

4. iPhone 6s Plus - this phone might have ranked higher if I had opted for the regular model but I think at the time I just wanted a really big screen. It definitely felt way too large in my hands and as I mentioned before I think this phone’s design is probably one of my least favourites. However, I give it props; because of the larger screen I started to view my phone as a true multimedia do-it-all device. Watching youtube, streams, just utilizing a lot more apps than before was all because of the larger screen. Touch ID did break on my phone a few months before I bought the X though so that was annoying. I passed this phone on to my mom (her first iPhone) and she always had to use passcode to unlock. She has since upgraded to my 11 though 🙂.

Those are the 4 phones I’ve owned and now I’m on 14 Pro. I love the return to flat edges. All the improvements Apple has made on decreasing the bezel has made this 6.1” screen 14 Pro feel very similar to how the X felt in my hand. This phone feels like the culmination of all the best parts of the previous phones I’ve had. I’ve already gotten used to AOD and it’s a great feature that I’ll continue to use. The camera system is great I’m sure… no complaints there. Dynamic Island was something I was initially excited for, but now I view it as a piece that incrementally adds to a greater experience. That is to say, it does its job but I don’t think I will look back on this phone and say that I’m glad Apple introduced Dynamic Island.

Tbh every new iphone is better than the last so I would definitely never wish to go back. iPhone 5 was a special one for me though because I liked the form factor so much at the time. Now it’s laughably small so I don’t really miss it, just the feeling of novelty it gave me at the time

That’s how I feel. I don’t think I ever got a new iPhone and missed the old one until maybe the 12, but that was more because they went back to squared off edges, and I missed (and still do) the tapered edges. Of course back then the changes seemed substantial because tech stuff was evolving constantly.
