To those who find this kind of device to be a positive thing, can anyone even vouch for its efficiency? How will it work, what will it cool, how can a fan running at 6400rpm but only putting out 30db of noise actually be effective. I could put a smooth disk in there and run it at 30,000rpm and 10db but it wouldn’t do anything. It looks to me like lipstick on a pig - it’s overgrown and overtly large just to put some ridiculous leds on the back which are pointless consumers of energy when that should be put into an already inefficient form of charging. It stinks to me like a marketing ploy.

Actually I'd love a car phone holder with a cooling fan, as it can get super hot in the car during long drives in the summer, causing the phone to thermal shut off all the time. Never had it overheat anywhere else though.
There are car phone holders that are attached to the vent, so the phone is in front of it. The AC will cool your phone down. Have a look at Kenu Airframe.

Why couldn't Apple implement a vapour-chamber to dissipate heat from the CPU of the iPhone?!
That's a great question. Vapor chambers are an incredibly effective method to cool compact devices. I'm currently using a Samsung S21 Ultra with vapor chambers implemented and I almost never feel even subtle warmth. Even under prolonged heavy load it's an evenly distributed warmth. Apple needs to start using premium cooling with their premium chips because at this point there is no excuse for not doing it.

I've tried a few and the Kenu ones are really nicely made. The way they mount onto the vent holds the phone very close in so it stays quite steady. And, per your point, ice cold if the AC is running.

exactly! not sure if it was just 12pro issue as that one was overheating even in cool environments but i was literally not able to use it for directions as the screen would become totally dark and whole phone would totally lag...perfect for a phone this price, and this was only mediterranean the car was not so hot it was just because the sun is shining on it

also try to just record a video for more than 20-30 min, 1080p60, the phone will thermal shut down, at least my Xs and 12pro did. no sun, regular indoor temperature.

LOL. It is amazing what people will buy if a company like apple makes it and puts the fruit logo on it.
Ergo toilet cloth
Toilet cloth, Whooohooooohoooohahaahahaha, so funny. Its a good thing you didn't make that joke 4 other times on this thread, otherwise it wouldn't be so fresh and funny.

It’s a privilege to have made you laugh
I hope you wipe the tears with the TOILET CLOTH ??

I have this overheating problems when on vacations at the beach any tropical place I go
I would suggest stop using your phone while on the beach and enjoy the landscape ?
This honestly kind of makes sense. Between the completely lack of advanced cooling features, the RAM being directly underneath the processor, and the placement of the cellular modem, the iPhone 13 models are basically designed to have horrible thermal performance.

People who are really into Genshin Impact on iPhone are gonna love this. It’s nice to have a product available that essentially unlocks the full sustained capability of your very powerful but very thermally constrained SoC. My brother and I used to have a lot of playing playing Fortnite on iPhone (rip to that…) and we always ran into major screen dimming.
It doesn’t. Glass is not good as a thermal conductor and this tiny fan is located outside the phone itself.

Not good enough. I specifically asked how physics that you’re talking about applies here.

No, you asked what specific physics applied. I told you it was thermodynamics and gave you a pointer to a textbook.

Sorry, but I can’t explain thermodynamics in a few words. You need to pick up a book and study.

Saying “thermodynamics isn’t everything“ is inane. When you’re talking about heat transfer, yes, thermodynamics is everything — by definition.

Maybe this isn't the solution but my iPhones frequently overheat and dim the display. This is especially annoying when using in direct sunlight when you need the brightest screen possible. And it's more common than not for the display to dim during driving with the phone in the cradle during Summer/warmer months. I've gone so far as to focus an air vent on the phone to help cool it.

I'm kinda surprised more people don't have this problem or if they do, don't discuss it.

I've also had the reverse problem while skiing and keeping my phone in a chest pocket.
